A disappointing new year

The property was clean Free car park was very close and handy

A full and useful guide to the property and how everything works. A welcome pack (even just basic - eg pint of milk, small loaf, orange juice etc) Showers had no power and the one in the en suite leaked into the kitchen so was not usable Sleeps 6 but one only usable shower Sleeps 6 but only seats 4 at dining table No washing machine (would bt useful) Glassware was questionable - no wine glasses of any real decent size. House was freezing upon arrival and took hours to warm through. Felt very cluttered. A good 10 min drive from saltburn despite being labelled as saltburn

Bedrooms rather small, small beds 4.6 were the largest you could use due to the size of bedroom, annoying you could not park at the cottage.

The property was difficult to find. The map showed it in the wrong location and a proper ground address would have been useful instead I had to telephone Sykes Cottages to obtain the full address. The post code was useless.

Character cottage. Great for getting to Staithes and Saltburn. Local shops convenient, too.

We took our own breakfast, so it was great.

Fridge was not working properly - wasn't cold enough.

Very enjoyable, peaceful and relaxing, just what we needed.

It was very clean and well equipped. I had taken toilet rolls etc but didn’t need anything. The beds were comfortable and the Wi Fi worked very well. We took our dog and were very pleased that he wasn’t restricted to only certain areas, he settled down straight away and was his usual happy self.

The directions for finding it were dreadful, we were sent to Liverton following the Sykes directions. The settings on the cooker have disappeared, not being familiar with electric cookers I found that difficult but eventually worked it out.

No parking (it says it has parking at the property on your website which is essential for us, as we have a baby and 2yr old) also the cottage just seemed a bit cluttered. Difficult to open and close the front door..

Nice retreat in area close to Staithes by car - a little TLC and decluttering would go a long way

Nice looking property, easy to access, clean and good value. Cosy with log burning stove. Very near to Staithes and a good base for Whitby. Large bedrooms with well stocked kitchen.

The showers were a little old and difficult to work. Maybe a few less ornaments and decluttering may make the place more fresh looking. The rooms need curtains and blinds as very bright in the morning. Loftus was a bit run down but easy to get into a car and drive to other places.
