A somewhat dated hotel, with the authentic charm of days gone by

A hotel of a kind that’s no longer built. A warm, family-style welcome. The rooms are somewhat worn. The location at 2,500 m altitude right on the ski slope is truly excellent. The restaurant serves traditional Italian cuisine—nothing particularly refined, but tasty and varied. The breakfast is well taken care of.

The location is perfect, straight out on the slopes and wonderful views. The staff were fantastic, as was the food.

The decor is dated. Our room had recently been redecorated but the standard of decoration was poor with paint splatters everywhere, no hooks or hangers and rough edges. The gym was completely out of action and the hot tub was broken when we got there. The hot tub was fixed after 2 days though so we were able to use this and the sauna. The pool table was missing 2 pockets and the table football was missing a row of players!

Amazing location and excellent breakfast. Dinner nothing special but OK and much appreciated the free aperitivo every night. Been there already once 15 years ago and the hotel was exactly the same. While in a lovely position and with amazing staff, it could benefit from some renovations.

You’re stuck there after 4pm because the only way to the town is by gondola. Only one in house restaurant and food was just ok.

Horrible experience - DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

The view & hiking are excellent from the hotel, but you're much better off staying in town and taking the cable car up!

This hotel is a scam in the summer - read the fine print before booking!! You must take a gondola to get to the hotel. This gondola stops running at 4PM. I feel like this is hidden in the fine print on booking.com. If you miss the gondola, the hotel will charge you 40 Euros for a 5km ride in a very uncomfortable pickup truck, after waiting an hour for it to arrive. If you do go up on the gondola, be forewarned there is NOTHING up there. You must eat dinner at their restaurant. There are no other options. DO NOT STAY HERE in the summer!! Perhaps during ski season it makes more sense.

Amazing Experience in the Middle of the Mountain

Lo Stambecco had most amazing personel and it was a pleasure to stay there. The food and choice of it was good. We also enjoyed the spa area where we could use jacuzzi and sauna.

There is limited possibility to go out in the night. Hotel is in the middle of the mountain and there is no way to go down or up except very expensive ride up with the snowmobile.

The location is perfect as we are doing the Tour of Monte Rosa. Also very accessible if you want to take a cable car back up to the TMR path or get supplies in Cervinia town. The staff are very friendly and very hospitable.

Cute dated hotel on the pists (Cervinia resort)

Great location, we loved to be the first ones skiing on the resort in the morning. Clean and warm room (with furniture from the 70s). We grabbed a last-minute deal, which was really convenient considering all the services included (dinner and breakfast included, 30 min spa, lift to the resort, discount with the rental shop), I don't know if I would have booked it at "full price". Food was good, in line with the star rating of the hotel, you can't expect a gourmet dinner but the quality and variety was good.

Best ski break in 14 years….can’t wait to return.

All staff were excellent, food was brilliant, location just under the Matterhorn, walk straight onto mountain to ski. We were in one of the recently decorated room…perfect. Skidoo ride up to hotel was such fun. We drove and had to park car in Cervinia and get teleferique up to hotel which was adventurous. On the last day we saw the Stambeccos grazing outside our room and saw Marmottes coming out of hibernation…absolutely magical.

I didn’t like all the negative reviews I read before arriving….hotel and staff were faultless.

Amazing location but a low quality hotel. Not worth the money.

The location is amazing. Right in the slopes. However that also means that you are stuck in the evenings or if the weather is bad.

The place is rundown, all common areas needs a refresh. It is worse than a youth hostel. Food quality and preparation was a huge disappointment. Over cooked pasta, no spices used and the meat dishes was horrible. It is winter but they only run the heating in the evenings which meant that our room was like a refrigerator, never been freezing so much. No willingness to try to solve it only solution we’re extra blankets.

I was very pleased with my stay and it was a blast!

The location of the hotel offers some amazing views! Some of the best views I’ve had here in Italy.

I didn’t like that you couldn’t drive to the hotel nor could you leave after 4 o’clock due to having to take the chair lift. But other than that, the staff was very accommodating and I would highly recommend staying there again!

location is incredible, main and potentially only reason to stay here and why I would return. is hotel is ideal for a quick skii focused break. the staff is great, friendly and willing to help. food at dinner is very good, breakfast should be worked on - especially savory offering.

bed is a little uncomfortable, old facilities and overall interiors. it was very cold when we were there. attention to detail in general should sharpened, including cleaning.

Excellent ski experience, very kind staff.

The food was great! The staff was very thoughtful! It was very convenient to stay so close to the slopes, avoiding long lines, and to have a real ski-in-ski-out experience. It is true that at evening time it is not convenient to get down to the village, but since the hotel offers great dinner and excellent bar, we did not see this as a disadvantage.

When the slopes at Plan Maison got closed due to strong winds (does not happen often) we had to get down to Breuil-Cervinia and take our car to Valtournenche which was the only opened ski area. Then we had to leave early the ski slopes at Valtournenche in order to get back to the hotel on time before the lifts are closed. Also, the room did not contain kettle or fridge, but the staff helped us to get hot water and to cool down our food once we asked them to.

Location - which is the only real reason for staying here … getting an early start directly on the ski runs as the lifts open or for mountaineering.

Night at 2500m

Hotel is located on the ski area with only access by cable car (becareful at the time table) It is very original to sleep in this environment and at this altitude. Staff is very kind and friendly. Breakfast and diner are very good. We had half board. Our room renovated and shower is very nice.

Wellness area didn't work the first day and the second day, after an repair, water of the jacuzzi was not enough hot and sauna didn't work. It is shame.
