Green, quiet oasis on Ihla Grande

Great garden hostel with a little courtyard and hang-out area with hammocks. Small bar too, where you can buy beers and drinks. The staff are very chilled and laid-back.

There could be a bit more space in the dorms for backpacks and stuff. Also, the two bathrooms were often busy.

Nice until the end, but sadly a bad ending.

Nice atmosphere, helpful & nice staff and sometimes they make a barbecue or a bone fire. They have good kitchen equipment and plenty of showers and toilets.

The last day a buddy of mine cooked at 2am. There was a discussion between the staff and him, whether he could cook now or not. He didn’t care and boiled some water and poured them over his instant noodles. Afterwards he asked me, if I want some too and I said yes. When we talked, we only whispered. A few minutes later the staff come by and told us both “You guys need to leave tomorrow, you understand” The next day I checked out and asked if I could leave my bags (like every other visitor before) and they told me “no, you need to pay the late checkout fee”. I get that cooking that late in the night is not the nicest thing, but kicking me out as well and making me carry my luggage around the island the next day is a bit much, isn’t it?

Cozy place, good people

Warm place, warm people. Good hostel at the main village of island. Roman, Leif and remaining crew was very helpful for everything. There was a good community in the common area. Feeling pretty good for a very short visit.

Toilets felt a bit dirty but it can be expected to feel for shared toilets.

Amazing vibes and location, Roman was a fantastic host and made us feel really welcome, loved the cosy fire at night and it was really sociable.

Amazing hostel on ilha grande for balance of chilling and socializing.

Great vibe for couple and solo travelers alike. Super friendly staff that helped book activities and give recommendations for the island. Beautiful property, great kitchen!

Bed was quite firm. Smokers took up the whole outdoor space (yes I get it’s a backpacking hostel but hard for non smokers especially in the mornings.)

The stay was disappointing and we didn’t get the experience we expected from the falsely advertised pictures and reviews

- Well located - Enjoyed the hammocks and appreciated the kitchen facilities - Nice common front area

- Construction outside our room woke us up, was very dusty, loud, and staff didn’t care to notify us or apologize about this. This also meant half of the common area wasn’t accessible or usable and didn’t give the relaxing island vibes we paid for. - When we brought this up with the front of house, we were told to speak to Roman about this – however, he was never available to speak to, and the only time we saw him he was drinking. It didn’t feel like we could speak to him about this and be taken seriously. - A kitten was kept in a box just outside our room, so all we could hear was its crying throughout the night and in the morning.

Great location. Good A/C. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful with recommendations and advice on transport.

The bed was quite hard and the top blanket had a damp smell. I had to request a new towel as the one I was given was stained.

The stay at Mambembe Hostel was great. I can recommend it very much. It is a very good hostel to get in touch with other people. The atmosphere is good, the staff is friendly and cordial and you can have a lot of fun. If you don't like that, there is also a quiet place where you can withdraw. They take good care that it is clean, give good tips for excursions etc.. It was great ❤️

Good hostel and staff members, the guy at the reception, Roman, risked his life to save my little sister from drowning, i am forever grateful, buy him beers if you see him. Camille can be friendly and even warm when it's not too early in the morning !

Unesessary drama caused by a volenteer!!

The hostel is amazing with a great atmosphere 👌

Sadly, a volenteer (who seemed to be harassing varioua women at the hostel) lied and accused me of bringing a girl from outside which was not the case as the girl was clearly a guest and known to the volenteer. This caused me a lot of discomfort and unnecessary drama during my first night on holiday. Long story short, the management should have apologised to me and handled the situation better considering I was a guest at the hostel.

The property is very close and convenient to the town center. It had a nice vibe, good breakfast and a nice common area to hang out and meet other travelers. I appreciated that the hostel also respected quiet hours after 11. Delfi from the staff was amazing and was extremely helpful and accommodating to me. cool hostel and I would definitely recommend.

It was perfect. Staff is great. Nathalia knew my name right away before i even told her. She has everthing undercontrol and helps you with everything! The hostel is clean and has a nice social area, where you easily meet people - also because of the staff. There are no moquito nets but the Fan helps to keep them away during the night.

it was okay overall but nothing like mambembe rio. it could improve a lot if managers could be a little warmer and kind

-good to socialise. spacious common areas. - coffee every day

-small dorms no space to move around - messy. -no curtains or lights around the beds -staff not very attentive to guests needs (like if I arrive at night with a heavy backpack and i have to wait a long time to check in) and not very friendly/warm - I didn’t like how the guy who manages the hostel spoke to my friend when I let him know he was with me and he just wanted to have a quick look at the hostel (garden).
