Friendly greeting. Clean room. Good value.
A few details missed but not bad for the price

The pictures looked like a really nice hotel. The rooms was very basic very outdated very dirty. The staff was really unhelpful and the fact that you have to pay £100 deposit for rooms which isn’t advertised given the state of the rooms I think is absolutely ridiculous. It’s very old and tired and definitely needs updating. It also has a very bad smell in the rooms that just lingers.

The reception area was lovely when we walked in.
The room was very dated, mould on the wall, bathroom taps didnt work properly, it smelt really fusty, and the breakfast was disgusting. The lights didn't work the water for the hot drinks were cold and there was 1 slice of stale bread, pots left on the side and the cups were all chipped.

Had a problem when I arrived and to be honest I was a bit irate well probably extremely irate but the main guy in charge of booking you in was extremely customer friendly and such a nice guy. He just calmed me down and he settled the problem. Also ate in the restaurant which was Indian cuisine and you can normally tell how good food is the next morning with the Deli belly. Didn't get a thing so that is 10 out of 10 for me and excellent serve and I thought very very cheap.

Not much!
Bathroom was in much need to basic care and attention. Bath panel was split wide open and hanging off. Both taps on the had basin were broken. Mould all around the bath and hand basin sealant.
Card machine was not working at check in. I had to provide the 16 digit card number details.

I only stayed for 1 night, so I didn't have breakfast. The room required only a carpet upgrade due to wear and tear, but otherwise, it was comfortable and good for price.

Good Location with good facilities and helpful staff.
rooms were comfortable
Parking was okay but behind the hotel.
Very steep walk up to reception.
Life was not working.
There was a water leak in floor 2 which we had to pass to get to my sons room with buckets collecting water. Part of teh ceiling fell down and was lucky we were not walking past.

There was mould and exposed live wires in the bathroom, and the mattress was heavily stained. The hotel was extremely hot (around 30 degrees) and constantly smelled of food. It was impossible to sleep due to the heat and the noise from the main road and ongoing roadworks right outside the window. Leaving the window open was too loud, but closing it turned the room into a sweatbox.
We were also required to pay a £100 deposit on arrival, despite the hotel already having our card details. We only stayed 1 out of the 3 nights booked because we couldn’t sleep at all and didn’t feel comfortable in the room, especially after seeing the state of the mattress.
When we informed staff about our concerns and that we would not be staying the remaining nights, they barely reacted, and we still haven’t received any update or a refund.

Location was good. Evening meal (Indian) was very good.
Car park was very poor. The noise from the road at night kept me awake & I wasn’t overlooking it.
The breakfast wasn’t traditional English which was very disappointing.

It is walking distance to the centre
The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were too. The bathroom was awful. We decided to not shower in there as the sealant around the bath was so full of black mould. The room was stuffy and extremely hot, with only a small window that was hard to open. The remote control for the TV couldn't be used very easily as the symbols on it had worn off. There was lots of debris outside that made the place look really shabby.

The restaurant staff were polite and food was good (evening meal)
Staff rude , hotel needs addressing. Bed springs coming through the mattress. (Was moved to another room after I complained) Staff having a conversation in their own language whist I'm complaining. Someone walking on the roof at 11.30pm right outside our window with a torch. Avoid if you have mobility issues. Also they keep £100 on your card till they inspect the room after you have left ! I had to ring them to get that returned to my bank. They also photocopy your ID which they don't give you when you are leaving. They say they dispose of it in 3 days ..... Well so they say ! The above doesn't sit right with me.

The staff were lovely and very accommodating. Lovely restaurant and food.
Beautifully decorated in the foyer and restaurant.
My single room was dated and furniture was weathered.

The room smelled like people had been smoking in it.

The parking and check-in was good.
The bed was very uncomfortable due to an old misshapen mattress. The room, although clean, was in need of refurbishment.
The quality of the produce used for the breakfast was not the best.
The TV and remote were in need of renewing. The remote buttons did not always work and there were thin red lines on the TV display.

Indian resturant very good bit pricey could have done lunch time offers
OK here is the bad part booked this through booking.com at a higher rate to take advantage of early checkin hotel knew nothing of this the room had wires hanging from the TV for free view not even tidy very slap dash also had a offer for a discount on food but again no knowledge breakfast was served within 5 mins very rushed as I think was just prepared and stuck in microwave to heat up also the hotel charge 100 deposit for damage which is fair enough but again nothing mentioned when booking just a message after you have paid there is no lift in hotel just stairs to get to your room so if you are disabled forget staying here

I booked for a couple of guests, the hotel refused them. They wasn't drunk, they wasn't rude, they just wanted somewhere to stay as they got stuck in derby and needed somewhere to sleep. The hotel has ignored my messages for a refund even though they told me guests I'd get one. I'd never use this hotel again.

Apart from the reception area which was modern and clean there was nothing else to really like.
Old, dated rooms with springy flat mattresses. Old bathroom with missing tiles.
Very overpriced for what it is. Paid £85 with breakfast however I would never stay here again.

The reception staff were exceptionally kind. We had experienced some challenges the week before and were on route home to North Wales .The young lady upgraded our room and made our stay so much better. To add to the package, there is a superb Fusion restaurant attached to the hotel, which provides some truly amazing food .
Only downside was over enthusiastic decorator who began work at around 6:00 below our window .

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and looked recently refurbished. The Indian fusion restaurant was very good and reasonably priced with a 15% discount for guests.
Although the room was clean, the carpet was looking a bit old. The water in the bathroom was nice and hot but there was not much pressure in the shower. Breakfast was adequate but I would recommend that the hotel fixes the toaster!

Breakfast was minimal hot food was not on display they just brought it out to you in a plate too much wastage, carpet in room was stained, no Aircon it was really hot during our stay ,I know hotel does not have sorcon but I think they need to invest.
After seeing property and what they charged it's expensive.

The price. A true highlight. It didn’t break the bank, merely grazed it — and for that, I am humbly grateful. Rarely does one get the opportunity to experience such discomfort at such value.
The Continental Hotel Derby starts strong — a glossy, overachieving lobby clearly designed to make you forget everything that comes after. And you will try to forget.
The room itself appears to have been decorated in the “distant cousin of faded grandeur” style. Peeling wallpaper murmurs secrets from a time when people still wrote letters. The bed, firm as a Victorian principle, invites you not to sleep, but to lie very still and consider your life choices. The pillows do their best impression of something once plump — now more pancake than cushion.
And then, the fan. A true character. It sputters to life with the breathy determination of a Victorian orphan attempting to extinguish a candle from across the room. After ten minutes of effort, it may succeed in slightly stirring the air. Or your soul.
The Wi-Fi is a different sort of presence — less of a utility, more of a troubled spirit. Sometimes it appears, flickering faintly. Sometimes it vanishes entirely. One assumes it has its own unfinished business.
Add to this a heatwave, and you get an experience that is less “boutique hotel” and more “light Edwardian haunting with amenities.”
Would I stay again? Only if the alternative involves actual ghosts.

There’s no water in the boiling kettle for tea, every other was perfect, suggested to put on litre of water it can be included in the price
