Huaraz Colonial

This hostel is absolutely wonderful. The spacious and clean room with a private bathroom with a hot shower was incredibly good value for money, and the hosts are very kind to help you with anything you may need. The booking included a tasty breakfast, and our room was cleaned, including fresh towels and a newly made bed during our stay. They also offer laundry service and tours, and help you with any questions regarding things around Huaraz. We used the kitchen multiple times, and it is equipped very well for cooking. They also allowed us to use some if their ingredients (salt, oil), so we didn't have to buy everything new. This place was actually recommended to us by a friend who had been staying here in the past, and we can definitely confirm the recommendation.

Nothing bad, but things worth mentioning: They actually give you a key to the front door, however the lock takes some patience, so we initially assumed it didn't work and always rang the bell to enter. They were very kind about it, but we feel sorry about the unnecessary trouble, when they could have just told us to try the key again. Also the hostel is located a bit outside of the city centre, next to a market. Great for shopping vegetables and fruits, also conveniently close to Cruz Del Sur, but a 15 minute walk from most restaurants and the central plaza.

This is a great hostel - really nice courtyard and chill out area with hammocks. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was basic but tasty, we loved the little dog and the staff were super nice. Also amazing value!

Only let down was the location, we just preferred to be in the centre close to restaurants and cafes to work from, so take that into consideration, but everything was still just a 10 minute walk away so not bad at all!

i can’t really answer because I couldn’t find the place! The address, via Google maps, did not take me to the location of the hostel. So, something was clearly wrong as this has never happened to me before. Sorry!

It would have been better had I been able to locate the property and stay there, as was my intention. Now I face a bill for not turning up. . . but that was not for lack of trying on my part!
