Comfortable room in a perfect location but with a few key things lacking in the room

The location was perfect! Very short walking distance to lots of bars and restaurants and the cathedrals and historical sites. The room was clean and had a very comfortable bed. Shower was also great! And TV had a lot of options

I didn't like the fact we had no shower gel or bath soap and were only provided with hand soap and shampoo. I didn't like that the host was never visible and we were stood outside for a while waiting to be let in. There is also false advertising on the booking.com advert for this hotel as there was not tea and coffee facilities in the room, we had to go down three flights of stairs to a communal room. Also, no bath robes either.

The door of the toilet was not shutting, making this private time not too private. It was also non see-through glass but still you felt a bit exposed.

Unique place, design pieces and furniture made for a beautiful place. Super comfortable bed, pillows, sofa and space. Central location and cool neighborhood.

Check-in/check-out instructions could have been clearer but was well handled by management on the spot.

This place is very stylish and done nicely with a person with excellent taste and attention to detail. It’s unique and a must stay. Vincent is a true cultured kind gentleman :) Vincent our host was very welcoming and is a proud owner of the beautifully made place.

Unique hotel in the spirit of Ghent

The hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Ghent, very close to everything. It's a unique place that reflects the spirit of the city. We loved our room - it was spacious and cosy. Vincent is an amazing host - very welcoming. It was easy to park the car.

Be aware that there is no sauna in the room.

Brilliant individual room with hot tub and great host!

The Shanghai suite is a really funky room, very well themed throughout, it’s a really large space, great comfy bed, sofa, bath and huge shower wet room , and private courtyard with a hot tub. Amazing. Host Vincent was really friendly and helpful.

Just for our preference, we would have preferred a kettle in the room rather than in a shared kitchen and the toilet whilst private didn’t have a separate door but many wouldn’t mind that. Overall a brilliant venue.

Not entirely clear in the general hotel description that the spa bath is just in a specific room (as it wasn't available on the dates, the "suite with spa bath" didn't appear as a room option so, seeing it in the pictures, we assumed that it was a shared facility). Not a big deal, but I'd recommend to make this more clear

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. So over priced for what it was.

The room was extremely loud, you could hear everything on the street. The bed sheets were cheap. The room was grubby.

Disorganised, greedy host, who cancelled on us the morning we were travelling to the apartment.

Nothing. Didn’t get to stay, as the host cancelled on the morning while we were on our way there.

The host cancelled on the morning, as me and my friend were already travelling to the accommodation, saying he had doubled booked. Appears he had taken a separate booking for the same apartment via Airbnb. And even though we had booked first, he went with the Airbnb booking as they were paying more. He told us we would have to find somewhere new to stay. We then had to rush around trying to find alternative accommodation, while travelling. Thankfully the Booking.com priority helpline sorted us out - confirming with the owner of Verne Dreams that he had cancelled our stay, before booking found us another place and offered to pay the difference. After we had set up the new place, the owner of Verne Dreams, randomly phoned saying there was now no need to find a new place through booking.com - apparently he had now booked us into a separate hotel - even though we had just paid for a new one, via the official process with booking.com. I mentioned this to him, and said we would just like a refund - which he said he would refuse to give us. (I should add, even though we had booked the 2 bedroom apartment at Verne Dreams, he was trying to make us share a bed in a single room at the hotel). Never stay at this accommodation!!! The host is awful!!!

A relaxing retreat

Very nicely decorated, lots of art and beautiful details everywhere. We stayed in the Shanghai room (the red one), as we were celebrating a special occasion, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. It felt like we were in a serene calming pocket of our own, away from the world. The jacuzzi and the private outdoor area were also nice additions. The entire shower and bath area was super nice, it was almost like a spa. Finally the bed was extremely comfortable, we had the best sleep we've had in years.

I would have liked some form of door to the toilet. It really wasn't an issue or a deal breaker due to the layout of the room, but more of a "nice to have". We could also hear a bit of noise when people were coming in and out in the main hallway. Still, not too bad and not a deal breaker by any means.

Everything. If you're looking for a place in Gent, you cannot do better. Rooms are all themed art projects, and quite lovely. Amazing host, who offered us a free cocktail at his equally unique bar. Wish we stayed more than one night..
