Beautiful old church. Original features and in a great location Friendly staff but not enough on reception to help.

Long delay checking in as one staff left at reception (and she was new). Room not cleaned by 4pm in the afternoon so no clean towels when we returned after lunch. Hard to find a member of staff to help.

An enjoyable stay and will stay again on my next visit to Mechelen.

The hotel is quite impressive as it is converted from a church which appears to have the original stained glass windows and altar piece. My room was in the monastery section with a small balcony overlooking the patio (which was not in use during my stay). The room was very spacious with windows on both sides so excellent cross ventilation. There was very little noise from outside even though one wall was facing a street. The bathroom was very nice with a deep tub and shower. Breakfast was buffet with a wide array of foods and breads.

The chaise longe in the room was a bit shopworn and had stains. The end table had water damage from cold beverages. I used only the sheer curtains in the room at night for ventilation with the windows open. However, the lights on the patio were left on all night which made sleeping difficult.

Location was perfect, spotlessly clean. Good bar, and super breakfast

Parking was unavailable, but to be fair we were able to park about a 2 minute walk away

Wonderful welcome, lovely location. Very large and clean room with a large and comfortable bed.

I hadn't appreciated the lack of natural light in the room (with the windows effectively being blocked off with the replica stained glass) and the bathroom needed some ventilation, meaning it took a long time for the steam to clear in order to be able to use the mirror.

I have been twice and will come a third time

Comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast. Close to the centre of the city but quiet. We like the ambience in the hotel , lovely decor throughout.

Only one thing… we like reading and it was difficult to read with the dim bedside lights.

City Trip with my 10 year granddaughter.

The room (junior suite) was spacious, the bed was very good as also all amenities. But I would have preferred a walk-in shower due to my neurological disease.

OK despite the room

the main hall and the location in general were great .

We we very disappointed with the room. Old fournitures. little space in the room. this hotel shows on her internet site how beautiful their rooms are but there are a few of those. We have had a standart 3 stars room. nowhere on there site they are showing this kind of rooms. We we really so disappointed. Too much money for their standarts.

Very good

The hotel is built out of a deconsecrated church and is interesting for that alone. My room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was excellent. And the hotel is just a short walk away from the town’s main attractions.

However, I thought the room was overpriced and the car parking charges excessive. Thinking back, I’d say that a fair price would be 50% less than the total charged to me. So, a good hotel, but not worth Euro 200+ for a standard room.

A whole experience

The staff was very friendly and kind in giving us the information of the city. Room was clean and had a nice fragrance. Very good breakfast.

The details in the room were nice but some had a dirty look. Paint on the nice stained glass windows for example. The sheets had some tears in it. A shame for such a nice place.

Lovely atmosphere but more attention to detail/ maintenance expected from 4 star hotel

Lovely room just like the photos. Breakfast was wonderful and the location central. Polite staff. The spa function of the bathtub was fantastic. There was a coffee machine and two bottles of water. Parking at Lamot parking garage was very convenient.

- On arrival the elevator did not work. - The heating function of the airco did not work ( staff offered a mobile heater though) - The sink was clogged - Only 4 coffee capsules provided complimentary. More would have to be bought. - No trashbin in the toilet. Embarrassing if you discretely want to dispose of sanitary articles - Dirty knife at breakfast - Rather bad sound insulation from the top floor

Gorgeous Hotel!!

It’s a beautiful hotel, welcoming friendly staff. The room is gorgeous, spacious, comfortable bed. The hotel is located very close to the city centre, many restaurants and shops are at a walking distance.

Disappointing! Location not near centre as we had been led to believe! Overrated for what it is!

Attractive, large rooms BUT none of that is helpful to anyone if you're freezing cold!!

Reception most unhelpful! They were slow and with only one on duty at a time, despite several other people being in the background office!! When the queues increased, no one made any effort to come and assist the sole Receptionist! Reported a heating problem within the room (Xmas time, so it's very cold). Supposedly it was attended to! But we had a terrible nights sleep, heating banging loudly and intermittent! Only left one toilet roll which for a hotel of this standing is unacceptable! Had to request a kettle to make hot drinks as we were so cold! Obviously no one in the hotel has ever tried to plug this kettle into the wall! The cord only reaches if you go by the entrance door and use that plug! Pathetic! Why don't hotel's get their staff to stay in their rooms occasionally to test/try them out for themselves!! Then they'd experience being cold! Not being able to get to sleep due to noise etc etc. TV had very limited channels! Location not near centre as we had been led to believe and when we visited, the chaos of building work surrounding the hotel, made the bottom of our cases absolutely filthy ! Sand, dust etc. Not good.

Staff at reception was nice. Location near the centre is very good.

Breakfast not fit for such a pretentious hotel. Breakfast staff just unfriendly. Design of breakfast room terrible. Can't imagine an interior designer was involved. All drab colors. Whole hotel needs a make-over and they should show the fact that is used to be a church much more. We found it all really depressing. We ordered an upgraded room which was still small and very dark. Nothing special about it.
