I’ve been visiting this hotel for several years. The location is excellent and the price is great. It’s dated and basic but it provides a comfortable clean environment for a good nights sleep.
The rooms are dated
7.0 / 10.0
room is dated but functional. It was well heated and good ventilation. Very comfy bed and good range of tv channels. Good internet but not a secure connection.
door lock seemed hard to lock .

room looks a little tired but I won't complain much regarding prices (still very clean though), a bit weak shower

The room size itself was good. The reception / foyer looked dated but kind of cool tbh. Some of the staff were friendly enough. There is an aggressive fan in the room and free parking. Decent space to put things in the room. Quite warm in the rooms also. You are allowed food in rooms (have been places where you are not!) reasonably nice staff and kind to offer to help with cases. Some potential for the place to get a bit better and justify prices that are pretty high tbh
It's difficult really, because I don't think it was everyone's fault. We had asked to check in early bc I was coming from Manchester Airport and tbh was kind of tired, I didn't want to drag cases around all day or leave them in car in different places. So, they had said they will see what they can do.
Anyhow we get there a bit after 1pm, there's a lot of staff stood around talking and eventually we get ask if we can check in early, usually folk pay for this at hotels and I grasped that, so I didn't mind if I had to. I was told no, the room wasn't ready and clearly no one was interested in doing it. I've worked in hotels before and I know it's tough to turn a room around early, especially if there's a lot to do. But the fact everyone was just stood talking for a good amount of time when we arrived (including housekeeping staff) didn't look like anyone was rushed off their feet, so it already felt like we didn't matter as guests. We were told it would be 30-40 mins and to come back then.
We decided to just come back at check in time since clearly someone was having a bad day. We arrived, got given our room key, and hauled the cases up to the third floor where our room was as there is no elevator etc (it wouldn't be so bad but I couldn't leave my cases in the car overnight as there was too many important bits etc that I can't replace). There was a guy behind the reception desk who offered to help to be fair, so he probably does help other people too, just the luggage was truly heavy lol so we didn't want him to suffer just to help us.
However, we finally get to the room and it's literally disgusting and full of rubbish and it stinks of sweat and old takeaways! It hasn't even been cleaned yet even after us asking days before to check in early and being told at 1pm it would take 40 mins!

Toilet did not flush properly reported and supposedly fixed but made no difference. Hair and dust everywhere, carpet dirty. Bed very uncomfortable.

Appalling is an understatement there is nothing to like about this place
We weren't allowed to extend our stay as apparently we went for too many cigarettes! They had noted down times etc for when you went for a cigarette, when you went to see a friend, go to shop etc. there is no privacy at all and you are criticised for everything. My friend is diagnosed with anxiety and PTSD and when this was explained to the staff their reaction was "we aren't a babysitter service so she's in wrong place" discrimination is an understatement. I would never go here again and wouldn't ever recommend it it anyone. Discrimination case possibly!
The rooms were dated and no exactly clean either. Plaster hanging off walls, dirty carpets. Just all round disgusting

We booked 3 rooms for 9 of us, 2 out of 3 of the beds looked and smelled like they had clean sheets. Plenty of car parking spaces. Staff at check in were friendly.
This was the most grim hotel we have ever stayed in. Our room was on the ground floor, half way along the corridor felt like you were entering an old basement. The smell and the filthy carpet, exposed pipes, cobwebs and general nastiness. The rest of the corridors looked like they were last decorated in the mid 90s. In one room there was a poo still in the toilet, in one there were a pair of glasses in the bed - so obviously bed not changed and toilets not cleaned. The floors were tacky and dusty, I did not want to put my bare feet on them. There were dustwebs in all the corners, cracked tiles, chipped walls, it was smelly and dirty and an absolute hovel. We're normally campers, so it's saying something that most fields feel cleaner and more welcoming. It really needs to be shut down or refurbed. We had booked a lovely house but they cancelled 2 weeks before our stay and we needed somewhere. I wish we'd have slept in the car now. .

Good shower, and clean beds, television in good order.
Soiled carpets, ill fitting drawers ,knob missing, no bedhead to single bed, leaking or water stains to bathroom ceiling, broken tiles and worn out door, lots of scrapes to skirting paintwork and threshold. Telephone socket front off and exposed. No soap or shampoo for use either for shower or bath, or sink. Had to purcase some next day. Kettle, cups, sugar and milk supplied but no tea bags or coffee . These were however present on the second and third day. 6 out of 10 clip in coat hangers were missing. Also a rectangle section of carpet next to double bed was badly fitted to match existing carpet.

The hotel was easy to find and next to a pub but we did not go in as arrived to late. Communication with hotel was excellent. Staff were great.
No lift and there are 3 floors, our room was on the top floor.
The room was a bit dated but clean and tidy. Bathroom was clean but took a while for water to come to the taps.
If you just need somewhere to put your head for the night OK hotel the price was excellent
Just was a bit dated.

Staff were very friendly and helpful with information about public transport. The bathroom had lovely splash back sheeting on the walls around the bath and the shower was very powerful and good hot water.
The hotel is looking very tired reception looks like something from an old movie and the rooms are really dated need modernising. The draws were falling apart i opened it and decide not to use it cos it was really mucky inside just left our stuff on top of the draws. The fire alarm woke us at 8am the morning of us checking out someone had the shower on and the bathroom door open not good when we wanted a lay in.

The building was old, so no lift to get the bags to 1st floor, but help was offered by reception, if it was need. Bathroom small, but clean, and a great pub next door where meals were available. Staff jolly and helpful, would go back.

I have given it a 3/10 because of the staff, the guy at the front desk was very lovely.
However the rooms are very outdated, and look as if they haven’t been updated since the 80s. Funky smell everywhere. The bed was clean, otherwise we wouldn’t have stayed. It’s fine for a night. You get what you pay for I guess.

Absolutely awful. The place is filthy. The room stank of urine. If you are familiar with the smell of a nursing home of stale urine and dead flesh and multiply that by a hundred then you may appreciate the stench. Everything was old and worn out. Dirty carpets, walls arc. Didn’t have a shower as would have ended up needing another one when we got home. Didn’t have a brew due to fear of catching something from the cups. Felt really unsafe. We were in a ground floor room and the window didn’t lock shut. In addition there were undesirable individuals loitering around possibly homeless people being housed here. I know it’s cheap but there’s budget hotels and there’s budget hotels!!
We stayed over for a family event at the adjacent pub which was incidentally a fabulous place with great staff. We have stayed here before for family do’s but this hotel had never been this bad. The place needs condemning. Booking.com should be ashamed to be associated with it and should withdraw their affiliation. Unfortunately we do not have smellovision so the photos can’t capture the terrible stench of the room!
