Fabulous room and clean. Food and night staff not 100%

The room and how clean it was

As it being my 5th time there,I do really like the hotel,but as far , the dinner was poor we received it in 3 minutes we hadn’t even got our drinks and been in the hospitality industry with 15 years there can only be one way it was done. Lamb shank was lovely but everything else with it like vegetables and sides were not. Which brings me to breakfast, the menu was very accommodating and had loads of options on it, we went with the full Irish, it was very dry, over cooked, and no beans?, In a full Irish breakfast and had to ask for toast, all seemed confusing to me. Also the night we woke up at 1 am, and were very thirsty and did drink the water provided in the room but needed more. We went down to reception looking to see was it ok to get 2 pints of MI Wadi blackcurrant and a glass of coke, the night porter had no idea what i was asking for and said he doesn’t know what mi wadi is. I showed him pictures of it and he said I’ll see what’s on the shelves if we don’t have it we don’t. I explained it was juice with water that’s all and he said I’ll see what’s there. Luckily another young guy was working and explained to the night porter it’s blackcurrant and water and he went himself and looked after us, but was charged €5.10 for a glass of coke by the night porter. Overall the room was fabulous as always, day staff were well accommodating.

Relaxing friendly and cosy.

We walked in the drive with the large trees and were welcomed by a lovely bustle of people sitting in the foyer having a drink. The room was warm and reception staff were lovely. Our room was so clean and calm. Beds were new and pillows fluffy. Bathroom was lovely. Missed the bath but that's a small thing shower was huge. Went down foendinner and drinks to be welcomed by a lovely team of servers and buss biys/girls. Live trad music for more than 2 hours. Slept like a princess and had breakfast in the room. Small mix up.with the card order but was no bother to sort out. Easy friendly and nothing was a bother. Loved it.

Car park was full but plenty of parking nearby.

We loved our two night stay in Old Ground Hotel, Ennis and Co. Clare. Thank you everyone.

We found the staff very helpful and friendly. We had a problem in our first room and we were moved immediately. Room was comfortable, breakfast was lovely and the Town Hall restaurant was a lovely experience.

Improvement in TV channels.

Needs a little attention. Painting/ work/ decorating. Lifts extremely noisy. Door opening onto giant fusebox where kids could electrocute themselves.

Wouldn’t stay again

Girl at the desk gave one key card that was to be used for the lift. Card didn’t work. Had to go back to reception to get the card and another staff member asked why I only had one card. The room was roasting. Couldn’t get air into the room. The room was dark. All the lampshades had marks on them. Shower curtain was covered in stains.

AS a whole it was charming and well kept. The breakfast and pub was lovely except for the leak.

Our bed room had a leak in the floor and we were unaware the musty smell from the carpet was from the bahroom. It took a couple of days but we were upgraded the last day of our stay.

Lovely hotel location wise, rooms were generally nice, food a huge let down.

Staff very friendly at reception, cleaners really friendly, hotel in great location & spotless throughout. Lobby area & bar attached were well decorated, etc.

The food is atrocious both mornings for breakfast, reheated dry food with plates scolding hot either coming from microwave or oven, nothing seemed fresh. Waiting over 30 minutes for a full Irish on the first morning with no one seemingly in control in the dining room. Experience was a little bit better second day, but food just as poor. Room was spotless but toilet clearly didn't flush properly and should not have been in use if this was the case - we reported to cleaners first morning. Fridge in the room also kept nothing cold, not sure if it was even working.

It was very restful and friendly.

We only ate in the hotel for the three days and the breakfast was lovely. The evening meals in the Poets corner we also delicious

On the day we were leaving we had to have our breakfast in an auxiliary room, which in itself was fine, however the standard of breakfast was not up to the standard that we had had the previous two day,s I suspect in part because of the large tour group, although the hotel should have been able to handle a large number for breakfast.

Great hotel in the centre of town with fantastic staff and beautiful food. The rooms are good with very comfy beds. Soap etc all provided. Highly recommended.

Disappointing

Location is ideal as it's in the centre of Ennis. It has cosy fires and sofas and nice, homely feel.

I hardly slept because it rained all night onto the cheap, tin roof outside the bedroom window. It sounded like a machine gun. Also I checked in with 3 friends and their rooms were ready but I had to wait half an hour for mine.

Nice friendly hotel, but a bit pricey for what you get.

Warm friendly local hotel in a great central location in the town. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean and well maintained. Bar is lovely and breakfasts were excellent.

As with all hotels in Ireland, massively overpriced. Irish hotels seem to think its ok to charge 5 star prices for a 4 star hotel. Can't help but think you'd get a far more bang for your buck in mainland Europe.

I won't go there again unless restaurant and soundproofing will improve

- location - huge parking lot - staff is very helpful and creative - wifi is great - bathroom is excellent - clean and modern

- very old facilities & furniture in the lobby - restaurant is closed by 9pm - the bar is VERY small - all people from the restaurant are flocking there and it quickly become overcrowded - room is old and cranky - my room was next to elevator shaft and my dream during the night was about working for OTIS :-)

When reserving the room on the Booking.com website I specifically requested a quiet room away from generators, air conditioning units, boilers etc. My request was confirmed by the Hotel shortly after reserving the room on the Booking.com website. When I checked in at the Old Ground, I was allocated a room overlooking the rear of the hotel where there was a generator humming constantly day and night. I had to sleep with the windows closed tight, but the humming could still be heard.
