The property was very dirty no soap or any toiletries apart from one toilet roll. The room did smell as there was no door to the bathroom. Would not be staying there again. Absolutely rip off

You said there was no space and wouldn't check us in so terrible left me on the streets took my money

NOTHING! There was nothing to take home about that place. Some people should not start certain businesses. Maybe selling something that has nothing to do with hygiene.
Everything was VERY DIRTY and filthy. I do not know why these guys should start such a business. It’s wrong. Why will they have one dirty toilet/shower for more than 6 rooms???

Absolutely nothing.
Filthy, dirty & smelly room.
I checked out at 7 in the morning, as I just couldn't wait to leave.
There was a heavy smell of cigarette smoke in the building and the room.
I slept in my clothes, on top of the bed, as my thoughts turned to bed bugs, in such an establishment. Never again!

The owner was very helpful and kind checking that everything was ok.
It was of a simple standard and good value.
The bed was comfy and the room was clean.

Shocking! Booked a double room for 2 nights weeks in advance only to be told a double wasn't available. Staff asked me to cancel the double & rebook a single. After booking it, I was told I would have to wait for a cancellation for the 2nd night. Woke up at 7am next morning, booked a different hotel & noped the heck outta there!!
Pffft where to start. Pretty much all of it!!

Shabby bathroom, extremely noisy guests during the weekend

The building looked a little shabby from outside, but at a very cheap rate for the city we didn't pay this too much attention. Parking is limited or on street, not quite as expected from advert.
Staff member was very polite, but seemed a little clueless. Did not offer to show us to the room or take our bags. Asked for £10 cash key deposit, which was not relayed prior to arrival.
Common areas are in a very shabby condition, as was the room. Lots of scuffs, chips, patch painting to walls, kicked in areas, rust to door handles, questionable stains and burns to flooring. Divan bases very stained, though mattress and bedding looked and smelled clean. As did the towels. Clearly 2 x poor quality/flat pillows in each case, but mattress was comfy enough.
Very noisy for a nap and window was hard to close due to height and lack of handle.
Bathroom looks awful so we didn't like to shower until we got home. Signs of mildew to ceiling and grout was stained black from mould. Toiletries not topped up/had been used.
Awake from nap we got ready for our evening out. Extension socket blew! Tv impossible to change channel or remove sub titles. No socket or lighting near the dressing table and mirror so difficult to style hair, do make up etc. All furniture looked like it had been rescued from a skip or similar.
Upon return to the room after our night out, there was water apparently leaking from the sink, but at 3am, we didn't much care. Although the extension lead was working again?!
Upon leaving, staff 'forgot' about the £10 key deposit, but handed over when reminded.
Overall looks like a halfway house or hmo. Needs new flooring throughout, redecoration and deep clean at minimum. Electrics and plumbing probably want checking.
You get what ypu pay for, and derby is an expensive place for accommodation, however don't think booking.com should be advertising this property until it's had a face lift!
See above.

Location and clean bed/towels
Decor etc now very tired and needs updating.

The location was quite useful being around halfway between the train station and bus station and Aldi was just across the road, it didn't cost much being the cheapest place I have stayed this year for an event, Having a self catering kitchen was also handy as it gave me the chance to have a proper meal on the Friday
The whole place seemed to be in rather a poor state of disrepair and wasn't very clean, the worst thing by far was my mattress which was so worn out that I had to remove it from my bed and sleep on top of the bed on my duvet to avoid being injured by the springs so I certainly wouldn't want to stay there again

nothing
room smelled funny so did all on the bedding,
pillows were covered in sweat marks
there was a curtain as a door for the en suit
had to sit on the toilet sideways because the shower was to close
and was generally grubby looking
for the price I have stayed in much better in derby

Easy to locate check in and check out was easy the room was big enough for the two of us and was on the ground floor Tv worked ok too and was quiet inside hotel the person who checked us in was very polite and helpful also close to a supermarket and less than a 15 min walk to the city center
in my opinion i think the place could do with a lick of paint our bathroom we had one in the room looked like it had bullet holes in the wall . there was some burn marks in the curtain in the window the bed was broken on one side so was hard to sleep on
my only real bug was it seemed to be outside a hangout spot for all and sundry and they were drinking and making noise till the early hours . i get this isnt really the guest house issue but with our window being right at the front we could hear it all and had to shut window which made room really hot

Absolutely nothing whatsoever
It was smelly, dirty, mouldy, loud, bathroom shared between loads of people and was so unclean and unhygienic. People smoking in the property, going to the toilet with the door open. Was absolutely foul.

The Amber Guest House primarily offers a good value-for-money place to stay on the edge of Derby's city centre.
The positives are that the bed is comfortable and is topped with clean linen, a good duvet, and a pillow. The remote control television worked well and showed all the Freeview channels. The Wi-Fi was adequate. The shared bathroom offered a good shower and was conveniently close to the bedroom.
The negatives are the worn-out nature of the property, which is showing years of wear and tear with old furniture and distressed wallpaper, the guest house does not provide any breakfast offering or any food and beverages (apart from in-room tea and coffee).
If you want a value-for-money room, then stay here but expect no frills.

It's a good location, close to the city centre. That is the only positive thing I can say.
The room smelled very damp and musty. One window was badly cracked. The curtains had a tear. The carpet was very stained with some small tears. The single bedside lamp (in a double room) was used, via an extension lead, to light up the bathroom, as the bathroom light had been broken at some point. The shower just started running warm when it stopped, and refused to work again either with hot or cold water. Had I not been so tired after a full day's work and a long drive, I would have probably tried to find somewhere else.

Not much to like.
Everything! It doesn’t look anything like the pictures on the website. The room wasn’t very clean - they cleaned it out when we arrived. There was a foul smell. The bathroom wasn’t working- there was a bedside lamp in the bathroom on the floor. The carpet was dirty, the bed base was brown and grim. Would not recommend anyone to book here! Ended up leaving- couldn’t bare sleeping in that bed!

The location is terrible
The location is terrible, too much noise from the environment at night and in the building, police hovering the house like the house is a prison.. collecting high money like that when the house is not neat and the toilet

Nothing. It was the worse place we have visited. It was filthy so we booked into another hotel
It smelt and it wasn’t clean. We had a look at the room and decided not to stay.
