Decor about the place is rather cool, comfy bed and staff are friendly. Extra special is Max the Cat that often makes an appearance.
Lockers in rooms could do with an upgrade, as don't look that secure(no place to put a padlock/no proper locking system.

Stuff and guests were really welcoming. Daily events really help to meet the people.
As a woman, I would have liked a way to wash my hands inside the toilets. Being on my period during my stay, made going to the bathroom a bit difficult

The location was within 20 mins walking distance from the bus station. The check-in process was very quick and easy. I didnt have to show my ID proof as the check-in process was already completed. The staff at the reception was incredible, very helpful, kind and supportive. He gave me advice on some of the main attractions to visit in Ghent. The kitchen was big and spacious, the breakfast was only 4Euros, it was amazing. There was a lot of sitting space in the lounge, the place was very peaceful, quiet area and its surroundings. The staircase going upstairs is circular. The room was nice, the lockers were good enough to fit a small bag in only. Make sure you take your own lock for the room lockers. When my lock wasnt fitting, I went to reception and the staff offered me their own lock to use at no cost at all during my stay, which was amazing. The bathroom and toilet are just outside the room along the hallway with a key to open and close which is shared with a group from another room, which wasnt much waiting. The location is within 15-20 mins walking distance to the main attractions of in Ghent. The staff also offered me to keep my bags in their hostel so I could explore the city and return later to collect my belongings which was incredible. Overall a great stay. I will definately come back again.
There were women who came into my room who were a bit noisy and then they left to go out to drink. They came back at 4am and switched on the lights which wasnt nice and also ruffaging through their bags at that time of the morning. They had no consideration for others. The others who used the common bathroom where taking sometime to come out as they were getting ready for Halloween night. This behaviour from others does not reflect anyway on the hostel at all, nor upon staff who was incredible, supportive and very friendly throughout. Its just about the people who come into the hostel who have no consideration sometimes for others. Also, the lockers are just small enough to fit a small bag and nothing more which is quite ok. Nothing else to say.

Close to transport stations.
Very squeaky floor, and the building is not soundproof at all. I could hear everything from the corridor and the room upstairs, people talking, walking etc, it was LOUD. No lift in the building. The double bunk bed is very low, I couldn't sit straight on the lower bed, making it a pain to make the bed myself.

located away from city centre so you can explore outside of old town ghent if you’re that kind of traveller. big shower and lots of space to put your things in. helpful guides and directions to train station.
have to put on the sheets on your own, which was surprising given the price + challenging if you’re on top bunk. no curtains on the beds. shared toilet door hard to unlock.

Very clean, separate bathroom for rooms.
There was no chair or table in the room; a small one could be beneficial. Also quite expensive compared to the normal hostels.

Well organised, clean room and shared kitchen. The organisation of the rooms made it less noisy. The hostel is nicely decorated and allows a comfortable stay. The location is also just out from the old town in a calm part.
heads up: only stairs!

KaBa Hostel is a really nice, warm and cosy place. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very silent at night. Good breakfast for just the price of 5 euro! We hade a private room, very clean and a very comfortable bed. Close to the Ghent Center and to the Dampoort trainstation.
So yes, I’ve nothing negative to say of about this place! 🙌🏼

Location is great. It is on the outskirt of the city center but it's not that far. Close to the flixbus station too. The area feels more local than touristy which I liked. There's a nearby sandwich cafe called Breadfast which is popular with the locals and they do great baguette sandwiches kind of like Subway style. Supermarkets are nearby too.
The hostel staff were very friendly and helpful. Clean kitchen, clean bathrooms, spacious rooms. It's quiet at night so I had a well-rested sleep here.
Nothing. I wish I stayed longer. Definitely will stay here next time I go back to Ghent.

The room was a bit stuffy, but that was because of the summer heat

Room is small, AC wasn't working and the weather was hot also the price was a little bit high 46 Euros per person per night

The location is quite good. It's easy to reach the Old Town on foot and is ideal if you're traveling with your own bike. There's a back garden where you can store your bike or just sit and relax.
Breakfast is very good priced. You can prepare your own menu with coffee, tea, cereal, different types of bread, yogurt, ham, two types of juice, etc. There are also raw eggs that you can cook to your liking.
The kitchen is well-equipped in every way, with enough pans, dishes, etc.
The bunk beds are fine. Each one has its own outlet and light. It's comfortable, but I've stayed in slightly better ones. That's not a complaint, just my experience.
The communal area, the living open space it's well decorated and conformable.
The hostel was busy but you don´t feel stressed, and you don't hear noisy either, so this is quite good. You have also 24h free access...Yes, it's a good hostel.
I find it a bit annoying having to use a classic key, not a card, to access the rooms. Each room has its own separate bathroom in the hallway. I like it a lot, but the annoying thing is that you constantly need the key to get in. It was also a bit claustrophobic due to the size and poor lighting, with only one light bulb above it. During my stay, the weather in Ghent was quite good, which meant that using the bathroom was like entering a sauna, especially if someone had showered beforehand. This is possibly my biggest complaint with the hostel.

Very good location. Great value for money. Everything was very clean and felt like new. Very friendly staff. Good beds. Good shower. We had a standard twin room, which was very roomy for hostel standards. Towels were included with the room, which was a welcome surprise since I thought we had to rent those as an extra.
Overall, I would very much recommend staying here.
Just beware that you are in a hostel, which means that you can hear a lot from your neighbors. For us that was to be expected, so doesn't detract from the excellent recommendation we would give this.
One minor thing: the listing says there are sockets near the beds, which was not the case in our standard twin room. There are two sockets in the room, though.

Kaba hostel was a great place to stay. It is very well connected by multiple buses to the train station. I stayed in a double room with attached bathroom. It was spacious enough, extremely clean and came with all necessary accessories like hair dryer, shampoo, towels, bed linen etc. There is also heating in the room. Window can be left open for ventilation. The neighbourhood and the hostel was quite when during our stay. The breakfast for 5euros was worth it. It felt like staying in a home. The kitchen was also neat and had all necessary aminitities. The lounge room was comfortable. There was provision to leave the luggage and go out before check-in and after check-out. Overall, I highly recommend this hostel to all.
The double room could have had a small laptop/study table.

Very good value for money
The other guests were very inconsiderate, the quiet hours were between 08.00-10.00 yet there was a noise coming from a room on our floor from 07.00 with women and children banging doors and running around and dancing about and singing.

The Hostel is very well organized in general. There is a kitchen that is fully equiped with an oven and all the kitchen tools you would need. The hostel is extremely clean and tidy. The hostel has strict rules on noize in the evening and eating in the room. If you are looking for a very wild hostel this place might not be for you. But if you are looking for a nice place that is neat you will be satisfied.
Common room could have nicer tables but that is a matter of preference.
8.0 / 10.0
The hostel is very clean and the staff was extremely kind and responsive. The location is ideal, a bit away from the center so very quiet but close enough that walking everywhere was very easy. We got a private room (2 twins) with a private en-suite bathroom, which was really great.
The mattresses were definitely not the most comfortable, and rooms were definitely not soundproof. A bigger group was staying just across the (narrow) hall and was talking loudly at 4 am, and it sounded like they were in the room with us (this was addressed promptly by staff for the next night btw, so we only dealt with it once). So if you're sensitive to noise, I'd think twice, or bring earplugs. There is also no elevator, so could be a problem for some people.
