Wester Auchraw Croft B&B

Super cosy stay at a beautiful Yurt tent that we’ve never done before and always wanted to. Fantastic warm greeting from Melanie, our host, on a wet miserable day. It was however, a fantastic ending to our 8 night tour of Scottish Highlands and NC500. Super fresh cooked poached egg on toast with roasted tomatoes! Fantastic whiskey porridge too.

Nothing, as we knew exactly what and where we chose to stay and knew the toilet was obviously not in the yurt and we’d have to make the short walk to house. Only thing we would say Melanie, is a soft light would be useful on the end of your house wall for coming out in dark as the slabs are a little slippery.

I had a great one night stay at Wester Auchraw Croft. Melanie was very welcoming, with a pot of tea on arrival which was much appreciated after a long journey! My room was lovely, and the bed very comfortable. The home cooked breakfast was exceptionally delicious! This place was a great find, and I would definitely stay again - highly recommended.

The room was boho style, feminine but very small. It was also cold inside in September, as heaters were not on. The toilet was really small, no place even for a toothbrush. The owner lit the fire place in the living room, that helped with temperature.

The attitude of the owner was not very welcoming. We felt she was not very keen on having visitors. She was quite talkative and had some esoteric ideas, which is nice but she could save them for her friends and not clients. Both mornings the breakfast was delayed vs. what had been agreed on, the second morning by one hour. She was not very happy when I repeatedly asked about that, as we should have been going. Moreover, if one is allergic to animals, it is good to know that there are two dogs and two cats going around, the cats coming several times to our bedroom. The price was also high, and we felt it was not worth of that. This experience was in contrast with all other B&B places in Scotland, which were just lovely.
