Have stayed here before and will book again
Excellent location close to The Mater Hospital .
Car can be left in the hospital carpark the night before.
Bathrooms are a bit dated but clean
3.0 / 10.0
No direct contact with the owner. Incorrect property correct contact no made the stay a problem.
The bed was comfy. The reason for picking the accommodation was its proximity to the hospital and that element did not disappoint. It is always nice to have an ensuite bathroom.
While the room was very warm on arrival the rest of the stay was not as warm. While I did spot a heater in the press inside the door. Given the warmth of first night I was not expected to have to use it.
I was in room 7 and the boiler or whatever it was, adjacent to my bathroom did not let up and noise was particularly noticeable during night when you were trying to sleep.
There was no direct contact with the owners of the property apart from messaging via the Booking.Com App . Not only that but the phone number supplied was apparently for Castle Hotel not even for the accommodation. I found out when I arrived. I had a synch issue between my Ipad and Phones app and as a result the means to enter the accommodation was not visible on my phone. As I was expecting to be met by someone the only other way of trying to figure out how to enter was via the contact phone number, which as mentioned above was not even for that property. Bearing in mind I had 2 elderly parents with me, one of which was here for an operation the following morning standing out in the freezing cold trying to figure out how to even get in. If it was not for meeting a couple entering while I was trying to wait for that contact number to come back to me, which never happened, I dread to know what I would have done. Luckily they explained the whole receiving a message with the instructions to enter, which made me take out my Ipad, which I luckily brought with me, to access that same message.
It should also have been clear that for anyone with mobility issues that there was several flights of stairs with no lift access. Which my elderly parents struggled with.
There was free wifi but it was barely usable to which I eventually just switched to mobile data.

Eccles Townhouse review
Clean, modern facilities with a very comfortable bed and pillow. Friendly staff with delicious soup and brown bread available downstairs in the bar area just off Eccles street. Straight across the road from the Matter private hospital for those who maybe attending. Overall excellent and I would stay again.
This is a very old property and a listed building with lots of character and a long series of stairs to get to the bedroom accommodation overhead. Also for those attending the Matter Private for medical procedures and who have to fast from midnight, it would be great if Eccles Townhouse provided a late night snack or sandwich. Just a friendly suggestion.

Avoid terrible place that should be closed down as soon as possible
I’m afraid I can’t say anything pleasant about this property. I stayed in room number 4 and the mold in shower cabin and beside the windows was very bad
Mold in a room. It is unhealthy to stay in conditions like this one. The reception is only open until 5pm so if you are arriving later you will have a problem

Great place to stay
Comfy bed, nice and warm. Good location
Just couldn't figure out how to reduce shower temp. Tried for about 10 mins but stayed too hot to use shower. Simple thing which I could have asked for help with but didn't have time. Otherwise a great place to stay

Amazing place!
Had early appointment for the Mater hospital so booked this room for one night. Best decision ever. Friendly considerate staff. Great room, warm and cozy. Hairdryer, kettle etc . everything you need when away from home . Have already booked again for my next appointment.full Irish breakfast when I returned from the Mater hospital was amazing.
Some Noise of traffic, sirens ...but I wasn't sleeping good so maybe that didn't help.

Great Irish Experience
The room is located on top of the cafe which was an amazing experience. The room was clean even though a bit outdated but it’s located in the historic building so that was expected. Staff downstairs was very friendly, food was delicious!

Perfect for my trip
Lovely warm room comfortable bed, great shower, didn't have breakfast was fasting going to hospital. Enjoyed our stay and nice little gift box with ear plugs but we didn't need them, quite enough for the street outside the window.
Everything perfect.

Excellent value
Despite an unimpressive exterior, the internal accommodation and facilities were excellent, and very clean.

