Comfortable, welcoming worth the money.

Very welcoming, comfortable stay, spotlessly clean. Quaint building. Just a one night stay after sadly attending a funeral. Breakfast was very good. Would stay again and can recommend.

Fab location with great unique character. Fab hosts and amazing breakfast options. Had s lovely time with my daughter exploring the area . Thanks do much for having us. We look forward to returning.

Cosy B&B

Lovely warm welcome from Catherine after a very long drive in an electric car!! Cosy, spotlessly clean room with modern ensuite shower room. The morning brought a delicious good quality full English breakfast made to order by James. A nice extra was the homemade toasted bread and jam. Definitely recommend a stay.

Good place to stay. Staff nice. Breakfast fantastic. Lots of takeaways nearby for evening meal. Wi-Fi is solid. Third night my room was a bit warm so I turned radiator down a bit, and opened window for a bit.

Wonderful place to stay - James and Katherine are so welcoming. Their whole Lodge is clean, warm and comfortable; the breakfast was utterly delicious and there was easy parking outside 😊

Breakfast was excellent, I do like warm milk on cereal which I'm sure I would have been given if only I had asked. Everything about the room was just fine. Could not ask for more pleasant and courteous hosts.

James went out of his way to provide me with an on-site car park space but it is very tight. Access to and space for only 2 small cars maximum. On-highway parking close to the guest house is limited to 2 hours between 8 am and 6 pm unrestricted thereafter.

Very unwelcoming and inflexible. Avoid.

Smaller than expected, very low ceilings, but cute and nice decor.

Very unwelcoming staff and they threatened to not let us check in late. After a long day of traveling, we called around 830pm to inform we were far away and arriving around 11/1130pm. We mentioned that the posting allows late check in after 10pm for 20 pounds charge. The owner got angry at the phone and told us repeatedly that it is at the owner’s discretion whether to allow check in, and that they can’t be held at “ransom” (literal quote) by us, and won’t be waiting later than 1030pm because he had to go to sleep, no matter the fact that our group of five people would be left without accommodation for the night. We then sped on the roads as much as possible, hurriedly tried all we could to get to the location asap, and sent them a message with an update, to which owner offered up to 11pm, but categorically told us that after 11pm no one will answer the phone or open the door. We are traveling in a foreign country and this behavior is the opposite of hospitality. Avoid at all costs. Also - for who may find this helpful, please note that the bathroom is outside the rooms, which may be a problem for older people. It was overall uncomfortable and not easy to access for us.

Wonderful

Katherine and James are wonderful hosts, they were so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms were cosy and comfortable, we all had a great night's sleep. The breakfast was fantastic with a great selection and lovely and hot. We had a lovely stay and hopefully will return in the future. We would definitely recommend

Lovely hosts and great breakfast. The building faces directly onto the A30, but our room was at the back and traffic noise was not an issue. Bedroom small but adequate, comfortable bed.

Lovely place, owners were friendly and nice, my favourite hotel in Chard. Breakfast was really nice, they provided everything you could ever need and more. I would 100% recommend this place. Will be going back soon.

A wonderful stay in a warm welcoming family run B&B ; highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we especially appreciated the warm welcome we received from our hosts James and Katherine; they are very hospitable and make you feel like you're staying in a home away from home. Our room (room 4) was very nice, spotlessly clean with ample storage space and an excellent large wide screen TV. The bathroom was also of a good size, again spotlessly clean with a bath/shower with plentiful hot water. The room looked out onto the main High St, however, it was very quiet due to the presence of double glazing and we enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep each evening (Chard is a quiet town anyway with not much nightlife). We enjoyed a superb full English cooked breakfast each morning along with our hosts homemade granola and muesli which was the best we've ever tasted.You will not taste a better breakfast !! Parking was easy, although it is a two hour bay outside the lodge between 8am-6pm we were out exploring the area each day and when we returned at teatime we always had a parking space so all was good. The lodge is an excellent base to explore south Somerset, west Dorset or east Devon as Chard is very central. We will definitely stay here again if we return to this area.

Friendly Guest House which is spotlessly clean.

A lovely place to stay in a good location. The hosts are a lovely couple who are keen to make the visit a great experience. The room was very clean and comfortable. Loved the availability of a fan on a hot night! Tea tray is fantastic, complete with local baked biscuits.

Stayed in a twin bedded room. Bed was a bit softer than I like but that is a personal taste.

Enjoyable stay at Ammonite Lodge

Ammonite Lodge is in the centre of Chard, just across from the museum. My room at the top of the lodge was wonderful. It was nice and big, had a comfortable bed and armchair, and overlooked the garden. My bathroom was separate and for my use only. Again, it was large and had a bath and a shower. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. James and Katharine were excellent and helpful hosts.

The guest book could do with updating. For example, some of the Ilminster cafés/restaurants, I.e. F.East and Today’s Menu closed some time ago.

Everything was perfect. We had a lovely friendly welcome. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, with home made bread, marmalade and granola. We had a marvellous stay.
