Hermanus: stay at Ruth’s homely nice and quiet place all in walking distance

Perfect accommodation. Homely feeling with kitchen, good shower and well sized bedroom. Ruth is the perfect host! We spend two days in Eastcliff Cottage and enjoyed the terrace surrounded by trees where we had breakfast. The proximity to Checkers, the entire city and the ocean is another plus. All is in walking distance.

Just perfect!!!

We had an amazing stay! The location was perfect. Everything is within walking distance and it is absolutely safe to walk everywhere even at night. Ruth was the sweetest and most caring person, always making sure we had everything we needed. We felt completely at home and loved sitting out on the beautiful veranda overlooking her lovely garden. Would absolutely stay here again!

Ruth was the consummate host … friendly, welcoming and responsive. The cottage was clean, tidy and perfect for the two nights we spent there. It was close to everything … shops, restaurants and the cliff path which offered stunning views of the ocean.

Exceptional location, in a quiet street but minutes away from the cliff path, shops, restaurants. Facilities are all you need. Quiet peaceful garden with lots of birds. Great shower, comfortable bed, lots of towels. Ruth is a great host.

Relaxing in the accommodation after a memorable walk.

Ruth was a great host, so friendly, and a mine of information about Hermanus and surrounds. We had secure parking and our favourite, enjoying the well laid out cliff path which is very long, but many entries and exit. Thank you for a great stay.

A gem right on the edge of central Hermanus

Staying at Eastcliff Cottage dispelled a long-held myth that we harboured, that Hermanus can only be truly enjoyed and appreciated when accommodation is a seaside hotel or self-catering apartment right across from the ocean. Instead, we had a quiet and tranquil garden to enjoy the bird life at dawn or to retreat to at any other time, a mere 400 steps from the cliff path at The Marine Hotel. It is close enough for the sound of the waves to lull us to sleep at night yet just far enough away to avoid most of the noise that follows mankind about. Another 400 steps or so placed us at the front door of most of the shops and restaurants in central Hermanus and the old harbour precinct, making dining out or getting the ingredients to prepare our own for a candle lit dinner on the deck at the cottage a pleasant stroll away. Ruth, the engaging and helpful owner, went well out of her way to ensure that our stay exceeded expectations, a welcome break from service personnel one would so often encounter elsewhere. If this were a game of some sort the score would have been Seaside Accommodation 3 Eastcliff Cottage 5. Genuinely looking forward to staying here again when next we are in Hermanus

Cozy spot at great location in Hermanus

Very nice apartment on a quiet side street in the middle of Hermanus with restaurants, stores and the cliff path within a few minutes walking distance. Ruth was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Bonus: we spotted an owl in the garden 2 times :)

Comfortable, peaceful stay at Eastcliff Cottage.

Eastcliff Cottage is on a quiet street, just about 300m from a large Woolworths store and the beginning of the shops and coffee shops. Great Location. The cottage has a verandah(portch) which is great for sitting outside under the trees for breakfast, lunch, dinner or any other time for peaceful lounging (sturdy metal chairs and seat covers supplied). Parking bay inside the property under the trees in the shade. Property is safe behind electric wall-top fence and electic motor gate. Good sized bathroom with great walk-in shower and old-world bath.

Quaint peaceful cosy cottage with everything you need - great host!

Most lovely and cosy little place with a peaceful and beautiful lush garden under large trees with lots of birds. Our host, Ruth, went out of her way to organise us a bottle of good wine - incl extra special wine glasses - when we were exhausted from the long day and not in the mood for leaving the comfortable tranquil deck area with the Weber braai. :-) Great location. We will come visit again. Thank you!
