SURF N SUN - Arugam Bay

Our stay at Surf n Sun was honestly a dream come true. We stayed in many places in sri lanka in our travels and this was my favourite. The whole vibe was on point. It was a retreat from the busier arugam bay main street and immediately evoked a sense of restoration, calm and peace in a jungle. The location was perfect, one street away from the beach (easy to catch the sunrise!) and in the middle of the central area with countless restaurants, coffee shops, bars and a bunch of independent stores. The place is gorgeous, lots of places to chill out and read and eat breakfast. The breakfast, wow. The smoothie bowl, fresh fruit and eggs benedict were delicious and our favourite breakfast (and we had a lot of good breakfasts on our travels). The staff were nothing but happy to help and serve. There is a cute shop on site to purchase artisinal and local products including art jewellery, homeware, clothing and toiletries. So lovely. Our room was wonderful - air con, big bed, bathroom was large with a bath and plenty of space to lay out things, and fluffy towels. Also a very cute dog who came to greet us each morning. We will be returning and recommended to anyone.

Sadly yoga wasn't being hosted on site due to nearby building work. They recommended a great alternative but this was originally one of the reasons I had booked this specific place. The vibe was perfect though so didn't take away from our stay at all. As they expand it would be lovely to have a pool area, and would be nice to have a hammock in our place as I think ours was the only one without and there is space in the porch. Very minor thing though!
