If you want to check out from the world for a moment, Hidaji is the place. It was a quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. We spent the day enjoying the hot springs, getting a wonderful massage, and resting. The meals were outstanding.
If you do not have a car or speak Japanese, options for leaving the onsen are limited. They do not serve lunch, and it was a holiday so nothing was open.

My husband and I are experienced travelers who have stayed in wonderful ryokans across Japan more than ten times, and this was the best ryokan experience we’ve ever had.
The communication and service were exceptional, the food was worthy of a Michelin-level restaurant, and the room was breathtaking - even more beautiful than the photos could show. The onsens, both the private one in our room and the wooden outdoor bath, were absolutely magical.
Everything was so wonderful that we booked our next stay before this one had even ended. We can’t wait to come back in November!

Wonderful Spotless clean property, great place to relax and rejuvenate
Staff attitude and only spot not clean the wash basin in my toilet.
