The bathroom from the room upstairs might as well have been inside my own room, it was impossible not to hear what the person upstairs was doing in their toilet.

Excellent restaurant and attention from owner.

We booked this hotel as a stopover for 1 night travelling back from Italy to the UK. The hotel is quite large but in a small and quiet village on the hillside overlooking Sondrio town. The owner welcomed us directly and offered his garage for the motorbikes. He also ran the restaurant which was of a very high standard - the food and the service were excellent (actually the best we had during our whole stay in Italy) and the location in the very nice garden at the back of the hotel. Our twin room had aircon, most welcome given it was 38deg.

The location is what it is - the village is very quiet, you can have a walk around and the view opposite to the hills is very nice, but aside from the hotel there is not much there. We didn't dislike that, but just be aware. Also the easiest access is from the western end of the village. If your satnav brings you in from the east the roads are very narrow.

Traditional European experience

The view from the balcony was exceptional. Housekeeping was very efficient and always did a great job. Plenty of free parking. Located in a residential neighborhood good for morning walks.

Few staff spoke English so communication was sometimes challenging. Barking dogs in the neighborhood forced us to sleep with the windows closed and rely on air conditioning.

Remote but comfortable.

location was around 2km from the center of Sondrio, we knew this. Rooms were big, with a nice private balcony. Breakfast had a limited but good choice of food. We were given secure garaged parking for our motorbikes. Bedroom had all you needed, good shower and comfy beds, quiet too. The restaurant was closed, we knew this, so can't rate the food.

Our only gripe, we requested a taxi to take 6 of us into town, hotel arranged this and we were charged 10 euro EACH (60Euros), one way, told this is all there is, more or less take it or leave it, we took it. Oddly we booked a different taxi to take us all back which cost a total, yes total of 20 euro for all 6 of us. Left a very bitter taste, was there a connection with the hotel and the outward taxi? for this reason alone we'd not go back to this hotel. Felt very disappointed.

Rundum zufrieden

Sehr freundlicher Besitzer. Er hat uns gleich nach Ankunft eine Unterstellmöglichkeit für unsere Motorräder in seiner privaten Garage angeboten. Auch generell sehr nett und freundlich. Das zum Hotel gehörige Restaurant war sehr schmackhaft und hat auch Sonderwünsche erfüllt.

Hotel Campelli ist familiengeführt, sehr schön gelegen, etwas erhöht mit schöner Aussicht auf Sondrio und die Tallandschaft des Veltlins. Wir sind mit dem Auto angereist, es ist sehr gut erreichbar, ruhig, mit Parkplatz vor dem Haus. Ganz besonders schätzen wir das hervorragende hoteleigene Restaurant. Das Essen ist einfach fantastisch, regional, in bester Qualität - immer wieder ein Genuss! Das Restaurant selbst ist schön und gediegen, mit schön beflanzter eingebetteter Terrasse. Ganz besonders schätzen wir den sehr stilvollen, eleganten Umgang im Restaurant - und im ganzen Haus - auch das ein Genuss. Vielen herzlichen Dank!

Hotel con vista incantevole sulla città, l’atmosfera è accogliente e molto rilassante. La camera era pulita, confortevole e con tutti i comfort necessari. Il personale è stato estremamente cortese, professionale e sempre disponibile a soddisfare le mie esigenze. Adoro l’atmosfera del ristorante “La Moia” … i piatti erano semplicemente squisiti, con ingredienti freschi e preparazioni originali!!!
