Okyakuya

The food was incredible. Carefully selected, refinedly prepared. The service we got during dinner experience was also exceptional, especially from the lady on training, thank you so much. Of the three onsen, two are very nice. One however not so much. Room is clean and spacious, but also aged (stained paper closet doors etc), not befitting for a true japanese-style detail-loving ryokan experience.

One onsen is not really cared for, enclosed in bit plain high walls, almost no plants, dark. Room interiour should be more cared for.

It was our first time at a ryokan, and Okyakuya provided an experience that was excellent and top-notch, far surpassing our expectations. The service from start to finish was excellent and very enjoyable. They were able to accommodate our needs and gave us flexibility when it was needed. The kaiseki was amazing over the two nights, with a large varied and local food menu. Additionally, the onsens were amazing, both indoor and outdoor. I was fortunate enough to bathe while it was heavily raining, which provided the most serene experience.

Gorgeous old building. Has modern facilities, while still keeping its rustic charm (a very difficult balance). The staff were so friendly, kind, and attentive. The food was on another level. The tatami matts are never going to be as comfortable as a luxury mattress set, but they were the most comfortable we’ve experienced and added to the enjoyment of the experience.

Everything. Cosy. Clean. Nice service. Good food. Nice location in the center. Historical building.

Ceilings were quite low, so if you are tall take care of hitting something. 😅
