Mini break

The staff did their best to make our dining experience pleasant as we were the only guests. They lit the fire and gave us some good ideas of places to visit.

I think the tart had been microwaved as it was rather hard It was ok though and I did eat it!

There was not soap in the bathroom. the shower had no shampoo or conditioner. The room is a lot smaller than protrude on website. Breakfast wasn't included. The bar and restaurant facilities were not great.

Lovely intimate venue and hotel

Authentic farmhouse style. Large and well decorated rooms. Great on site parking. Lovely venue for a wedding but a little cold in the barn for an autumn/winter wedding. Very sweet courtyard. Great customer service at the bar and restaurant. Food was nice too. Perfect for an intimate celebration.

Quite expensive for a one night stay and it didn't include breakfast. Would have enjoyed a cocktail at the bar but obviously not a deal breaker!

Relaxing, pleasant and friendly

A Beautiful Hotel in the countryside. Friendly staff, clean, tidy, comfortable. What more can you want... The Menu is small but the food was excellent. It's not a new City hotel so don't expect glitz and grandeur. The views are beautiful and it was lovely to wake up to postcard picture out of the window. The breakfast was great with good coffee.

Slightly dated bathroom but it's a historic country hotel. Could probably do with a self contained shower rather than a bath but that's personal preference. You will hear the race track next door, but that's a positive for me.

Not a lot. Parking was OK.

Pancakes and bacon were awful with a dribble of maple syrup it was not really edible. Room was tired and rundown (room 3). My wife's breakfast of scrambled eggs was good though.

Only being able to pay by card! the card machine didn’t work all was ok with my bank details and correct pin but as I tried 3 times it blocked my card so had to leave my lovely chilled glass of Prosecco as I only had cash in my purse.

Loved everything about this hotel apart from the plane noise and if not for this would have visited again in the future

Beautiful surroundings, well kept property, lovely gardens, great room, welcoming and friendly staff who also made our dog welcome and didn’t put us in lesser room because of her presence.

Noise from East Midlands Airport as hotel is directly under the beginning of the flight path. (I had no idea it was so close) I was wearing good quality earplugs but I was still awake for hours because of this.

Great place to stay but not in hot weather

The room was extremely hot (circa 29 degrees). The small room fan was inadequate. The rooms need air conditioning. The only solution was to have the windows wide open all night , and then I was subject to frequent takeoff/ landing noise from aircraft as East Midland Airport is only a couple of miles away.

A wonderful stay, perfect for my needs and more

For my trip, perfect location, opposite the race circuit. Breakfast was tasty as was the coffee. Room was a lovely surprise, lounge area, 2 tvs, fantastic walk shower, air con. Wish I’d stayed longer.

Wonderful wedding trip

Stayed here for a wedding. Stayed the night before and the night of and it was just lovely! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. It’s such a gorgeous countryside hotel and the food is amazing! Our room was so lovely with wooden beams on the roof just further adding to the rustic barn look.

Our room was located in one of the outbuildings and the only way we could access it was up a steel spiral staircase (like a fire escape stairs). Wasn’t too much of an issue but was a bit nervy getting up and down.

Pleasant enough for one night, but would not base a holiday there.

Hotel was a good location as we had spent the day at Calke Abbey, and need a room for one night only.

The hotel is on the airport flight path so quite noisy. Some lights in the room not working. Laminated warning signs balanced on the wash basin should be framed on the wall as you have to keep moving them around. Toilet roll holder falling off the wall. Judging by the gutters I could see from the room window, all filled with vegetation, I would say maintenance needs to be addressed at the hotel.

the surroundings and grounds were lovely. The staff were lovely and friendly and the breakfast was amazing.

There was a lot of noise overnight due to planes and work on the grounds started very early in the morning.
