We stayed for a 2 night break and particularly loved the evolution of this venue from an old coach house to a modern all-purpose hotel...great facilities, loads off excellent food options here and nearby. We will definitely return and highly recommend to others.

The whole place needs some tlc, it’s very tired. I had problems with booking the twilight spa and evening meal deal. They booked them both within 1.5hrs of each other so to get ready for our evening meal , wouldn’t have even given us an hour in the spa. I changed the times around to suit but when we went into the spa, they said that my booking was an hour and a half previous to what I had booked.
At lunch on day 1 , I ordered 2 cheese sandwiches, one on white bread, one on whole meal bread with one portion of chips between us. We got 2 x sandwiches on whole meal with no chips. The bread was quite dry, obviously not fresh. On entering the spa, 2 of the facilities were out of order, one of the steam rooms and one of the saunas. Other than that, our time in the spa was lovely. I was in 2 separate rooms for my stay ( my choice) , both rooms seemed very tired. The 1st room smelt of cigarette smoke and both rooms had stained carpets. We had a cocktail each but my daughter’s first choice of a mojito was unavailable because they had run out of mint. The Drop Inn meal was very nice but the staff lack knowledge, my daughter asked for a pot of tea after her meal and was surprised to be told by the guy serving her that he didn’t know how to make it. The actual pub is ok inside but would benefit greatly by a more ambient atmosphere, eg softer lighting and maybe some simple table dressings to make it less canteen like. The staff are very friendly but in certain areas , they don’t seem to really know what they are doing. I feel I could have got a better deal for the same price elsewhere and had a better overall experience. We didn’t exactly have a bad experience but the whole place just lets itself down, it could be so very much better .
