We had a wonderful stay in Matera and would highly recommend this property. The location is outstanding—right in the heart of the historic district and just a short walk from excellent restaurants, cafés, and the city's main attractions. One of our favorite features was the view from the windows, overlooking the hillside with the Chiesa Rupestre di Santa Maria and the large cross at the top. The home itself is a unique experience, with part of the spacious two-bedroom house carved directly into the rock. It gave us an authentic taste of Matera's history while still providing every modern comfort. The apartment was spotless and well-equipped, with two efficient air conditioners, excellent Wi-Fi, and a fully stocked kitchen that had everything we needed. The highlight of our stay, however, was our host, Lorenzo. He met us at a free parking area, saving us the hassle and expense of parking in the historic center. On the way to the apartment, he shared fascinating stories about Matera's history and explained that the property has been in his family for generations, making our stay feel even more special. Lorenzo was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating throughout our visit. At checkout, he even stored our luggage so we could continue exploring Matera before our departure.

Amazing, clean and well maintained property right in the heart of Matera. Walking distance to fantastic restaurants and I really appreciated that we had free parking just outside the city and that Lorenzo came to get us to bring us into the old city since no outside cars are allowed.

Perfect location, great host. Unique house, very good service with the transportation to the house. We enjoyed our stay very much, thank you!

Bar next to the house can be noisy sometimes, but it was better when we closed the window.

It felt like a true priviledge to stay here. The owners are so kind and accommodating we couldn’t be more grateful. I highly recommend staying in Matera and this place is the perfect home away from home.
