Yukyo no Hibiki Yusai

We had a wonderful stay at this newly renovated property in a charming onsen town. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They came out to greet us as we parked, guided us into the property, and even completed our check-in despite our early arrival. While we couldn’t access the room until 3:00 PM, they encouraged us to explore the town, which turned out to be a great way to start our visit. The room itself was very simple and traditional, consisting of four futons in an open-concept space. It was clean, comfortable, and suited the atmosphere of the town perfectly. One aspect that took some getting used to was the off-site bathroom arrangement, as guests need to use the property’s onsen facilities for bathing. Initially, we thought this might be inconvenient, but it actually became one of the highlights of our stay. Since this is an onsen town, it encouraged us to fully embrace the experience, and we ended up visiting the baths multiple times throughout our stay. The onsen facilities were excellent, with six different pools and two private onsen available. The men’s and women’s baths rotate, allowing guests to experience all of the different baths during their stay, which added a fun element to the experience. If you’re only planning to visit once, I would personally recommend trying one of the outdoor baths. The private onsen are very popular, so it’s best to either queue outside or visit during off-peak hours. The town itself is very small and walkable, with most attractions, restaurants, and shops within easy walking distance. The hotel is located right beside the river that runs through town. If you leave the window open, you can clearly hear the sound of the flowing water. Some guests may find it a little loud, but I personally found it relaxing and enjoyed the natural ambiance. Overall, this was a memorable stay with excellent hospitality, great onsen facilities, and a fantastic location for experiencing the charm of a traditional Japanese onsen town.

Nice hotel with good service, well maintained, good quality meals, free flow alcohol during dinner and after dinner. Onsen facilities is clean and view is fantastic.

일정 변동이 갑자기 생겨 한달도 되기전에 급하게 잡은 료칸인데 만족스러웠습니다. 버스정류장에서 걸어서 5분정도 걸리구요 료칸에서 운영하는 정류장까지 가는 버스가 있어 체크인아웃때 예약해서 사용하시면 좋습니다. 프런트에 한국인 직원분 계셔서 체크인 편하게 했습니다. 방도 넓은곳에 배정받아서 두명이서 크게크게 사용해서 좋았습니다. 온천도 뜨끈하게 잘 사용했습니다. 프라이빗이 예약제가 아니라 이미 사용하는 사람이 있으면 대기하다가 들어가야하는데, 공용 온천으로도 충분히 좋았습니다. 밥도 석식조식 뷔페식으로 맛있게 먹었고 석식때 생맥주가 꿀맛이었어요. 덕분에 잘쉬다갑니다.

We had 10-day travel in June/July mainly in Kumamoto, Kurokawa, Yatsushiro Shi and our last night was staying nearby Fukuoka Airport. Comparing all the hotels we stayed at, this hotel Yukyo no Hibiki Yusai makes decided to not staying at any of its chain/associated hotels in the future due to our experiences: 1. the staff at the front desk, the chef/staff at the fried chicken and vegetables, and the staff at the wine area are kind, nice, and helpful; 2. on the other hand, the staff who are collecting used dishes are not professional or well trained -- they don't collect used dishes/tray autonomously even when they see the dishes on a tray are all empty and put at the side of the table; 3. we stayed in the nights of Saturday (6/27) and Sunday (6/28), surprisingly to see exactly the same foods served for breakfast and dinner on both days! Customers won't have surprise and expectation at all in such case -- we were questioning ourselves why bother to stay at this place for two nights; 4. the foods served in the dinner are many but unfortunately they are not attractive and we don't feel we have choices like when we stayed at 松乃湯 -- only one kind of sashimi and four or five nigiri include salmon/tuna/squid/chicken (?!) 5. the hair dryer is blowing very weak compared to the other three hotels they are using Panasonic; 6. we were staying at room 103, there was always a background noise sounding like a machine all the time included in the nights -- luckily your brain might treat it as white noise so at the end you could still sleep!
