Location is incredible, opposite a beautiful theatre and with everything on your doorstep. The staff were friendly. The room was a decent size.
Rooms were very dated, poorly furnished and quite dirty. The plastic flooring was ridiculously squeaky and access to the reception & bedrooms was difficult - 3 flights of steep stairs, unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues, lots of luggage or small children.

Limited breakfast. No eggs.

Location was perfect, the hotel itself is very small and cozy. The girls at reception were very kind and welcoming.

Great location for access to the city centre.

Convenience to centre of activités in Lyon. Room was well decorated in good order. Staff were so helpful and friendly making it a pleasurable stay .
Stairs to reception are a few flights , but little could alter that. This is an old hotel of great character so one expects such small inconveniences. Aside of that really there is nothing to criticise about the hotel

Great location and helpful reception staff. Housekeeping were fantastic. Great location.
Main drawback was the pillows! Very small, lumpy and uncomfortable, hard to sleep on! Generally very pleased with hotel though and would stay again (but might have to bring a pillow)! :)

We had an unscheduled stop in Lyon due to a missed flight. We booked this hotel by chance. The team at reception were absolutly fantastic and went above and beyond in helping us book train tickets to Nice the next day. We were also given a restaurant recommendation and we had an exceptional meal. A small hotel, but with a customer service ethic that would exceed most 5 star locations !!

The location was perfect. The room was very clean.
The toilette was in a small room and you couldn’t close the door while sitting. The whole building can hear when you flush it was very very noisy. The sink and shower area was really packed and small. The bed was a bit stiff. Keep in mind there is no elevator and you have to climb 4 floors.

Locations
No lift, and not many facilities in the room eg. kettle, glass, tea coffee, so you had to use the stairs constantly.

The location was great. The view over the theatre square was beautiful. Try and ask for a room overlooking the square.
The breakfast was reasonable at €8, a baguette and croissant for each person plus coffee machine. (Which you can use at other times too)
Our two rooms booked together were on different floors.

The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was clean but very small. The staff were very helpful allowing us access after hours as we were terribly delayed. They were also helpful in explaining how to get a bus back to the station. There is no air conditioning at the hotel but due to the heatwave two electric fans had been provided which were very welcome. The windows were large and did actually open, which was also good to a point. There is a day nursery opposite and the sound of babies crying drifted up to us early in the morning and through the open windows. We did not therefore need an alarm clock.
The shower was difficult to control. One of the things that is really annoying is standing in a shower trying to get the water to come out of the right bit and trying to get it to the correct temperature. It's a basic where so many hotels fail. The building is very old and the floor was sloping. In bed we felt like we were going to slide out of it. In the end we turned the bed linen and pillows around and slept opposite to the way intended so blood wasn't continually rushing to our heads. There was a peculiar and dangerous piece of wood across the door threshold which was a constant trip hazard. I couldn't see a reason for it but it was very annoying and I tripped over it twice. I think it is fair to say that the advertising picture for this hotel is very misleading. The main image is of the old theatre. The hotel is not there. The hotel is down a dark, dingy side street, nearby, with a very modest entrance that at night can be easily overlooked. The hotel is up several flights of narrow stairs which are also not featured in the description per-se. It is only when you have booked that you discover you will have to walk up about five flights to your room with all your heavy bags. The hotel basically isn't suitable for anyone with mobility issues or not strong enough to carry their luggage up many steps.

Very good location.
All things considered not too bad.
Hair dryer is old. No elevator in a building. Not very comfy bed.
They gave us towels with huge holes in them (I mean like 5cm holes)
The floor in our room was tilted. It was actually visible and also anything round was rolling down to one side of the room.

Centrally located
We did not expect too much from a budget hotel like hotel du théatre, but the bed was terrible and the hotel overall very old and shabby. I feel like the least you should be able to expect from a hotel that will still cost you more than €100 per night is a decent bed…

Good, central location for exploring the older parts of the city, easy to walk from there or to use nearby local transport. Lively neighbourhood with plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants to choose from. Comfortable room, quiet, simply furnished.
There was a mistake at checkout which meant we were charged incorrectly. The error was realised and although an immediate refund was not possible, the Hotel did resolve this swiftly afterwards, thank you.
