INTERESTING…

Ideal location for the venue we were socialising at on the night of our stay.

Like a ghost hotel. Didn’t see one member of staff throughout the whole of our stay. Made several contacts to two separate mobiles and a landline (as well as via the booking.com message centre) because there was no hot water to shower with - STILL waiting on an answer and I’ve been home for nearly a week!

Short stay for a wedding

The hotel has a lot of potential. We did not book breakfast as we were going to a wedding and felt that we did not need a full breakfast on the morning of the wedding. The location was close enough to the wedding venue to meet our needs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was good, but perhaps in need of re-decoration.

Good place to stay

The room was well appointed and comfortable, which made for a good nights sleep. The bar was reasonably priced for the area. The staff we're friendly and helpful. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

The lack of available food for the evening was a bit of a let down. However, I believe this is temporary as they are currently without a chef.

pleasant stay , comfortable room and very quiet. Checkin starightforward enough , but once I had umpacked , I was then told I had been put in the wrong room and was asked If I would mind moving to another room. Straightforward enough , so not a big issue . Room was clean, bathroom with bath appreciated. Nice village Castle Donington, have been in the area many times but never actually been in the village. Several good pubs and a couple of takeaways .Will stay here at Donington manor again when down that way again.Thanks

The room I was in smelt of damp and you can tell it is really old. Really needs a thorough renovation. It was ok for what I was using it for, just a place to get my head down over the race weekend. But wouldn’tstay here for a get away/holiday.

Very Dissatisfied

How dingy and tired it was inside , lots of repairs shabby looking , very neglected In a time warp . Needs a major upgrade , no breakfast available even though it was included in price . No after hours contact that was answered in a situation. I booked a suit with 2 large beds and ensuite , I was presented with a very small room double bed nothing like what I had booked , was told by the manager there was no such room at this hotel and he’d have to have a word with booking .com why these photos were on this booking site 🙄😳😱 I was offered the only thing remotely available for a one slightly bigger bedroom , and small bedroom with a bathroom down the hallway to share . We only stayed one night of the 2 , ran out of hot water in shower first night on first shower , no hot water next morning . Bathroom very dated and shabby . No one in reception when we left . Mailed management on booking site , asking for refund on at least second night , no reply !!!!!! I wouldn’t recommend this venue , big disappointment.

Eccentrically English

It’s a beautiful period building with lots of original features. Great location in the village so easy to get to local shops and restaurants. Evening meal was lovely. Locally sourced food and home made bread. Room was a little cramped and bathroom tiny. Fine for our one night stay.

The staff were all lovely but there weren’t enough when we checked in late afternoon. Receptionist was having to answer the phone, check guests in and serve drinks at the bar. She summoned help for dinner time and that was fine. We were happy to be patient but it could have been annoying.

The location was close to where we wanted to be.

Booked an accessible room and couldn't get the wheelchair through the door,it was extremely tight and hadn't got a big enough turning circle to get the chair Into the room and the bed was in the way, as well as the door not opening fully because of the radiator.The floor was not flat due to the raised lip on the floor and the whole room was small. There was no toilet roll in the room and asked twice for some and waited 2 hours for it.The carpet was filthy and needed a good Hoover we found several nail clippings and the bathroom floor needed a good sweep. We were booked for 3 nights and only stayed 1 and will not be recommending to any of our disabled friends.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel, meeting up with friends and having a very good time.

My room was very clean and comfortable. The food at dinner and lunch was excellent. The owner and all the staff were very friendly and extremely attentive, catering to all the needs of everyone in our party. We all had a fabulous time. I would certainly consider staying here again.

The hotel was a little tired in places but, speaking with the hotel owner he said that he is now concentrating on working hard to bring the hotel up to a much better standard and I believe that he will be true to his word.

Hotel is jaded and could do with a makeover. That said it suited our needs, was reasonably priced, attentive staff and good breakfast.

Disappointed and frustrated

The location is good.

Checked in at 5pm. No hot water in the room when we arrived. They moved us into different rooms but still not hot water/heating in the new rooms. Spoke to receptionist again regarding the issues. At 10pm that night still not hot water in the rooms. Didn’t have any hot water to the room until 6 am the following morning. The rooms are outdated and grubby. Mould on bathroom sealing as it’s just plaster bored and hasn’t been plastered or painted.

I expected better

Location was central

Cold room on arrival on a very cold night, central heating not on although there was a convector heater on one wall it did not provide warmth across the room, the hotel did provide a second convector heater upon request. Twin beds when we thought we had booked a double. Beds more like cots had one thin cover. Bathroom no window and no extraction fan, ceiling above the bath very low and full of thick black mold, because of that we did not bother using the shower.

Easy travelling distance to Donington Park GP Circuit. Central to Castle Donington. Clean but very dated.

Easy fixes like rubbers along the shower glass meaning water leaks all over the floor. Things that could easily be removed like the 1980’s communication system. Old worn our furniture. Small investments would make this a lovely hotel.

The Hotel was no problem and everything we expected, the problem was Booking.com that did not send the correct information to the hotel and we were lucky to get the 2 rooms we booked. Well done to the hotel but an extreme poor show to Booking.com

We stayed here to attend Download festival. The location was great, right near the bus station to get to the festival each day. Staff were all really friendly and extra thanks to Sandra who saved us from the spider who popped up in our bathroom 😱 Great little tea shop around the corner who also had super friendly staff. Unfortunately they are fully booked for Download weekend 2024 🙁 Room was clean and comfortable and good value so no complaints

Lovely stay, excellent restaurant.

The booking was part of a gift for my Mum & Dad, attending an event at the track and their feedback was very positive. They had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. They said the staff were very friendly and dinner superb. They spoke highly of Craig Riley, exec chef and operator of the restaurant, who I understand was out of the kitchen and they ended up speaking at length, which they loved. No negatives reported, so thanks for delivering a great stay for them.
