Very good room overlooking historic square. Coffee pods (including decaf)and basket of snacks very nice touch.

Very noisy fan in bathroom. No shelf for toiletries. Window shutters, although authentic, were difficult to open and close without trapping one's fingers. Very poor lighting. Would definitely stay again, but in a different room

Very good, lovely interesting rooms and setting, with friendly staff and good food.

An excellent breakfast selection. Good Eggs Benedict. Had the Steak frites for dinner, again very good. Very friendly staff and in particular Karen looked after us very well. It is such an original set up. This is my second stay and is very handy for my company in terms of customer locations. I would definitely stay again.

I always enjoy staying here as it is convenient for work. I suspect it is aimed at people on holiday, as breakfast does not get served before 8am, which makes it all a bit pancky to have packed and ready to go in oreder to meet customers at 0900 . It is , however a shame to miss such a good breakfast and I realise it is a cost to have staf waiting for holiday makers, but for business it needs to be a little earlier. Most hotels will offer breakfast from 7am.

Very enjoyable. We'd go again.

The room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Breakfasts at Bistro Pierre were great; and we loved the location. Dramatic buildings , plenty of choice of restaurants and a ferry service to nearby locations (NB this doesn't run in winter!)

Cleaning staff were generally good, but did leave our ground floor window open, accessible for anyone outside.

A superb stay in great location offering excellent value for money.

Superb location and very good development of rooms and facilities bearing in mind the listed nature of the building. Nice touches with a complimentary glass of wine and small bottle of fresh milk in the fridge together with choice of snacks in the room. Super breakfast and very friendly staff.

Amazing place

Everything! Beautiful room in an amazing building. So much history in this place it was humbling. Perfect breakfast every day, great staff. Cinema on site, as well as restaurants and coffee shop. Close to the city centre, bus stop right outside. There is even a tidal pool 5 minutes walk away if you like your sea swimming. We cannot wait to visit again soon

Wonderful Royal William Yard

Location, history, peace and quiet.

We feel that for the price paid the breakfast should be all inclusive. Fully understand the breakfast menu being as it is for passing customers but for hotel residents feel it should be in line with the majority of hotels providing breakfast ie cereal, toast, main course and refills of tea or coffee. On our previous stays at this establishment this had been the case. On our last day my wife ordered avocado but asked if she could also have bacon, we were told this would be extra. We did not wish to cause a scene or embarrassment so accepted. When we had finished our meal we were presented with a bill for £3.30 for One rasher of bacon! Service charge had also been added! I have to say that the food in the restaurant was excellent so no complaint on that front. However this didn't exactly make us feel like valued guests. I am sure you will consider this to be a very minor point and I would agree but it did detract from the otherwise excellent experience.

Gorgeous accommodation in the attractive Royal William Yard

The room was perfect - smart, spotless, spacious, comfortable. Royal William Yard was busier than I expected - plenty of people coming and going to the various restaurants and attractions - but this didn't cause noise or disturbance. The breakfast in the Bistrot was excellent.

We thought it was all first class and good value. An extension lead so that phone charging by the bed is easy would be the icing on the cake!

Ok for one night.

Brilliant location, easy to park and check in. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. A coffee machine with pods , a complimentary cookie and a mini bar were nice touches.

The room was very hot at night. Being a light sleeper, guests in neighbouring rooms using their toilets or running water disturbed me. The sink was so small it was really hard to wash or clean my teeth. There was no room to hang and clothes once we had hung up our damp coats on the small coat rack . And nowhere to put our muddy walking shoes when we first arrived. The breakfast was disappointing, cold poached eggs and due to the bar area being refurbished the coffee machine wasn't in use and the instant coffee/brown water provided with breakfast was undrinkable.

The location was great. Breakfast was good. Really comfy bed. Fridge in room aswell as tea and coffee facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free parking and wifi. Bus 2 minutes from accommodation.

Could hear people above walking round and the shower being used. It was an old building so to be expected.

Characterful part of Plymouth, super helpful staff

Good location in a part of Plymouth that has been newly converted into a "destination" place to stay. Well placed for the Cremyll foot ferry. Staff were exceptionally helpful, giving us a personal lift to the station with our heavy suitcases when a taxi failed to show up for us. The bistro is a lively place with decent food.

Note our room was on the second floor, with steep stairs and no lift. This wasn't really a problem for us, but something to be aware of if you're elderly or a bit unsteady on your feet.

Awful! Very upsetting

This property misrepresented itself as a pet friendly hotel. I booked a room with my little dog via booking.com and when I arrived we were refused a room. The reception said that there wasn’t a room available for my dog. In fact they only have 1 room that is pet friendly in the basement. Which was rented. There was no apology or support. They refused to give me a refund. The whole experience was absolutely awful. My little dog has travelled with us all over uk and Europe and stayed in very nice hotels. This was a terrible experience for us. We just arrived in Plymouth from Spain and we had to find alternative accommodation.

Stunning location with good quality room, great restaurant and car parking.

This is a magnificent location. Royal William Yard is absolutely stunning. Our room was on the top floor and looked over the Yard. Comfortable room and bed. Excellent free on site car parking!

Gracious old house with cosy bedrooms in a lovely setting.

Staff very pleasant. Lovely meal at Maison Pierre with fabulous wines.

Parking ticket even though we had a guest parking pass in the car.Hoping to get it refunded. Breakfast very noisy due to a Thursday Breakfast Club nearby. We asked to move seats but were told the tables further away were set for a lunch. I think they could easily have accommodated us - the tables were not set in any fancy way. It meant we were shouting at each other over our sausages !

The ‘suite’ was located on the lower ground floor so whilst very lovely didn’t feel like a suite I would not choose it again The rooms are advertised as some having baths - be aware none of them do - that’s why I paid more for the suite because I expected it to be more luxurious and include a bigger bathroom with bath not just the standard shower room (which is lovely) but again nothing special when compared to the standard rooms so don’t bother paying more go for a standard room

Everything it’s amazing, the room was really clean and in a beautiful historic building, a big thank you to lovely James who when we arrived even though the restaurant was busy, he took no hesitation in sorting us for dinner in the evening, the was excellent fresh and hot, the atmosphere is gorgeous, breakfast next morning was also delicious great choice of menu
