Very good location, easy to book tours from and meet other hikers

Quite noisy from street and the tours seems like I was overcharged compared to everyone else on my tour who booked through over outlets, not complaining still had a great time.

We really enjoyed our stay at Aldo’s Guest House! I originally booked a bed in a dorm for the first night, waiting for my partner to join me a day later, and they gave me a private room from the start, at the price of a dorm bed, which was really nice. The private room came with a private bathroom (there is a private bathroom in a lot of the rooms and even dorms) The hostel is generally very clean. My only disappointment was that some travellers left the kitchen quite messy and didn’t wash their own dishes. There are several different areas and communal spaces where you can either socialize or find a quieter spot to relax. There’s a lovely rooftop terrace with beanbags, a sunny table where you can enjoy your morning coffee, and a lounge area next to the kitchen. The atmosphere is friendly, with travellers regularly organizing hikes for the following days. If you’re travelling solo and looking for people to hike with, this is a great place to meet fellow travellers. The free breakfast is a highlight. It’s self-service, with fresh bread delivered every morning, fruits, avocado, eggs, tea and coffee. It’s a really appreciated way to start the day, especially before a hike. I also loved the idea of having dedicated spaces in the fridge and on the shelves for people to leave free food for fellow travellers, as well as a box for leaving free items. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about hiking in the area. They can advise you on different trails, explain where to catch the colectivos and help you organize your trips. They speak enough English to do the job in English, which isn't always the case in Peru. You can also book tours and hire hiking/camping gear directly through the hostel, often at very reasonable prices, and they seem to have good connections with reliable companies. We booked the Santa Cruz trek through them and it was GREAT.

There was sometimes a smell of sewage coming out of the toilets (in the bedroom and at Reception). One thing to be aware of is that our first room faced the street, and the noise was quite loud both during the day and at night, with car horns, alarms and people talking outside. If you’re a light sleeper, I’d recommend asking for a room away from the street if possible. The one area that could be improved is the organization of room bookings for travellers returning from multi-day hikes. The hostel offers free luggage storage while you’re away, which is very convenient. We had mentioned before leaving for the Santa Cruz trek that we would need a room when we returned, but unfortunately, this hadn’t been recorded. When we came back, it took some effort to arrange a private room, and we eventually ended up with two single beds instead of a double bed. During the week, I also noticed other travellers experiencing some confusion with their room bookings when returning from hikes. The laundry guy comes around daily, and you get your laundry wihin 24 hours. 5 soles/kg. Make sure you weigh your bag or confirm price beforehand, as he tried to charge us more, saying that our clothes were really dirty (which wasn't true). Despite these small issues, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily return. Aldo’s has a great location, welcoming staff, lovely communal spaces, a generous breakfast and an excellent setup for hikers. I would definitely recommend it, especially if you’re visiting the area to explore the mountains and meet other travellers.

Aldo is great, common room is awesome. Breakfast is great as it brings everyone staying together. Loved my time here

the room was not clean (bed and bathroom), the noise: it was really hard to sleep, there are always people on the roof late at night screaming and listening to loud music.
