The view was beautiful from the room
The shower and bathroom was a bit dirty. Shower barely had running water was like a dribble.
Pool and hot tub were cold and steam room not turned on so couldn’t use that either.

The view, location - easy access to town and restaurants. Parking.. excellent breakfast.. super comfy bed with great linen and pillows staff super helpful. Loved having access to the spa
The water out our bath literally trickled out. Shower tap head missing or really difficult to turn. Not enough milk and hot chocolate. The room was incredibly hot 🥵

Breakfast was lovely
The location was great for views and walking into town
I stayed at The Atlantic Hotel in Newquay recently and experienced a situation that I believe was not handled appropriately.
While getting ready in my room, water began leaking through the ceiling from the room above, directly above a light fitting. A member of staff attended and witnessed the leak before going upstairs, confirming the source as the room above showering. Given the proximity to an electrical fitting, this was understandably concerning.
However, no room change was offered, no maintenance or safety check was carried out at the time, and the only reassurance provided was that the guest upstairs would not shower again. This did not feel like an adequate response to what could have been a serious safety issue.
I raised the matter again at checkout but was told no manager was available and that I would need to follow up by email. I did so promptly, but more than a week later I have still received no response beyond an automated out-of-office reply.
I gave the hotel the opportunity to address this privately before posting publicly, but the lack of response has been disappointing. I hope the hotel will take this seriously, both in terms of guest safety and basic customer service.

The staff were amazing , so helpful. The food was very nice. Fabulous breakfast, evening meal good but overpriced. We ate out the second night.
Sadly the outside of the hotel is not very good and that has put us off going again. I booked swa view with Balcony and the balcony was unusable and unsafe ! We were not told this.Given the weather we had we couldn't have used it anyway but even if it was dry there was no way we could venture out onto it.
There were also structural works going on on level 3 that we were not told about either ! We were level 2 but could see all the scaffolding..
As above ,the outside is looking very sad. Lots of things boarded up and broken.
Windows were full of condensation which stopped you from looking out at the view.

The location is perfect
The bed and pillows were uncomfortable - asked for new pillows, they were the same. I let reception know and was told that comfort is a preference, (not really when you pay for a 4* star hotel) and that the bed was ‘superking’ it was measured as a queen size. Apparently the surly patronising lady I spoke to said hotel bed sizes are different, handy excuse if you assume at 47 I’ve never stayed in any other hotel. I told her I was there to spend time where i felt close to my mum (scattered ashes there) after a significant breakdown and some time away to not think about every day life. Her response “if you’re not well enough you shouldn’t have come” helpful & judgemental so we can add that to list of laws and policies broken.
The drains in the shower, double sink were atrocious they smelled SO bad!!! we also reported this - no cleaners were sent. I also told them that the balcony door didn’t lock!! Then I was told the maintenance guy and cleaners did in fact attend but the DND sign on the door meant they didn’t knock. Please know that we had no idea this was actioned on this day, no call/email to inform us so we could be available. Such great communication for 4* ! This was then translated as us not being willing to accept help 🤣
The state of the room itself and issues raised with management were not just the stench (that we bought cleaning stuff for ourselves due to poor communication), but the tea and coffee area was filthy FILTHY with crumbs from the previous guest. The skirting boards, carpets, curtains and most surfaces were grimy and unkempt and also stank.
We left a day early on NYE, missing the meal we booked and paid for (relieved tbh)
The staff looked broken, the atmosphere was off, sinister and cold are not an understatement. You cannot get refunded on any of the issues raised, you have to email the senior management team who were not on site and not available.

Having stayed here more that fifteen times in the last twenty five years, the Atlantic remains a true high point in Cornish accommodation. We were fully prepared for the visit being out of season so knew in advance that the restaurant would be closed and the occupancy far less than summer levels. The room was large, clean and well equipped with sublime views across the harbour and over the beaches and Newquay as a magnificent vista.
Sadly, the hotel has lacked maintenance and investment in recent years and on this particular visit the roof had appeared to have had more leaks than a welsh greengrocer. there were several buckets placed to catch drips, and it certainly detracted from the feel of a high class hotel. We do appreciate that roofs can sometime 'spring a leak', but the sheer number of incidents led me to feel this was a longstanding issue that had not been dealt with.

Super friendly helpful staff. Hotel full of character and a blessed change from the usual hideous corporate creations that typify so many hotels today. It was very clean and nicely decorated for Christmas.
This hotel is like a classic car. Beautiful to look at but like a classic car they need a lot of love care and maintenance but this was sadly very lacking in this hotel. A lot of money needs now to be spent on it but it seems that this is not happening. From leaky baths to heating not working to lifts not operating to fire alarms going off in the middle of the night. Sadly, the breakfast does not live up to previous reviews and was of poor quality ingredients.

There was no one there. No staff around, no one drinking in the bar or in the resturaunt. The hotel was empty for a saturday night.

Good Breakfast
The Silks restaurante was closed. No afternoon tea. No coctail lounge. The bar wasn't open during the afternoon. The sauna wasn't working. The lift was out of order on Friday. The kettle in our room was burnt out. Dirty lift. Dirt around the windows. The bath panel had been fixed with cardboard. Very, very poor!

The bed was comfortable. Loved the roll top bath. Room was clean. Staff were friendly, flexible and wanted to meet our needs. Spa was relaxing and decor was pleasant. Views were epic in many areas of the hotel. Cooked breakfast was yum. Location amazing. It was good value for the money we paid. We loved the history of the building. Its a place to be appreciated. Remember, if the hotel spend money on updating it - the prices go up. Its not a shiny shiny place to go. Its an antique and i think they are doing a great job of keeping it open for us to experience and enjoy.
Pillow was lumpy. Spa could use more regular attention - mopping up floors, topping up water. Oat milk - get a different brand. Current brand has bits in it. Less heating throughout hotel? It was too hot in areas. Even though we turned off the heating in our room and opened a window it still got too hot overnight. We didnt eat dinner at Silks as only 3 course option - too much food for us and no choices that we fancied.

We had a lovely stay, soon as we walked into the hotel we had a nice welcome from the front desk team. The room was amazing sea views with are own private balcony which made are weekend. I would 100% stay again.
Dint think the spa was worth paying more money for but we still had a good time in there

there was no evening meal on sundays friday/Saturday was set meal only and very over priced the pool hot tub was freezing cold the bed was not comfortable as it dipped in the middle told we had a mini bar but was none also no ironing equipment asked for plates was refused staff extremely noisy on mornings room was serviced sunday but did not change bedding so had same bedding the full stay the room had not been vacuumed when serviced in my opinion it was not worth £360 for 3 nights i do appreciate we had a nice warm room and lovely views and i was also asked to pay an extra £10 each to use pool sauna and hot tub

Great location and breakfast. Dining hall was large and had a great view. The staff were nice.
Booked the hotel for the spa and nothing worked. The hot tub is broken but the staff didn’t want to admit it. The sauna isn’t hot and the steam room is faulty. A local told us that the place is up for sale so the owners have stopped putting money into the place which is obvious. The bar wasn’t really open. The hotel was dark and felt abandoned at times. The shower had no pressure and the side panel was falling off. I wouldn’t stay here again and feel a bit ripped off to be honest.

The venue - perfect for a grand occasion. Lovely comfy room, with plenty of space, clean bathroom and friendly reception staff.
The queue at the bar and the cost of the drinks! Breakfast staff quite grumpy!