Enjoyed the stay good security and had all we needed.
Liked everything , liked that earplugs and eye masks were supplied as it was a different room than we had a few weeks ago and was a lot brighter due to outside lighting and a little nosier from traffic , but these made all the difference.
From the moment of arrival it was home comfort. Everything was brilliant, exceeded my expectations because the price was so reasonable, and some of the reviews had minor issues. I can assure you I'm choosy about my hotels. This hotel did not disappoint me..absolutely beautiful, brilliant breakfast, brilliant location, brilliant room. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Very impressed!
When I booked I contacted to request shower versus bath. It transpired all rooms had showers. The owner picked up I had mobility issues and offered to allocate a room on first floor to me. Off to a good start! The room and it's facilities were hotel standard and well exceeded my expectations. The breakfast was excellent in terms of quality and value.
It was obvious that cosmetic work was being done to wall to left of door. When that's completed, there is little to fault!

Warm, comfortable room and bed.
Wi fi very intermittent and unreliable. Shower was scorching hot on one day (eventually got it adjusted right), then stoney cold the next.

Excellent
The location is excellent, about a 15-minute walk to the center. There is a shop across the street. The room is comfortable and warm, but there is a fan, so everything is fine. Coffee, tea, and water are available in the room. The apartment does not have an elevator. The Irish breakfast was really good, they also have a vegetarian option, and you can even have a vegan breakfast. The staff was friendly.

Son was taking part in Marathon, location was good
Was noisy at times through the night with different residents but not enough for it to create any real issues.

The guest house is in a great location near Dublin City centre. The beds are comfy and self check in process was straightforward. Compared to other accommodation we had checked this was very reasonably priced

Just what we needed for a short trip to Dublin!
We arrived early in the morning and we were welcomed by the brazilian girl at the bar. She was very friendly and even allowed us to check in early which was very much appreciated, specially on a rainy day. The room is spotless and the bed is very comfortable. We had read a few reviews regarding the noise from the street at night but we had no problem whatsoever. The hotel provides earplugs for the light sleepers but we didn’t even need them after all. The location is also very good, just a short walk to the city center. It was our first time in Dublin and we would definitely stay here again on a next trip!

Perfect
My wife and I spent one night, the room had a pleasant atmosphere, everything was within reach, from an iron, hairdryer and ingredients for morning tea, very clean bed linen and the mattress was wonderful, we had a great night.
I have nothing to complain about

Not suitable for female traveling alone.
I left before breakfast. I think I was charged for it.
Really appreciated a reasonable room at a fair price. However, no elevator was a problem as was the many stairs. I needed the taxi driver to help me get my suitcase down.
See above re stairs. Also I was unaware the cafe would close and no one would be there all nite. Being elderly female this was not safe. No place to leave the key. This needs to be advertised differently so others know it’s a do-it-yourself type of accommodation.

Considerate host and clean rooms in a great location!
The instructions were fairly clear on how to access the property and the room after normal check-in hours. The tea-making facilities were lovely and the room, including the bathroom, were clean. All the amenities stated in the listing were there. There was even a small table fan in the room, as well as bottled water during a heat wave in summer - very considerate of the host! The location is fantastic as there is a small convenience store very close by.
The shower didn't drain very well but it wasn't too much of a hassle if you take short showers. The towel rack above the toilet wasn't very securely fastened but still worked just fine. The location is great but there is a fair amount of traffic, including emergency services, during the evening. However, not only are there double windows to dampen the noise from outside, earplugs are also provided for guests.

Great Location in centre of town
I liked the location, the bar downstairs and the staff. The breakfast was also great. It is easy to walk into the middle of town. Great for travellers who don't have a hire car. Parking was available in the hospital for 15 euro overnight but awkward to access as only one exit through hospital once parked.
The lack of parking provided, the lack of ventilation in the room. The windows didn't open I presume for soundproof purposes.

It was good, nothing special
Easy check-in, got the job done for a one-night stay
Very small room, thin walls, seemed over priced for what you get - but it did the job for my one night stay

Convenient, well presented rooms with cafe below
Well presented room. Although on a busy road near a hospital, there was two layers of windows installed (not actual double glazing, but second internal window in front or original sash window) - with both sets of windows closed was nice and quiet. Close to a couple of pubs and takeaways. Only 20 min walk to GPO. A delicious cafe on the ground floor.
Was a bit warm for me with the windows shut, but a portable fan was supplied, so this was okay. On the day I arrived, my room wasn’t ready, but I left my bags, so it wasn’t a problem.
