Uncomfortable bed. Very noisy. Lots of talking and laughter from other rooms and outside. Wifi had very poor signal, had no internet alot of the time.

rooms are clean comfortable. apart from one that should not be available. Tried to allocate this but from experience refused. They managed to change allocation as we checked in.

Absolutely awful would not recommend and would never stay again.

The location was perfect however the customer service was absolutely shocking. Greeted by a man who just said yes! After that even in the bar area they were not very friendly and at times bordering on rude!

Staff The room was okish. Beds absolutely appalling. 2 very bad nights sleeps due the conditions of the mattresses on both single beds. They should have been thrown years ago absolutely disgusting. Bathroom dirty toilet and toilet roll hanger fell off in the night. Other than the cupboards nowhere to hang outside coats in fact just very old dated and needs new beds. Breakfast faired no better poor quality food but the girl who served up was the only one who smiled!

Very pleased with our stay. An excellent location

A very comfortable twin room. Very warm. The double glazing was very efficient as we didn’t hear any traffic noise . Particularly as we were facing a busy main road. Tried to book for a night in November but unfortunately they are fully booked.

A couple of coat hooks. But there was a wardrobe where we could have put them.

Location was great,we know Newquay very well,chose Griffin for that reason.We did not enjoy breakfast,bacon dry hard difficult to cut and toast leathery.We gave up the last two days,cut our losses although we had paid and went elsewhere for breakfast.Both the beds in the room were dated,needed replacing.One of the foam toppers on top of the mattresses ,moved with turning and was slightly off mattress in the morning.neither of could get the wifi on our tablets.The bathroom was lovely but needed a towel rail,no where to hang damp towels and needed somewhere to put shampoo and soap in shower.p

Good and bad parts

It's a central Location perfect for everything local shops, pubs train station the beach straight behind you what more could you ask for its a very very busy place some day the pub was bursting at the seams to get a table the food they serve is 100% delicious The breakfast is delicious, and the ladies who serve you your breakfast are a delight they are a breath of fresh air, 1st thing in the morning they are so full of joy and its lovely to see they are very pleasant

The Griffin is a lovely place but it needs to pay a little more attention to general housekeeping. it's not up to standards some parts are clearly been missed and its shows there was a big spillage stain that had ran down the wall in the breakfast room , the skirting board was very dusty on table 19 in the breakfast room the wallpaper between the 2 pictures on the wall its cover with fat splashes of food particles of some kind , the paper is very greasy Our room. There is tea stains down the radiators i cleaned them ,also stains down the walls next to the window where a drink has been knocked against the wall these are just simple daily high & low tasks that housekeeping are missing The mattresses could do with an upgrade and the pillows wow the only thing they are fit for is the bin They are in 3 pillow cases to give them shape I checked they are are mattered together they shocking they are totally flat and rock hard there is no shape to them at all We had to go to Sainsbury's and buy some pillows for our room just so we could get a comfy sleep 😴 so if your looking to book take your own pillows the lights in the room lol what's the point of having bedside lamps if you can't have them on because as soon as you turn the overhead central room light off its also turning off your bedside lamps so your in darkness there all connected on the same loop so you have to have all 3 lights on at the same time a bit stupid if you ask me this needs sorting out Also this hotel is dog friendly and allows dogs in bedrooms which I did not know at time off booking if we had known this in advance we would not have booked this hotel

Staff generally can make or break a stay, they didnt make our stay!!!

Room was lovely, very comfortable bed and pillows. Hotel was central to everything.Food was fresh and very tasty.

On the Friday evening we got back to the hotel at 10-15pm to find the bar closed even though there was a wedding going on in the function room, there was a bar man there and we asked about a drink only to be told he had had no one in so closed, we had to really stress that we were staying at the hotel he eventually let us get a drink, i had a white wine and when i said it wasnt very chilled he said no it isnt is it, not really the reply i expected.

Great location for exploring and getting about. Room was clean and tidy, good beverage try in room and storage.

Mattresses are very soft and could do with replacing, needed windows open as it was hot which meant there was a lot of noise throughout the night. Housekeeping wanting to clean the room at 9.45am.

Only problem was the noise from Wetherspoons until early hours of the morning and the constant roaring of the motorcycle that kept going around in circles. Not something that the hotel can control.

Had to book into primer inn instead £163 spent.

We liked the location

We tried calling after making the booking to Let the staff know that we will be arriving late. However we called & we kept getting a message saying staff are unavailable & are unable to answer your call. We have call records showing the times of all the calls we made to try & inform staff that we would be arriving for 12:30 or 12:45 & would it be ok or should we cancel the booking. We could not get hold of any staff member. I’m still waiting for a refund for not being able to use the room I booked. We just keep getting no where with booking.com or the Griffin Inn. If I do not get a refund I will never be using any of these services again. So if anyone from management can see this message please contact me. This is not acceptable as we tried calling on many occasions while travelling to the location & got no where before the closing time of the Griffin Inn.

Great location in the centre of Newquay. Free parking. Excellent breakfast. This was our second stay and we would definitely stay again.

Strange lighting as we couldn’t have the bedside lamps on without the main lights being on. Hard pillows.
