Kurokawa Onsen Oku no Yu

All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the Taiwanese staff member, 何さん. He made sure we understood all the hotel facilities and policies, and ensured that our entire stay went smoothly. He definitely deserves a pay raise! We really enjoyed the family room and its facilities. The property is located in a remote area, surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature, especially the flowing river. The public onsen was wonderfully hot and relaxing, with a beautiful view of the waterfall. We also made use of the tea set to enjoy a lovely afternoon tea and had a fancy dinner at the restaurant. Definitely recommended for anyone who loves nature and onsens!

The in-room onsen wasn’t hot enough. Even after adjusting the temperature, the water remained only lukewarm.

The place and hot springs.

It's a bit far from places. If you only plan to hang out and around the ryokan this is definitely an excellent place.

Just a magnificent stay! The staff were exceptional- friendly, helpful, nothing too much trouble. The location among the river and trees is just beautiful. We had a room in the main building overlooking the river - fantastic! Short pleasant walk into town. I would highly recommend staying here.

Nothing!

The outdoor onsen area was lovely and the setting was peaceful. The dinner transfer was also convenient, with transport provided to and from the restaurant.

The private onsen system was disappointing. It is first come, first served, and despite trying twice, including going early, we were not able to use one. A booking system would make much more sense and would improve the experience. The room was okay but basic, with no skincare amenities, so bring your own. Staff were polite but quite dry compared with other places we stayed.
