This hotel is in an ideal location when visiting the Rila Monastery if you are driving. We stayed there for a night after visiting the Monastery. It was very scenic, relaxing, and comfortable. The check-in and staff at dinner were very good and the food at the restaurant was very tasty including fresh trout from their trout farm along a stream behind the hotel. The room was comfortable and the breakfast (not included in the room price) was good with ample choice and generous portions including local Bulgarian traditional food. The place was quiet when we were there for one night but in the morning they were preparing for a tour group who were coming for lunch. We left before they came
The wifi in the rooms were flaky

The Location was good.
The room is very basic with no amenities other than soap in a shower room which floods badly. It was however clean. The mattress was old and needs replacing. The restaurant serves very ordinary food and has very poor service. We did not tip the waiter which we guess accounts for us being left sitting at breakfast time while others around us were served. We were ignored by a very rude man who cleaned tables while smoking and served up breakfast to others. We left as people from other tables noticed the treatment we had received and shrugged politely at us unable to comprehend the insult from the waiter. There are many other hotels along this road some offering cheaper accommodation. We recommend that you explore other options and give this place a miss until they learn a few lessons about customer service particularly when dealing with non-Bulgarian speaking clients. We wish that we had explored further options as this place is a real disappointment.

We were quite nervous about coming here due to the previous reviews, but we were actually pleasantly surprised.
We had booked the junior suite and got everything we had asked for: the room had air conditioning, a baby cot was ready, and the mini fridge we requested the day before was already in the room when we arrived. So overall, we had everything we needed.
The welcome at reception wasn’t particularly warm, but it was fine. honestly, we were expecting worse.
The room was spacious, clean.. Also, unlike what we had read, they did accept card payments without any issue — even just for coffees in the morning. The hotel is just a short drive from the monastery, which is really convenient.
In short, we stayed for two nights and it was okay. Not our favorite hotel of the trip, but it did the job.
the restaurant was a real letdown. It had no atmosphere at all, and the food wasn’t good.
We’ve been eating in different places every night during our stay in Bulgaria, and this one was the most disappointing. Breakfast wasn’t great either. There’s an excellent restaurant not far from the monastery that we ended up going to — we highly recommend that instead.
The hotel itself has potential, but it doesn’t seem well maintained, and it seems that staff couldn't care less.
The children’s playground is a good idea, but it’s right next to an area that smells like sewage, and the outdoor space in general felt a bit messy and neglected.
Bed wasn't too comfy...

We have stayed at this hotel several times, so we thought we knew what to expect. However, since the last time that we were there they have upgraded with free WiFi, the ability to take Credit Cards and also some upgrades to the rooms. We stayed in rooms 101 and 102. The food in the restaurant is typical for a Bulgarian village and I always enjoy their Shopska Salad. Although the staff is limited in their ability to speak English, the signs and menus in the hotel are all translated into English (sometimes not very well translated). If you are going to visit the Monastery, this hotel is very close by. The "white noise" from the mountain river can be a great help to a good nights' sleep.
In room 101 the curtains are not wide enough to completely cover the windows.

Worst customer service possible!!! It is NOT worth it!
My advice to Booking: this region REALLY NEEDS better hotel coverage! There are so many on the way, but only a few are listed here...
The hotel is outdated and old - Almost feel you are at a low-budget The Shining's Hotel version. Not even the heating worked properly. The only interaction you may have with a staff member is at the check-in - only to pay it.
WORST EXPERIENCE at the restaurant. Not even the food could save it from the most awful customer service. They don't have the patience to take your orders - they would either ignore or mistreat you.
The next day, during breakfast, there was a large number of tourists coming in at once... even though we asked for the bill BEFORE the buzz, the restaurant's manager (who appears that he has petty tyranny syndrome) make sure to be rude without any reasonable reason.
Summing up: don't waste your money or time here.

Very close to the monastery, free parking, good restaurant and most importantly, they accept dogs without an additional charge.

The bed was soft and saggy - rather uncomfortable to sleep in.

A very new building, ruled by a family, we visited the area in a no touristic period of the year, but we found hospitality, lovely plates in the restaurant and a silence room where to sleep

Actually NOTHING!!! This place ripps its customers off. When arriving, the first thing is ASKING in a RUDE way to PAY NOW. I am used to this in the US, but not in Bulgaria. The room 101 had an attire of the early 70s. The bed and matress already looked worn out on the first look. You could have sinked the British armada in that bed. There was no way to find a good night rest. The night was like flying a worn out Boeing 747 of a low cost airline in economy across the pond. In that case you know what you get. The reception remained unmanned the whole night and even in the morning NO-ONE was around.
Actually not even the heating in the bath room worked. I am used to this when being around on special missions for the forces worldwide - but in the Western World? My wife would have killed me instantly if she would have joined me. This was one of the most horrible stays in the last 8 yrs. A request for refund by bookings is pending.

We had a great time overall.
Couple of the restaurant waiters were a bit impatient.

Did not really know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. We arrived in the late afternoon, super tired, and hoped for a good bed and shower. Both boxes were ticked and we even had a spacious balcony looking our over the river. The restaurant served very good dinner and breakfast as well.
Our airconditioning did not work.

the staff is not welcoming at all, they look like they want to slap you in the face whether at the restaurant or the reception
Rooms are just ok, the hotel has no charm

Clean, close to the rila monastery
8.0 / 10.0
Convenient location very close to Rila Monastery and nice view from the rooms and the restaurant, especially at sunset. Very tasty food and huge portions at the restaurant. There was a baby cot and a high chair available for us, and there is even a small playground outside the hotel.
We found the bed mattresses quite uncomfortable. Additionally there is constant noise from the small waterfall just outside the hotel, so beware if you’re looking for complete silence at night.
