Dinner was excellent! Restaurant atmosphere and service was outstanding. So nice to see a real part of Switzerland with only local people in the restaurant. Breakfast had a good offer and the fresh bread was very good.

My go-to hotel in Schächental, to recommend

My second stay at this hotel for hiking in the surrounding mountains and for seeing the waterfall Stäubifall. Room vas extremely clean. Excellent food. The veal liver was delicious. Gentleman who speaks English was very kind, helped me carry the suitcase upstairs. He was attentive, efficient and quick to understand and fulfill my requests.

Check out time at 10 o'clock. 11 would be perfect.

We enjoyed our stay!

It‘s walking distance to the Stäubifall which is the main location we wanted to visit. The place is peaceful and beautiful. The room and linens smell so fresh and clean! The staff are friendly. The breakfast is nice. We arrived before check in time but they gladly gave us the key to our room. Staff are helpful. Lots of walking/hiking trails. Will not hesitate to come back!

Traditional beautiful Swiss property with mesmerising views

This property is gorgeous, we felt like in a movie staying in traditional swiss property with the best mountain views. Size of the room was huge, bathroom was spotless like brand new fittings. Room was warm and cozy. Hotel's staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was good too but selection could have been more. They. have car parking too. The property was very well maintained.

Exceptional hotel with super-friendly staff!

Amazing hotel in a gorgeous valley! Super friendly staff, beautiful accommodations, big beautiful room with comfortable bed and the meals are exceptional! I stayed for five nights and would gladly return for a week! There is so many hiking opportunities to do; hike the beautiful Brunnital just across the street, the lift from Ribi to Wannelen and the hike down to Staubli waterfalls was stunning, as was the hike up at Klausen Pass. I also took the bus to Dagerlohn and took the Chilcherberge lift up the mountain, which is an exhilarating ride! Hiked from there back to Golzernsee; this is a bit of a challenging hike with mind-blowing views! Also took the bus to Intschi to take the cable car up to Arnisee. Another stunning hike with incredible views! Unterschachen offers so many options in such a lovely little village! I always looked forward to coming back to Hotel Alpina for their delicious dinners and lovely selections of beer and wine after a day out exploring this beautiful area of Uri!

Pleasant hotel with personal touch. We loved it!

We were pleasantly surprised with Hotel Apina. This was a late booking, so we really didn't know what to expect. We found the rooms spacious very clean and comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant and really enjoyed our meal. The hotel is tucked away in the Alps with beautiful scenery.

Hotel in small village in very scenic mountain area

Location was in a small village in very scenic surroundings, including Klausen Pass (one of the best in Europe) and waterfall. Room was basic, but included what we needed. Host provided decent breakfast and was able to provide gluten free bread as requested. Parking was easy. The hotel also served as the only restaurant in the village and had a reasonable menu (at a price).

Nearest full size supermarket and other restaurants were a 10km drive. The adjacent church bells rang at 4 am for some minutes and at regular intervals at other times (which disturbed sleep if you had windows open...a necessity in hot weather).
