Lovely evening meal & good hearty breakfast

All enjoyed a lovely evening meal. The salmon in a dill and caper cream sauce....delicious. Breakfast was really nice and plentiful. Good cuppa too

Only downside was a bit of road noise in one of the rooms

Fantastic staff and food in an old building full of charm

The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. We had breakfast included and also had dinner there one night, and the food was good quality, fresh and very tasty. The room was clean and the bed was very comfy. It’s an old building full of charm, with lovely views of the countryside.

There is plenty of parking, but if you don’t drive you have to rely on local taxis - which can be unreliable. This isn’t the hotels fault. We would happily stay here again, just be mindful if you don’t drive. The location being quiet was what sold it for us anyway :)

Friendly pub with good vegan choices and a clean comfortable bedroom.

Great choice of vegan options. We had a lasagne with lovely side dishes in the evening and a great plentiful breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable and the owners were very welcoming.

Perfect stay, would stay again.

Staff and owners were very friendly. Breakfast was very good. Room was very comfortable and warm. Loved all the Christmas lights, very welcoming.

The only negative was the sound of a toilet being flushed many times during the night. Very noisy.

Breakfast was great, plenty of choice. Rooms were well equipped, but found the pillows a little to firm. Would definitely recommend.

Being informed of the Chard Carnival taking place on the evening we were arriving, took 3 hours to reach the hotel instead of 20 minutes which it should have been, due to all the road closures.

Ok but suggest earplugs!

The atmosphere was good, the staff friendly, the food was good wholesome food.

Noise level in room from others was high, snoring and talking in the room next door disrupted our sleep but the main issue was the sound of running water and a cistern filling along with clanking pipes throughout the night- awful nights sleep. Cleanliness in the bathrooms could be improved both in the public area and the rooms.

The staircase to the rooms smelled of cigarette. Lots of noise from the pub below in the rooms but it’s all quiet from 11pm

Good overnight stop enroute to our holiday in cornwall

There was nothing to complain about, very good value for money. Good choice of evening meals, decent size portions. Warm comfy bed , nice choice of breakfast. Ideal place for an overnight stop

Only one way out from the bedrooms so a little concerned that the fire doors at the foot of the stairs were wedged open.

Value for Money

A friendly, value for money, pub with rooms. They have a lovely garden, which, in better weather (than we had) is a great place for a drink and a meal. The meals are very reasonably priced. Close to Crewkerne, home to at least 10 charity shops. Please visit Chard Reservoir, it has a bird hide, and the most ginormous carp. This was our third visit to the pub.

It's a pub, so you must expect some noise before closing time, but there were quite a noisy bunch beneath our room at the front of the pub. The bed pillows were pretty hard, well, very hard. And, if you are an over-packer like me, take a few more hangers.

Haymaker Inn excellent overnight stay

The friendliness and willingness to give information to help. The room was clean, comfortable with an en suite. The food was exceptional and great value. The steak meal was the best 👌 👍 l have had and the sauce was amazing. My husband had the stew and veg and he couldn't finish his as the portion was so generous. A gem of a pub and look forward to staying again next year.

Dirty and noisy room.

Very little.

It was generally very dirty and needs up dating. The staff general were friendly, apart from the gentleman serving at breakfast. The room we were in was above the pub toilet of which you could hear everything when in use.

Lovely friendly place to stay

Good location for visiting beach or inland. Our room was a good size, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. Ate here two evenings and good quality and quantity. Were given bottled water each day, biscuits and a chocolate. We would definitely stay here again.

Our pillows were really hard but would bring our own next time we stay.

Good breakfast & evening meal in the restaurant was plentiful, enjoyable & a sensible price. Nice to have two bottles of water included on the tea/coffee tray as the weather was so hot. Also having a fan in the room was useful.

A lot of black mold on the shower walls.Was in the bedroom at the front so there was a fair amount of road noise would request a rear room if staying again.
