Dolgun Uchaf Historic B&B and Cottages with Boutique Bedrooms In The Heart of Snowdonia

Excellent location- short drive to Dolgellau but also site has rural feel. Our apartment had small front garden and patio, facing onto campsite.

Our twin room was clean and comfortable but we would have liked a bit more space.

Comfortable b n b in the middle of nowhere.

Doesn’t serve many breakfast options - for cooked breakfast you need to go into town!

Friendly staff, elegant country atmosphere, great place to see the sites from before coming back and relaxing in the hot tub and jacuzzi. Plenty of parking. Kitchenette in room had microwave, hob and kettle to cook with. Local petrol station stocked plenty of food options for cooking.

Had common internet issues with bandwidth dropping at peak times from lack of QOS and bandwidth shaping. Old school TV turned itself on and off at times, we just unplugged and used a tablet. As much as I loved the kitchenette, it lacked a stove or air fryer making it important to verify ready to cook items were compatible with hob or microwave cooking.

The location was really lovely with nice views and fairly quiet - there is a large campsite attached but apart from a few cars coming and going it was relatively peaceful.

Whilst I knew the room I'd booked was a single one and not very big, I hadn't quite anticipated it being quite so tiny. My dog isn't that big, being smaller than a labrador and by the time he found a spot to lie in, there was barely room to turn around. This room is definitely not one you would spend much time in, other than to sleep. The bathroom was fine with a good shower but the sink was so small I could just about clean my teeth over it without bumping my head on the soap dispenser. I do appreciate that this is a very old building and has it's quirks. In addition, whilst the self-check in was hassle free with a notice of names and rooms on the reception door, I didn't think it was necessary to have displayed my name in huge font on my room door, visible to all passing by. When I booked the room, it included a continental breakfast to be served in their dining area. On arrival in my room I found vouchers for breakfast at a cafe in Dolgellau. When I asked a man, who looked like he might be the owner about breakfast, he said the vouchers were for his daughter's cafe, as they were going away to Devon! I had already visited Dolgellau that day and didn't want to have to get my 14 year old dog back in the car and drive to the village again. I was expecting and looking forward to a relaxed breakfast on the premises. After drving round the village several times, I eventually found a 1 hr parking space - yes there is a pay & display, but I didn't have change and to be honest I felt a bit miffed to have to pay parking when this wasn't what I wanted or expected.
