A comfortable stay for our 1 night accommodation.
Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. The staff were brilliant as they obliged a large group of us by starting breakfast earlier than scheduled as we were attending a dog show.
The bathroom was a bit shabby, the water in the sink was slow to drain but didn't cause us any real issues. I appreciated it being dog friendly, but £15 each was a bit too expensive as nothing special was provided for them.

well worth a visit
Our room was very well equipped with cotton sheets and towels. It had an iron and ironing board and coffee / hot drinks maker. The breakfast menu was extensive and in the evening the restaurant served good food at a very reasonable price.
nothing to dislike

great value for money - fabulous bedroom, would stay again happily.
easy to find & park. Lounge areas looked beautiful & sumptuous. we were lucky to be upgraded to a four poster room for our 3 night stay - very much appreciated. gorgeous comfortable room - the size, decor, furniture, distant outlook, nice & quiet aspect/location.
good/useful information pack in the room. nice tea/coffee making facilities.
young man on duty Sunday evening seemed to be on the ball & proactive.
lots of cereal choices at breakfast.
nice town location easy for the theatre, restaurant etc
part of car park was flooded & a tight squeeze to park on Saturday evening.
most of the staff were young/nervous/inexperienced.
wifi dropped out each time I locked my phone so had to log in each time & it didn't seem to have enough oomph to view videos.
hot water did take a long time to come through in the bathroom but the info pack did warn of that.
breakfast options a bit limited - no pastries, mushrooms, hash browns/potato. toast was "communal!"

Nice staff, good location
The swimming pool was a small overground one, not as hoped for in a spa

Room - power socket detached from the wall - clear hazard
no plug in bathroom sink
Only terrestial TV available
floor nail sticking out of the floor through the carpet -clear hazard
Dining room had large cobwebs all around the room showing a lack of cleaning over a protracted period
Breakfast buffet self service food was luke warm

Disappointing
Breakfast and location was good .
Booked a room with a double bed .The double bed was 2 single beds pushed together which is not a double bed as advertised.
Very uncomfortable nights sleep.

I can see a lot of effort has been put into this hotel in the past but it now needs bringing up to date with a cleaner e
Friendly staff, super helpful landlady when checked in and needed WiFi access. Well located.
Spacious bedroom.
Very tired decor, carpets and walls heavily marked/not clean in communal areas.
Room needed re decorating, there was a used plaster on the floor and general cleanliness sub-optimal and felt this was unacceptable given the amount I paid.
We spent a wonderful time with my partner and a dog there. Great location, clean and big room. Just perfect to run away from the everydays.
We couldn't stay in the hotel for dinner because it was full, so make your reservation before arrival.

Comfortable stay, with a stylish mixture of old and new
The room was fun, with flamboyant decoration which echoes the hotel's Victorian origins but with modern style - one of the reasons I chose this hotel. The lounge and public areas had a similar mix of old and new, very nicely done, which gives the hotel an opulent look, with comfortable chairs and sofas in the hotel foyer/lounge area. The dining rooms were also very nicely decorated, with lots of attention to detail.
The bed was very comfortable, and there was plenty of wardrobe space. Two comfortable easy chairs in the room. Decent size TV.
There were a lot of very helpful young assistants/waiters at breakfast who were very attentive and polite. An excellent team. Empty plates were whisked away instantly!
Good views too, and right in the middle of town. Plenty of parking. Would stay here again.
The bathroom had a nice bath, and had been updated with sparkly panelling (nice touch). However, balancing the shower temperature was a bit of an art form! It was so difficult to get it neither too hot nor too cold with the bath taps that we ended up having baths rather than showers. A simple switch of the tap/shower unit would probably solve this.
A small detail - although we liked the comfortable chairs in the room, it would have been better if one of them had been a little higher, because both were too low to be used as desk chairs at the desk/dressing table, if you had wanted to sit there to write anything. Maybe switch one for a slightly higher but equally comfortable chair.
There wasn't a lot of choice on the cooked breakfast - no mushrooms, and I'm not sure if there was a scrambled egg option or not. Also the hot breakfast wasn't too hot on our first day, but improved. Maybe the heaters under each tray had gone out.
Coffee was oddly very weak at breakfast. My OH thought it was tea in the cafetiere! Did someone not realise how much coffee needs to go into a cafetiere, and put in the same amount you would use if it was instant?
The lift is quite a squeeze. If you need to use a powered wheelchair, I would advise checking that it will fit. We saw one disabled lady while we were staying, who seemed to be managing the lift OK however. I appreciate that finding the space for a lift in a historic hotel is not easy. Because only two people at a time can go in the lift, and probably only one with a couple of suitcases, allow extra time when checking out, if there is also a large coach trip group staying - everyone wanting to use the lift at once.

