Great location
Even with notice, the restaurant was hopeless in catering for allergies. All food is prepared off site and brought in. I can only assume they do not employ chefs!

Cosy atmosphere. Comfortable room [good shower] and bed. Helpful staff. Excellent light breakfast [good coffee] and good evening meal in a very pleasant bistro. Close to the Fitzwilliam museum and an easy walk into town.
It would have been good if the library had been available [it was being used for a private function - although fair enough].
I believe it would have been kind to guests and staff if a toilet brush had been put beside the toilet.

Location and room decor very good. Staff friendly.
Our room had a persistent ‘knocking’ noise repeating every few minutes. Despite speaking to reception staff multiple times, and being told that maintenance would sort it out whilst we were out for the evening this didn’t happen. We were out late into the evening and returned to the banging, which continued until our departure.
Mentioned again at checkout to be told this was a known problem with air trapped in the pipes in our room. No apology.
Very disappointing as this was a trip for a special occasion.

The hotel is very central. 2 minutes walking distance to the Fitzwilliam museum and about 10 minutes into the city center. The hotel itself has a nice interior. We had a very spacious and comfortable room and really enjoyed our stay.
There isn’t anything I didn’t like. I would recommend this hotel if you are coming to Cambridge!

Bath beautiful but difficult to get out of. Safety mat essential!

The suit was beautiful, the well was really a nice touch and the whole place felt so authentic and stunning. I appreciate the free drinks. 2 cokes, 2 diet cokes, 2 Heineken, 2 other beers 2 wine in a can, and 2 other flavoured cans of wine.
The espresso machine was nice, the tv was great however it doesn't work well on iPhones. The outside private area was really beautiful and such a nice vibe!
The bed was comfortable, the sofa was clean.
The toiletries were all there and the shampoo, body wash all smelt incredible!!
The lighting was amazing!
Regarding the TV my misses with an apple iphone couldn't cast her phone to the TV but luckily me being on Android, i didnt have any issues at all.
There was a mini fridge but it was not connected and turned on, later realised the plug wasn't on.
The outdoor private area doesn't have a handle outside, and the ash tray wasn't on top of the table, instead it was flipped upside down where the leaves are.
The thermostat was awful. It was stuck on 22 degrees which i did find it too warm, and even tho there are arrows pointing up and down, you couldn't lower it or increase it.
It would have been nice if they included breakfast bars but honestly the fact that they had all these alcoholic drinks free for the taking fully makes up for it.
I wish i could adjust the picture quality and the sound quality through the remote settings but it wasn't a problem at all, just a nice to have but i understand how frustrating it could be for the workers to have to constantly reset it.
The shower has a leak on the top, so when you turn it on, it turns into a fountain.
The left side of the bed pointing to the wall, the bed side lamp brightness was not adjustable but the other side was (literally such a minor thing)

A good hotel and consistent with our experiences of others in the HdV chain. The meals were very good. Accessibility on entering the property and within it is awkward in places, due to lots of steps, heavy doors and quirks of the interesting building.

Always stay here - beautiful period building. This time stayed in the room with its own underground cinema which was great.
Too cold! Bedroom was icy - it couldn’t be fixed by staff who eventually came and turned off the cold air that was blowing out and brought us little heaters. Bathroom fine as underfloor heating. Didn’t spoil the trip but we specially chose to spend New Year’s Eve here and so it was disappointing. Perhaps a complimentary bottle of fizz or a free cocktail might have been in order here - but nothing. Such a shame as it’s our favourite hotel in Cambridge and we stay here a lot.

Mix of modernism and character.
The wardrobe light kept coming on despite the door being closed.

Location for me. Close to city center
The housekeeping never refilled anything ! Kleenex boxes, napkins, small towels ! Bin liners were stinking for 4 days !

The room was very dated and certainly needed 'touching up'. The paint was peeling, the carpet was stained, and the cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired.

Spacious room with character, warm feel throughout hotel, with some cosy nooks to sit in downstairs whilst having a drink. Bistro didn't disappoint with our half board option either.

Good location, tasty breakfast, welcoming staff. Decent price for a weekend stay.
A few more bottles of water in a cold fridge and access to other drinks would be ideal - two tepid small bottles didn’t touch the sides.
The photos of obnoxious drunk students on the walls reminded me of the worst bits of Cambridge Uni swap then for something more inspiring.

Greater selection of coffee pods

Good location - beds was fantastic
Room was noisy
6am lots of noise from the air vent
Resulting in a very bad sleep
I wanted to rest as it was over Xmas!
Bathroom was not great, very small - door opened only a little when entering so my wife and I knocked ourselves many times.
Ceiling was very small when entering the room.
Breakfast was very average - not worth the money.

Stayed for Xmas last year. Returned this year. And we had a lovely time. It’s been pointed out that the staff here are lovely. Because they are.
Find it hard to fault the place. Will definitely return and I highly recommend.
Nothing whatsoever.

I really like this hotel. It’s very central and a bit quirky but the rooms are very nice and the breakfast is superb.
I was in a large attic room and the room temperature was tricky to control (winter). It was also a bit musty, which was somewhat masked by a heavy duty air freshener in the corridor.
5.0 / 10.0
Delicious breakfast. I think the (cramped) venue was temporary due to a glass door to the restaurant being vandalised overnight.
Unfortunately the room we were allocated had no heating. We were assured this would be remedied. Returning 4 hours later nothing had changed. We requested a remedy again but there was still no change. We were offered 2 alternative rooms but these too had the same problem. We ended up with an electric fan heater in “Browns”. A completely blocked sink and saturated carpet in the vicinity of the non-functioning radiator was also most annoying.

Fantastic location, well appointed rooms, excellent mattress, clawfooted tub.
Really beautiful to decorated room but for some reason the bathroom didn’t have any shelf or counter for toiletries. Please fix this one tiny thing!

Central location. Everything is easily accessible on foot. Super room with an extra large bed. Excellent service from staff.
Parking is an issue. But that's the same for any city centre hotel in Cambridge.

Location could be a bit more central, staff nice but a bit unusual

Beautiful building in a lovely location. Comfortable rooms and nice decor.
Some service / housekeeping issues in the room - mini bar was empty and no water in the room. One of the drawers had empty wrappers. Also a communication problem between Booking.com and the hotel - our upgrade wasn’t received by the hotel.

All good

Location. Bed. Reception very helpful
The Bath in bathroom was not as the pictures. A bit misleading. The shower was over the bath which was awkward and didn’t drain very well. For the size of the bathroom it could have housed a separate shower. There was no extractor fan in bathroom causing mirror to steam up and hard to de-steam.
There was a long mirror on the wall by the door but no light over it and so it was not useful at all.
There was no mirror on the dressing table/desk
Overall the room was nice and location was great but lots of awkward things which made the stay frustrating for the amount we paid.

Room was very stuffy and hot even with the heating off , nobody serving in the downstairs bar at 3 o’clock when we arrived , restaurant were pushing to get us finished in the evening

Perfect location, spacious room, very comfortable bed
Would have been good to have soap and shampoo bottles fixed by the bath ie in a reachable position! Bistro service charges should be made clear upfront and not a surprise.

Staff super helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a very convenient part of town and easily accessible.
Our room was lovely but absolutely boiling! We tried to turn down the thermostat and then asked them if they could help at the reception, but to no avail. Other than that, a lovely place and charming staff
