Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai

Elegant, refined, excellent service, a lovely private park, fine breakfast - all in one of Shanghai’s most charming neighborhoods.

The WiFi connection was erratic. Could be frustrating - especially when doing work.

Upscale location, great staff, very clean and great views. Even I left Shanghai 20 yrs ago, when I am back and tried to reserve my hotel. Okura Garden hotel is always the No. 1 choice.

Location, spacious front yard, clean room, and very helpful staff. Great restaurant on the 2nd floor.

Breakfast is terrific. Swimming pool too. Chief concierge very helpful. The location and the history associated with the building.

Reception staff barely speak English.

Most of the rooms require a bit of upgrading and they were in fact doing it during our stay to rooms at other floors. However, we were not informed when we booked the place or prior to checking in but only on the day of check in. The upgrading works took place from 9am in the morning and we could here the noise rather clearly since we stayed one or two levels just below. When we expressed our concerns and slight displeasure about not being informed prior, manager at the reception just shook it off by saying in a rude tone - you can let us know after if you really have problems. Also had asked for the staff to help receive my parcels and I would go down to the concierge but the staff declined the delivery and I went down to speak to them again to remind them that I have a parcel coming in but again they declined receiving it even though they had agreed to do so when I spoke to them.