Hmmm…
The bed was comfortable. The desk clerk at check in was efficient and friendly. It is conveniently located.
The decor is extremely tired. The rooms have terrible sound insulation and there was a lot of noise outside after midnight. The shower was very poor with temperature going hot and cold.

Disgraceful
Breakfast was nice
We stayed in room 105. For the price of the stay doesn't reflect the standards. Other people's cloths left in the room. One towel between two people and stained with i don't know what. Shower was a disgrace and looking out the window to someone's back yard with an old caravan. Not happy at all with the stay, if I hadn't already paid I would of most definatly asked more my money back. Once you walked out of the main hotel through the dinning area it smelt like damp. Paid for a double room but were actually two single beds pushed together.

Disappointing, expected better for the price.
The staff were very nice.
Booked a double room but got a room with two single beds pushed together, with a small double duvet inside an enormous loose cover. The duvet wasn't even wide enough for the bed. Also the sheet wasn't tucked in properly, had to unmake and then remake the entire bed, and it wasn't very comfortable, due to the hard ridge caused by the bed edges down the middle, and the tiny pillows inside huge pillow covers. Couldn't get any hot water out of hot tap (not even lukewarm) so had to boil kettle to wash at night.

I would not recommend this hotel. For what I paid I expected a lot more.
The location was good.
The rooms were not together. One was in the main house and was ok. The other was in the annex and looked as if it hadn't changed for 40 years. I asked for a different room in the main house and was told the owner would come and see me; they didn't and I was told there were no other rooms by a member of staff.
The breakfast was average.

Not great for a weekend away
The hotel is right next door to a pub which kept us up until 2am on a Saturday night. The room hadn't been cleaned (someone else's used soap in the shower / dust everywhere).
I'm sure it would be fine for a business visit mid week.

Location not great due to weekend night-life.
Breakfast was good. Nicely cooked.
Accept no air conditioning due to age of property but no fan provided in room for use on one of the hottest days of the year. No hot water - tepid bordering on cold.

Absolutely fine.
The breakfast was fine but what was great was the flexibility of the staff to arrange an early breakfast. Thanks.
It was a little noisy as a town centre location and the mattresses could have been a little more comfortable.

Great hotel for a stay in Llanindrod Wells
It was clean, well positioned & the staff were very pleasant, not over priced, everything it said it would be!
It was a shame the Victorian roots of the hotel did not match the decor, but that is personal taste of the owners.
4.0 / 10.0
Poor value for money.
The beds were think camp bed type mattresses. The room was tired and the bathroom reminded me of an old hospital.
The hotel is clearly in need of a refurb and looks tired and poorly maintained.

Still use some updating and certainly a bit of a deep clean in places. Good value though

Great breakfast and lovely comfortable stay
Couldn’t get parking space due to there Boeing a wedding on and lots of guests but wasn’t really a problem

Could have been a lot better, pictures made it seem so much better,
The location, the parking, the decor downstairs and the breakfast
The rooms fixtures and fittings were dated. There was make up on the wall in the bathroom. The ‘double bed’ was two singles put together so not the best/comfiest. The floor boards were creaky, to the point we could hear people above us, waking us up at all hours. There was a wedding on and our room was situation above the entrance where people were talking really loudly till very late

Good location, pleasant hotel, good breakfast
Very good breakfast, but later than I wanted as had to travel to a venue 9 miles away for 9am start both days. Toast made by staff and coffee not out of a machine! Comfortable room, good location.
Car park was quite full and got last spot both days! Staff said both days that they would ring me to tell me if earlier breakfast possible but did not do so.

A Curates' Egg
Young man on reception when we arrived was smart, polite and helpful. Bedroom was fine. Evening meal (cottage pie) was delicious HOWEVER see note below. Hotel location is convenient.
The man on duty at breakfast was not a good representative for the hotel in appearance and manner. No menu available for breakfast so very difficult to make a choice. We had to sk for the cereal bar which was not on view but located in adjacent area. Eating both evening meals and breakfasts seated on settees is unacceptable.

Very good room. Good overall stay.
Excellent room. Very good decor and vibe. Lovely bathroom. All very spacious. Lush carpet. Fridge in room was a bonus. Very comfortable bed. I slept very well. Parking was easy.
The lift was not working. Did not really affect me as I was only on the first floor but others may have found it a struggle carrying cases/ bags etc up to higher floors. Rooms may benefit from the windows being upgraded to double glazing. This is an old building not easy to keep modernising and refurbishing.

Mix up on a twin room, but hotel provided two double rooms without any hassle at all.
Everything was fine.

A nice, friendly hotel in a a greta position to visit the area
The staff were really helpful and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble and they had a great sense of humour. The food was good but the decor could do with updating. The biggest let down was the wifi which was non-existent.
The lack of usable wifi. Although advertised as having wifi, the signal was o weak it was completely unusable. Due to the lack of good phone signal in the area this was a problem.

All good apart from noisy guests at night
