I think the grounds are stunning but the rooms and all round decor of the place needs updating. It couod be a luxury hotel
The fact we had to pay separate for swimming

Reasonably priced-staff all very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfy.
The evening food was not great. The fried breakfast was a little greasy but the kippers were nice. The rooms were a little tired. The bath was uncomfortable.

Staff was really nice, roomservice was done properly. Breakfast was good but selection was limited.
Quite tired carpet floors (these need to go in my opinion) as well as halways. The furniture is also quite old but fine. Walls could need a new look as well. The pool and the gym were 8,50 GBP extra per day which was quite much in my opinion just to hit the gym once.

Bath could’ve been a bit cleaner but other than that the place was perfect :)

Hotel is a little tired

The staff were great and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable and had a great sleep, they were able to answer questions about the tram network that i was going to use and local taxis rather than Uber.
The breakfast was very average, cheap ingredients and doesn't warranty the price you pay for it. they would be better to up the quality of ingredients and not do it buffet style and cook to order. The hotel its self needs some updating, décor is dated and shabby, door hinges could do with some wd40 and the leisure centre should be advertised as a paid extra. The website makes it look like this is free to use to guests and isn't.

I arrived quite late and reception was closed, however there was a number to ring the Night Manager and he came through within a minute or so to check me in. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice, replenished quickly and hot! The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Parking is good.
I found the mattress on the single bed Room 64 to be a bit tired and lumpy now. I feel it's time that was now replaced.

Staff were friendly and willing to help, location was fine if you know where youre going. Far enough outside of Bury to avoid any unsavoury characters. Car park was big with plenty of spaces and the ground seemed well maintained. Didn't try the breakfast but it looked good from what we could see.
Room felt dated, the door was a slide door and didn't close meaning you could see the other person sat on the toilet. Floorboard sunk in one area of the room and the room was in an odd place in the hotel meaning the bed was against the external wall to the corridor and you got all the noise of people walking past on the squeaky floorboards. Finally, the bar area needs a revamp. It reminded me of my grandads post war house that hadn't had a refresh from the 40s until he died in the 90s. Ironically it smelled like his house as well, musty and old, triggered some fond memories when it probably shouldn't have.

Location and amenities - no disturbance.
Used spa facilities.
Little dated in parts.

Location, staff that I met were lovely. Room was comfortable and clean.
Curtains didn’t fit the window fully, so had a small gap at both ends. Small issue but window overlooked the car park.
Bar not open at 2pm and reception didn’t know when it would be open, small issue but had arranged to meet 10 family members there for 3pm, so made alternative arrangements.

It's just a perfect place for a restful overnight at a great rate. They also do a great breakfast though I had to miss that, today.
Nothing to dislike.

The location was perfect for what we needed
We’ve stayed here multiple times as it’s usually nice, but this was bad. The room was so old fashioned. The tea and coffee facilities were hidden in a cupboard so we thought there was none and actually went and paid for some drinks as we were parched when we arrived after a 4 hour drive. The bathroom wasn’t clean and had 1 little soap in it and two halves of toilet roll. The bathroom door once closed was very hard to open I thought I was locked in at one point. The shower had no hot water at all. There was also marks on the side of the bath. The pillows were like pancakes luckily there was a cushion on the chair in the room I used under them. They also now charge for the spa which didn’t used to be the case if you were a guest. There’s loads of hotels in the town which we will use in future. We checked out just after 7am as we couldn’t stand the room any longer

rooms are in need of updating cracks in our bathroom floor along with mould ,beds are hard and uncomfortable ,room went between hot then cold dropped in the night massively, telly was awful couldn’t get any decent channels it kept cutting out ,couldn’t use the wardrobe as there’s a bedside cabinet in front of it ,room was clean as were the beds but the whole hotel needs a serious revamp

Nothing, very dated.
The noise at night caused by other guests. Unable to sleep.

The staff were friendly and it is close to my aunt who I was visiting. Also dogs are allowed. So if I need to bring my dog on another occasion I can. Lovely breakfast with the option of continental when I needed an early start.
My room was just at the top of the stairs and it was incredibly noisy. The people next door had the television on and were noisy until the early hours of the morning.
Also the paint on the pipes in the bathroom was peeling off all over the floor.

Lovely grounds
Quite expensive for what you get. Rooms are not in good condition. Shower has almost zero pressure. Rooms smelt damp, beds not comfortable. Needs some refurb. There is a spa attached that used to be included in the price but now you have to pay for it. We used to like coming here because it was affordable and had good amenities (I.e spa). Staff were grumpy.

Dated, shabby, over priced
6.0 / 10.0
Handy location for what I needed. Plenty of parking
The mattress in my room was uncomfortable and lumpy. The walls are thin - I could hear my neighbour coughing loudly and their TV. Plus the floors and stairwells are very creaky and doors slamming loudly.
6.0 / 10.0
Bed was comfortable. Carpet looked relatively new.
Room was very cold despite radiators being on full - possibly hadn't been occupied for a while. Bathroom was badly in need of updating. Pine furniture could at least be painted to bring it slightly into the 21st century! Dirty footprints on the wall isn't my idea of wallart, that said the room wasn't otherwise filthy. Shame, could be a great place to stay with a bit of money spending on it - at the moment it feels like an 80s new build that's never had any upgrades (yes there's artex on the ceilings!).

The food was absolutely delicious
Location of room. There was a wedding on and our room was right near reception. So lots of door banging people running up and down. And talking loud outside our room.

We enjoyed our short stay, which was booked for a trip to the famous Bury market, for which the hotel was ideal. It was comfortable, clean and the staff were both friendly and very helpful. The restaurant and leisure centre were both excellent.
The stairs and corridors could do with an upgrade or a bit of a redecorating.

Tucked away in a convenient location for us, the building was fairly old but still quite cosy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The lounge area was like an old pub.
The mattress was pretty dead. The furniture and bathroom were outdated and in desperate need of refreshing. The breakfast was limited for choice and not quite up to par.

Too many stairs to room, noisy at night, a bit run down

Staff, Breakfast, Location
Kids Menu, asked for a family room 1 adult, 2 children 12 and 10, girl and boy. Got a double bed and a pull out double?? Have stayed at the property many times after my brother got married there. Always used leisure facilities, but now there's a charge? For what? NOTHING has changed in the pool area, except, the male showers does NOT allow children to use the showers?? Signs saying no children allowed, adults only? Absolute disgrace. Will now NEVER stay at the property

It was very clean and spacious and it was cozy all night with the heating on will definitely go back and highly recommend. 😊

The room was very clean and ee felt accommodated. The reception staff were very friendly and the swimming and gym areas were clean and well maintained.
We were told we didn't need to book an evening meal, as we could just go straight through. When we came down, we were met with a very stressed and quite rude bar worker who told us it would be 30 mins wakt and that we couldn't charge it to the room. When we came back up to order, she said actually you can. No apology or reason for the mix up.
I believe the chef was sick, but this left us and the rest of the hotel in a very unique situation, where they were only letting one table in the restaurant at once. No music, sound, people or atmosphere.
The food was delicious, but service lacking a little. A stark difference from last time we came.
There needs to be some sort of back up plan for when there's no chef, as we came for atmosphere and may aswell have bought takeaway and ate in the room.
Such a shame, because last time was lovely. We will try a different hotel next time, unfortunately.
