IORI Stay HIDA

The accommodation was exceptional. It had so many luxury features including the sauna, two very large baths, a zen garden, high quality complimentary drinks, snacks and beauty products, and traditional sleepwear. The kind, polite host who came shortly after we arrived gave us an excellent introduction to the property, which is an old historic building in the oldest street in the town. It has been beautifully restored so that it is modern and well equipped. The Iori Stay properties are an asset to the area and I would wholeheartedly recommend staying in one to anyone. This property I would love to come back and stay again. We absolutely loved staying here, it was the highlight of our trip to Japan. The small town is an interesting place to walk around with good restaurants nearby. It is great to be away from the hustle and bustle of Takayama but still in an arguably more beautiful, historic town and close enough to still do the sightseeing. They provided us with last minute free parking around the corner so it is worth asking if you are arriving by rental car. Breakfast was very high quality and delivered by staff in the morning. It is placed on the dining table (which you may not like them entering whilst you are there) and is a work of art in itself. The food was really delicious and rotates between traditional and western over the days of your stay. The highlight for me was feeding the incredible koi carp in the small canal just outside the front door.

Not having enough time to sample the beauty products and amenities. Finding it wasn't as easy as it could have been so I would recommend asking for a pin location. Just be aware that the two toilets are downstairs with the two bedrooms being upstairs.
