A wonderful hotel with everything you need and fabulously friendly staff.

I left an item of clothing in my room and I would specifically like to thank Zoe at Reception for helping me by posting the item of clothing back to me in London. Zoe was so patient in explaining the process and so efficient in getting this done. Thank you very much for the kindness and professional attitude, Zoe. The shower was amazing, just by the way. And the breakfasts were fabulous. The mini fridge in the room is a great plus.

Hotel restaurant doesn’t take online bookings for one person so I had to go elsewhere. The shower try was not non slip. Fridge in room wasn’t cold.

Not worth the money

Honestly, this hotel is not worth the money. While the location is amazing (smack in the middle of beautiful Mechelen) and the beds were quite comfortable, just generally there were too many nuisances that weren’t addressed appropriately.

We arrived around 4pm, as agreed upon, and were sent to a room that was still being cleaned, before we were given another room. That room really wasn’t clean: hairs in the shower, dirty toilet… To top it all off, on the first night of our stay, some other guest came into our room at 5am (probably given access to our room with their key card by mistake) so not a great start to the weekend. When I went to the front desk to tell them what had happened, they were very apologetic and told me that they’d discuss with management how we would be compensated. However, they simply didn’t get back to us at all. It seems like they just don’t have their ducks in a row, which is dissappinting especially given the price range this hotel is in.

Very spacious room and friendly staff, the wellness spa is nice for a refresh in the morning.

Mattress topper wasn't very comfortable and room has some unusual features 5 chairs around the room and water easily overflows and sprays out of the shower. Lighting is a bit poor as it comes from mostly lamps around the room.

Outstanding.

Fantastic hotel. Interesting history. Very central. Very accommodating allowing us to park our motorbike in their garage for the night. Lovely spa facilities. Beautiful city.

Come for location and breakfast, stay away for the beds

- Location! - Controllable AC in the room - Bottle of sparkling water in the room - Superb breakfast with lots of choice.

- Our assigned room was A) dirty (Q-tips and other garbage in the sink), B) did not have a queen bed like we had requested months prior and they had confirmed - We got a different room, great! - Turns out it’s actually still 2 separate mattresses made like a single bed. Whatever. - When we get back to the room to sleep we realize it’s ridiculously (>23°C) warm - By the morning my girlfriend realized the bed she was in is like a fish bowl: you sink deep in the middle, so you have to lie on the edges. She literally fell out of bed twice during the night! - During checkout we report this and the front desk staff don’t seem to care at all, no discount on the breakfast even!

Super great staycation!

friendly and hospitable staff, top floor room, soft beds, free apples and chocolate coins! and good soap/shampoo, beautiful structure as they maintained some of the features of what it used to be. a place where you can still see history

no toothbrush kit provided in our room, the shower drain was partially clogged because the water builds up and won't go down, have to pause my shower to let the water down first. Neighboring room had noisy guests too
