Quiet place to take a cold shower.

Should have spent the extra £10 and got the hotel with a pool.

Location was good. Parking was secure.

Having to hand the key in when we went out. Locks on toilet were not great. The duvets and linen weren't the cleanest. No view out of the window. 3 star apparently but I've stayed in better 2 star by far.

Well located close to the train station, photos look better than the rooms but the staff was nice and welcoming even for a late night arrival.

A modest place that can need some refreshing, like changing the old stained carpets and old faucets in the water room. Heard leaking water at night and the bathroom smelled smoking 🚬, our first given room was not cleaned after the previous customer so we had it changed, and they couldn't get us a room with separate single beds.

Bad experience! Room weren’t clean especially bathroom but the worst was having plenty of bedbugs!!! Horrible experience

The room and bathroom wasn’t fully cleaned and the worst was that the beds were full of bed bugs. My son got more than 50 bites in a night. Moreover there was noisy room neighbours that walked on the top and make a lot of noise through the night! We’ve been coming to the Cecil hotel for years but this was our last time! Horrible experience despite the night man niceness.

Disappointing.

The hotel is situated in a very nice area!

Staff was kind but the hotel was a complete disappointment. There was mold on the bathroom walls and shower curtain. Disgusting and unhealthy! beds were uncomfortable. We only stayed for one night, otherwise I’d go somewhere else.

An ok place for a one night stay

I have been to Cecil Hotel many times since 1997; I choose it because it's a no frills solution for a one night stay and it allows rest in a quiet area of the city, walking distance to the main city centre. The staff on this visit was most welcoming and helpful for anything we needed. Despite the garage was fully booked we managed to park a few metres from the hotel so easy stayover.

The building shows visible signs of wear and tear. Our shower box had no internal light and the curtain was dark brown, making the experience a bit "dark". The bathroom had one hanger which got detached and got left on the window sill. The basin's drain was partially obstructed and emptying very slowly. The shutter for the window was not long enough (!) so we either had a gap above or below it was impossible to have total darkness in the room. Finally the lift is the smallest I have even seen so it struggles to fit more than 2 people.

Bad experience

Good location in the city centre

Small room. Not as clean as it should be. There were stains in some walls and bed. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the pillow was thin. Worst hotel room I had in France. I called during the week to book a parking spot and they confirmed it but then I arrived at 11pm and not only they had no parking for me the guy at reception had no idea about it and could speak english properly. Their only solution was to point to a public parking so I can park there and then walk 15min in the night back to the hotel.

Good

Nice building with helpful staff. A short walk to restaurants. First room was not good and asked to be moved. Found us a much better room and sealed the room that we had left to sanitise it. Nice to to know that the rooms are really clean. Parking was provided for the motorbike.

Very good

Wonderful apartment with several nearby eating options. The sushi shop just north around the corner was very good. The walk along the Promenade and the Quai was quite pleasant. The views from the balcony were wonderful.

I wasted my money ! the hotel is old and dirty.

The two morning staff was friendly and helpful. I also like the cleaning crew.

Everything apart for the breakfast. the whole hotel was dirty with permanent stained, old carpet, the hand sink was blocked, the remote control was not in good condition, we was given a wrong key to our room by the evening staff (A master key) .

Location is Great! really close to everything important and fairly quiet as well. The breakfast was ok too and some staff members are trying to provide good customer service.

Hotel reminded me of a low budget hotel or hostel even. It is very plain, which is not a bad thing but bathroom was run down, the mattresses uncomfortable and just all around a super small room.

Close to rail station.

Memory. 18 yes ago I met my ex-wife there. And we spent a wonderful time together. The water faucet is under the glass shelf. To wash myself with my 190 cm had to bend twice.

We had a terrible experience at this hotel. The first room they gave us was dirty and untidy. It was obvious that someone stayed there last night and no one cleaned there. It was smelling horrible also. When we say that we can't stay in that room, they gave us another room. The second room was quite cold, 15 degrees, I checked the radiator and it was not working. Any of the radiators weren't working in that section of the hotel. We went back to reception and said this is enough, we don't want to stay there. They didn't want to cancel our reservation after all of this happened. We had a call with booking.com customer service, but the manager didn't respond. We left the hotel and didn't stay there. The day after we wanted a refund but again no one answered. Finally, we send them an email that shows that it is our legal right to leave the hotel after seeing the terrible rooms. They refunded in 3 hours :)

Very good

Nice hotel at walking distance from the city centre. They have a garage where I could park my motorcycle. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was OK, with delicious pancakes. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Location is good and in an historically interesting area. The secure hotel car park is a bonus in this busy city. Helpful staff and our room & bathroom were well-equipped. Over-all, very good value for money.

No air-conditioning. Our bathroom needed refurbishment. The entry to the car park is narrow, so care must be taken.
