The Villa Rosa Hotel & Self-catering Apartments

Excellent location on High Level Road, and easy walk to Regents/Main Road for meetings, shopping, and the beach. The room in the front which I took was large and the bathroom almost as large. It faced the front door and front veranda. The fire at the apartment house one street over gave everyone a fright. But the staff were calm, helpful to the first responders, and let several rest and use the toilets for what became an all night fire suppression exercise. You really can't ask for a better sense of Cape Town than what I saw at the Rose the evening I stayed. Charming old property in a great neighborhood, with an excellent manager and staff.

The parking area in front of the garage doors worked for me and my pick up truck (bakkie) but no guard is present in the hut, and the space does leave your tailgate in the sidewalk. It was good enough but not so good that you could leave anything of value in the cab. The room location was a real challenge. Everyone coming and going slams the door and loiters outside your bedroom door. The breakfast room is literally across the hall so you are 'awake' at 7 whether you want to be or not. It is a wood building of historic character so the upstairs guests remind you of their presence with each footfall. This is not the room for the light sleeper. The people using the veranda basically can watch you sleep or hear you snore. This is not the room for any sort of private intimate relations (if you get my meaning). You might want to try for an upstairs room in the back.

Fantastic location, big spacious room with comfy bed and lovely sheets. Wonderful old house, full of charm.

Great position. We could walk down to the promenade and the local restaurants.

It wasn’t made clear to us that service to the self-catering apartments were not included in the price. We were not informed that we could receive fresh towels and there was no follow up from the staff during our stay.
