It was so close to the beach. Access from the garden was so convenient. I took my two dogs with me and they enjoyed it too. It was peaceful, the shops are a short driving distance away, also makes time to see the surrounding area.

I liked everything. It was Just enough space for me and my dogs. I definitely want to go back. The Host was very friendly and accommodating. I would have loved a coffee shop nearby that’s walking distance but there was more than enough coffee provided by the host to sit on the back porch and observe sunrise and sunset. It was just beautiful.

What an absolute gem 💎 you virtually step onto the beach ⛱️ a beautiful sunset. Could not have hoped for better service. Our hostess was friendly, helpful and willing to go way beyond her call of duty. Would highly recommend. Room was exceptionally clean and the Linen crisp. I was charged full amount after I was told we can leave and I will get my money back. I complained about moist smell in room.

Santie was absolutely brilliant we love her amazing friendly personality and how she helped with everything we needed. It's a stone throw from the actual ocean. Very quiet and an amazing place to relax.

Looked like ad on booking.com

No cleaning/ housekeeping provided. When I asked for cleaning I was told I'm playing games as it states on booking.com that its selfcatering and you must clean for yourself. I double checked booking.com and it definitely did not state that. Plus the price you pay should include cleaning. No broom, mop or anything except dishwasher soap provided in room. No sink or stove , cause self catering should include stove

From arriving to leaving it was like home. Santie, the owner, what can i say. She is the most humble sweet person.we left as friends. And dont get me started on her two dachshunds. We had our two with and it was magical. We will return for sure.

The view and privacy of the cottage! The friendliness and accommodating nature of the hostess.

The weather but obviously there is no control over that

The host Santie was very friendly, helpful and professional. The place is a gem and very accessible to amenities. Very safe and tranquil. I would recommend it again and again.

Nothing I didn't like.

The location, ocean view. The apartment was spacious. We booked a different room but due to a leak in the booked room, the host informed us on the day of arrival that we will be staying in the two bedroom apartment (considered an upgrade from our initial booking).

The two bedroom apartment was damp due to several leaks and we regularly had to mop the tiles in the apartment. There was a dog flap installed and on arrival the owner mentioned she had it installed as she was suppose to live in this unit, but it did not work out that way, and now it only rains in through the dog flap. She was aware of this but offered no option to prevent rain from entering through it or provide extra towels to stop water entering. We realize we visited during a stormy winter period, but expected the host to inform us before arriving of the dampness and leaks. One coach was soaked due to leaks, which we could not use. The curtains had mold on it from leaks over time. The kitchen was poorly equipped in terms of plates. Only 4 big plates and 4 cereal bowls, no small plates. Bathroom door could not close due swelling of wood. Toilet roll holder was broken and fell off the one nail it was balancing on at the lightest touch. Almost none of the windows could close because of corrosion on the handles. Bathroom looks bigger on photos. The shower curtain was too short causing the bathroom floor to be very wet when taking a shower. The shower head only sprayed water through half of the head. The water was not hot, but lukewarm (not warmer than body temperature). Property in need of maintenance. Had a run in with the owner about rates when we wanted to re-book for a visit in summer time through booking.com because we got a better rate through booking.com than through her. She threatened me by saying she has ways and means to cancel our booking so we better cancel it by that afternoon. She became insulting and rude when I questioned why the rates are then lower on booking.com and she cannot force us to book directly with her. So be careful when what you share with her when you have intentions to return during summer months. Based on the rate p night, 14 Penguin seems to try and compete out of its league. What you see is not 100% what you get.

Host was excellent and very helpful. Henry even made a restaurant booking for us. Communication was excellent throughout.

The Bookings.com listing showed the property to have an ocean view. We were in a unit which had no view whatsoever. This is a shortcoming of Bookings.com and not of the establishment itself.

Close to the beach that made walks with our pets easy.

Unit a bit small and only one bathroom was challenging.

The view was excellent! Melkbosstrand town is very clean and beautiful.

To invest in a more comfortable bed.

Santie was baie vriendelik en het baie mooi na ons gekyk! Die view is fantasties, met die see op jou stoep en perfekte aande vir n braai. Ons het baie lekker geswem ook! Die kamers was baie skoon en het alles wat n mens nodig het. Ons gaan definitief weer binnekort terug!
