Great location, cute property, great for a short stay.
It was only an issue for me, as I’m 6ft 4, but the ceilings are very low, I couldn’t stand up properly (on the top floor at least). I did expect this, and it shouldn’t be a reason not to stay for anybody. I do hope to stay again.

You’re right in the centre of Oxford, but in the Exeter College, Turl Street, Bodleian Library area which is beautiful and very quiet. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and set a standard for professional hospitality. It’s a Tudor building (or buildings, there’s an old stone path INSIDE the hotel that leads to some of the rooms) and has more heritage and character than you’d expect for the very reasonable price. My room was exceptional, and I felt like I was staying in a boutique vintage hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had the best night’s sleep in Oxford I’ve had for many years. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Nothing. But a couple of things people might find useful to know:
As is normal with very old buildings, the ceilings are low. I’m 5’8 and was fine, but if you’re nearer 6 foot you’ll need to stoop down sometimes. This info is in the hotel listing.
Breakfast is not included. But there are some great breakfast places on the High Street (3 mins away) and if you want a traditional English Breakfast you should go to Browns in the Covered Market (3 mins away) which is something of an Oxford institution.

The property was clean and welcoming with a lovely ambiance. I would definitely recommend it.

Lovely location and comfy bedroom
Everything was lovely. The only slight issue we had is we didn’t see any staff/receptionist the whole time which made getting recommendations and leaving luggage difficult

The location was fantastic and the accommodation itself was just what we needed. A lovely grade 2 listed building with lovely clean rooms, nicely done out and with everything we needed. Inexpensive and just perfect for a girls weekend.
The shared bathroom was a little grubby looking. (Old rather than dirty) and the sink made a loud noise in our adjacent room when the sink was used.

The location is incredible, couldn't have been in a better position. The room was exactly as described. More spacious than expected. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and little almond biscuits were provided which was very nice! Staff were lovely. Overall, very cosy and perfect for our short stay.

Fantastic location. Perfect for absolutely everything. Really comfortable bed. Old building so floors were really creaky but added to the charm…
Good communication. All questions rapidly answered.
Little bit tired but still ok.

The location.
There was constant noise all night which sounded like a extractor. Lot of cobwebs.

The location is excellent. Just steps away from the heart of Oxford! Easy walking distance to train station and airport bus pickups. Check-in was easy, as someone was there to meet us during check-in hours. Very clean, comfortable place to stay. Would definitely return.

The room was extremely old, with cracks on the walls and patchy paint everywhere. The ceiling was uncomfortably low, and there was visible mold showing through the cracks. The room had a bad smell, and I even found hair strands on the bed sheets.
I also didn’t know that the bathroom was shared — maybe I should have researched better, but I never imagined this would be the case in a £120 hotel.
I would not recommend this place at all.

Excellent location, perfect for the theatre which was the purpose of the trip. Communication with the owner was good. The room was clean and warm.
Because access is via key safe, you don’t actually see a person, you call and text for access and you need to say what time you’re arriving. This added a bit of pressure as we were dropping children off en route and negotiating park and ride machines so couldn’t really be certain of arrival time.

Excellent central location
Lovely big room with good view
Comfortable bed
Characterful building- winding staircase, squeaky floors and sash windows.
The bathroom had a strong musty/ damp smell and there was some visible mould around some boxing. Having said that the bathroom functioned well and I appreciated how hard it was to put en-suite into this house!

Beautiful historic room, lots of space in Albion room, wonderful bath and perfect central location for exploring the city.
Minor housekeeping which alerted team to and responded promptly.

Warm. Good shower. Lots of desk space. Two chairs. Comfortable bed.
It’s an old house so can expect creaking floors but we don’t want to hear conversations in the room above us.

You can't beat this location at this price. It doesn't include breakfast but that didn't matter as I was going to a conference that had breakfast plus there are many fantastic cafes around. My only criteria for this trip was clean room in a great location. I've stayed there before and will stay again if I come back to Oxford.

The location is ideal, rooms are sweet.
Because there is no permanent reception I could not leave my luggage there on check out day.

Great location right in the centre of Oxford. Has all the usual amenities and in walking distance of lots of shops. We were greeted on arrival and directed to our room. No frills and none required, either.
I knew everything in advance, but beware that this is an old building with low ceilings and tight corners.

Location to town great. Quiet, no street noises
Very small room. Nowhere to put luggage. Bed was only a double. We could hear people walking around above us. The restaurant below emptied bottles early in the morning. Window coverings inadequate. Some hall lights left on all night shone into room.

Location could not be better. The room we chose had private bathroom. Quiet at night. had coffee and tea. even a couple of snacks. Building and room had lots of old time character
I suppose the old building may turn some people off. We liked it. It was cooler in late September. In the summer would be hot. No fan.

Great location and wonderful historic building obut the room is neglected with lights that don’t work, peeling paint and damp in patches.
Lights working and repairs made.

Fantastic location, just a short stroll to university colleges and town centre. It was perfectly comfortable, easy check in and out. A great nights sleep, with all you need to make tea/coffee before setting off for the day. It ticked all the boxes for our stay - a little basic but worth it for the location, literally everything is on the doorstep.
The room was quite small with no frills however for the price point perfectly acceptable and great value. The bathroom was shared, it was clean but could do with some upgrading. The sink was also tiny but since there is one in the bedroom this was ok.

Location is v central
Tired.
Bath missing a mixer tap … replaced with a Pyrex jug.
Interior windows in dire need of painting.
Iron base so black.
Bath of the wonk so that you keep sliding to the right.
Staff essentially non - existent.
Fire alarm went off at 9am … evacuated and rang the number taped to the outside window… they took twenty minutes to turn up .
Carpark voucher in the spiel irrelevant unless you want to park 2 miles away.

Amazing location! Quiet, but central to colleges, shops and restaurants. Beautiful view from our room of a college next door. Light, clean and good sized room. No one at reception, but good communication by phone to let us into our rooms. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

The cleanliness of the rooms was poor, and the decor was deteriorating. Additionally, customer service was poor.

Location. Bed was comfy
Noise. Other rooms . Honestly I thought they were in the same room as me sometimes. Every little sound from the street outside.
Its a very old building but jeez it needs some money spending on it.

Great location and a very easy self check in process. The hotel staff were responsive over telephone for anything we could have needed. It was a good sized room and big bathroom.
There was mould in the shower and the refreshments in the room (e.g. cantuccini) seemed old and stale. Would have preferred not to have a room on the ground floor.
