Friendly staff. Many parking spots. Nice hotel on the exterior and also on the interior. It has sauna and swimming pool (not a large one).

The rooms are clean but some spots were forgotten or the cleaning laddies missed it because maybe they were to busy.

Felt like home, got a peace of mind here, definitely will come to Hotel Orion once I'm back in Gent.

I stayed at Hotel Orion from November 7–14, 2025 and absolutely loved it. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt cozy, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The reception team was wonderful to talk to — especially Mag, whom I met most often — and unlike many places where kindness becomes a facade after check-in, here the warm attitude stayed throughout the whole stay. I might have been in one of the noisiest rooms by its location, but I honestly felt no discomfort at all. Everyone was incredibly considerate: the staff at breakfast even asked me how I preferred my eggs to be cooked, and they kindly gave me access to a non-guest storage room so I could keep my bicycle safe. One evening, the van driver even gave me his own light when he noticed mine on the bike wasn’t working, simply caring about my safety. And of course, I can’t forget Cookie, the sweetest dog, and the lovely parrot (I hope they’ll adopt him a friend someday :)) The neighborhood around the hotel is peaceful and charming. Altogether, this was one of the most heartfelt hotel experiences I’ve had. Highly recommended.

Good access to the city centre by tram

The room was spacious. The check-in was smooth and the lady was helpful with low-emission registration for the city of Ghent. In the end, we took a tram to the city centre. We could use the electric charging for our car. The price was fair (normal charging price). The main bed was comfortable. The shower room had a bath and was spacious. The kettle was provided in the room.

The room was warm so we opened the window and straight in we found a few mosquitoes (in October!). We ended up using the mosquito repellent provided by the hotel after fighting to locate the said mosquitoes. The room was spacious but it felt like student accommodation. There was no coffee machine.

Friendly host but pricey breakfast and sauna extra costs put me off sorry.

Host was friendly with helpful suggestions where to eat and the local area.

Car park area was muddy so advised not to wheel suitcase! The room was ok with fairly comfy bed but room quite shabby. TV was ok. Air con not very good the room was really too warm all night. I think the sauna extra charge is a really high! 35 euros each per hour?! The pool is also very small, we didn't use it as it has an unusual booking procedure where each family has there own slot when requested. The whole place is quite dark and won't suit everyone! The Breakfast is also very pricey for what you get. £19.95 each for a very basic buffet.

Lovely comfy hotel in a good location with easy access to the city center

The ambiance of the hotel is great, it has a very classical feeling to it. It's a great building to use as a hotel. We were received by very friendly staff that spent fifteen minutes happily explaining us how the hotel operated and where in the city we should go to do fun activities. We were also able to charge the car on the parking spot they provided for us.

Maybe that some parts of the hotel can feel a bit dated but that is mostly because of the age of the building than anything else. So I'd highly recommend staying here for a couple of days.

Interesting building

Very large room and bathroom. Good and safe car park. Tram about 100 metres away direct into the old town area and runs every 10 minutes. We used it only for an overnight stop so can't comment on breakfast or other faciities. Helpful receptionist.Situated in an attractive residential area.

Would have liked to have had a light come on when walking into the car park area from the street. In the room there was a sign for the prices of the mini bar and the bar - but there didn't seem to be a bar anywhere ( we could have missed it), but indicates more info here is needed.

Kind management, quiet location - 15 minutes from the city center- , swimming pool.

Probably it's just me, but i felt the room a bit dark. The windows were in a corner and didn' let enough light in and the lights were less powerful.

Great as a base for visiting Ghent, Brugge and Brussels.

The hotel is well located, being very close to the tram stop and an easy walk to the train station. For us it was a trade off to have convenient parking but be slightly further away from the very centre of the city.

A bar with a terrace would have been great, but that wouldn’t put us off staying again or recommending the hotel to others.

Wonderful- will definitely return in the future.

A bit out of the main area of Ghent- but a great location not too far of a walk from the station. Check in was smooth and quick, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Room was very spacious and tidy, more than big enough for the two of us. Reserving the private pool was quickly done at the counter, and for the small hour (which felt longer than it did- really) it was great to kick back and relax swimming. Breakfast was good.

Wooden floor in the room was a bit noisy in certain spots- but not everywhere. The mounted television was a bit far away from the bed- had to turn the volume up quite a bit just to hear it. The private pool is a bit small, large enough to take a dip and relax in- but it will not be for everybody. No dinner service is available here, but you are allowed to order food and eat it in the dining area whilst you can (optionally) order drinks from the bar.
