The bar was excellent, well managed and friendly.

Breakfast was €15 for the buffet. I ordered only porridge and coffee but was still charged for the full buffet. The shower was also nearly scalding and impossible to adjust.

The breakfast was really good, and the staff was friendly too. The staff I felt was very helpful with any questions or concerns we had. The room was a bit odd. It's great if you are really short. My mom and I hit our heads in the bathroom a few times and the room too. The vent in the bathroom needs to be fixed, it makes a lot of noise.

Just wish the room had a warning label it, unless I missed it. I think because of the design of the building.

Great hotel, bar and restaurant in a tiny village.

Stopped here for a night after visiting the Cliffs. Hotel was very cute and the staff very welcoming. We enjoyed drinks at the bar and the food was delicious. The bar next door, Greene’s, was also very cozy and the bartender lovely to chat with. It was a perfect tiny village stop.

I advise no-one to stay there until it has been sorted out.

room 41, smelling damp on arrival. damp mold found on curtains, bath tiles ,bath panel. The shower rail has rust along its length. There was no heating on in the room and I had to ask each day for them to put the heating on. There is no excuse for for bad housekeeping and hotel upkeep.

It was an okay place to lay our heads down at night, but would not return.

The room seemed "damp" the whole time. And on our last night, we heard a critter running around in the walls. The lobby area had a funky smell.

Excellent overnight stay .

We had a huge ground floor room - room 40 . Easily accessible. One huge double bed - probably king size & a very large comfortable single bed. Both beds very comfortable. Lots of space in the bedroom. En-suite also was large. Shower over the bathtub. Really nice toiletries inside . Very clean all throughout.

I've stayed here previously, 2 years ago. This trip (June 2025) was just okay. Alan checked us in. He was efficient and pleasant.

The room was a bit shabby. I had a better room during my previous stay. The service at the bar was not efficient. The bartender needs training. The waitress walked by a few times without clearing plates. Alan came in twice, and was mindful enough to clear our plates. I watched other guests waiting for their drinks and food. Just because there is a 'large party' in the dining room doesn't mean other guests receive sub standard service. Hire more people, or train the ones you have better.

Fantastic location, lovely staff but very shabby and run down

Staff were lovely and great evening music in the bar, food looked excellent even though we weren’t eating there

Hotel was very shabby, radiator in the room was broken and on full heat, had a skylight window which the double glazed unit had broken down and you couldn’t see through it, all around it was filthy spider webs and dead flies. Left one day at ten and came back at 3 and room hadn’t been cleaned despite the sign left out. Cleaners knocked on the door at 3.30 asking did we want our room cleaned then, despite us having an afternoon nap. Day before cleaner on her phone when we arrived at 2, went out and came back about an hour later still talking on her phone you could hear her talking all the time on her phone. No management around for the two days we were there and it was very obviously needed

Disappointing

It was close to the fabulous seafood restaurant The Monks down the road

The photos did not reflect the current state of the hotel-needs some sprucing. Unable to open window, super stuffy, bed uncomfortable. We found the staff a little rude. Did not spend much time in the hotel, went next door for a drink and down the road to eat. Expensive but I guess could charge because not much else around of open in this location.

Upscale, clean, comfortable, very good breakfast

The hotel was very upscale from what I expected. The room was large and comfortable. The breakfast menu included hot and cold choices. The cold choices were from a buffet. The staff asked if you wanted any of the hot choices. I always ate from the buffet so I don't know how the hot choices were. Guest parking was provided. It was in a good location for the things I wanted to see in the area.

The layout of the rooms was very confusing. My room was on the top floor at the back and since there was no elevator (and no staff seeming willing to help) I had to carry my own, fairly heavy, luggage up several flights of stairs, as well bring it down when I checked out.

Not recommended

Lovely location and mostly friendly staff, but many reservations

The whole place feels run down and shabby. Our room overlooked the kitchen extractor fan so was noisy as well as smelly, and the staff used the area outside for smoking. In addition, the room was grubby, the bedside lampshade was wonky, the telephone did not work, the extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy, and there was a pervading smell of damp. The final straw was on our second night when the fire alarm went off around 3.45am, waking everyone up. We exited our room and went downstairs to reception, to find there were no hotel staff on the site at all. Thankfully it seemed to be a false alarm, but the lack of support in this situation was to say the least alarming, and probably illegal. Sorry to say we probably won't be coming back, and I would be surprised if this hotel is in business for much longer.

A 11/10 Hotel - One of the best in the UK for me

The hotel was SUPERB and some of the reviews on booking.com are frankly unbelievable. Someone complained about breakfast - it was FANTASTIC, with fresh orange juice and wonderful choice of food, someone else complained about the food in the restaurant- it was EXCELLENT and of the highest quality and another moaned about the young staff, they were super friendly, efficient and professional. I am not sure what some people want but having been to almost a hundred UK hotels this is one of the very very best! The icing on the cake is the FREE live music every night in the wonderful bar. Wow!

Nothing other than the ridiculous reviews moaning about it when it is so obviously a 10/10 rating. In fact it should be 11/10 due to be the live music.
