Location okay and close to the town centre
Been in a middle of refurbishing the hotel
8.0 / 10.0
Nice breakfast, choice of cooked breakfast, cereals and toast, also some cakes. Juices and a coffee machine. Nice quiet atmosphere, plenty of room, no hassle. Staff were very helpful. Visited in February so it was a quiet season.
The hotel was being refurbished so there was a lot of work and noise going on during the day. A lot of corridors were sectioned off and people were getting lost, but it is a very large hotel. The room i was in needed updating which is probably going to be done some time. Otherwise what was available was comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Had two rooms - one refurbished which was fine and comfy, the second was old and very poor with a more than worn bed.
Whole stay , though, was ruined by the start of refurbishment work in the room next door that started at 7:30am which in my book is unacceptable.

We were very happy with all aspects of our stay. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, however we were a deflated by the welcome when we first arrived.

The hotel was in a great location for what we needed. The restaurant staff and food were excellent.
Car parking was good - free on a weekend. Loved the fact there was iron and ironing board in room as well as tea/coffee facilities.
Although we appreciate the hotel is currently being refurbished we stayed in an already upgraded room at the back. The room was modern, clean and tidy however the windows were terrible. We could hardly see out of the windows due to condensation on the inside of the double glazing. Fortunately that meant we couldn’t see the back car park and bins however we did hear late night deposits into the bottle bins and early morning construction workers. In addition there was a loud tannoy which went off several times between 10.30pm and 6.15 am. There was no Wi-Fi in the room and no telephone to contact reception. Although not wanting to sound pedantic I would say that the new black out blinds look great but unfortunately light comes in at the sides so if you need a darkened room to sleep they aren’t great.

There was free parking
No one on reception. Appalling smell, expensive rooms and the breakfast was the worst I have ever eaten.

Shower was hot and powerful
It was dirty and smelt of rotting food. The reception staff were rude and unhelpful. When checking in I only had my payment method on my phone. The receptionist said she could not check me in without a physical card and offered no alternatives or solutions.

Nil.
Got woken up at 8am by extremely loud building work, sounded like the building was collapsing, constant pounding which was not mentioned at all upon check in and booking. Because that wasn’t enough. I was staying alone and a male member of staff decided to walk into my room whilst I was in bed naked at 8am keeping in mind checkout is at 11!!!!!! completely unannounced no knock nothing. Would highly recommend staying away as when I was checking out, there was another vulnerable lady that experienced this too and she was staying by herself also. Seems like the male staff pray on females that are staying alone. Very unsettling and uncomfortable as I travel a lot and have never experienced this before.

The location of this hotel is excellent for Shirley and Solihull and the surrounding areas.
A lot of car parking space.
All the staff were very pleasant.
The room we were put in, which was supposed to be a recently refurbished room, was freezing cold and the heater had been left off. There was condensation pouring down the windows and it wasn't at all inviting. We decided to ask if we could be shifted, the staff were happy to do this for us. The second room we had, although a lot older was a lot warmer and welcoming. However, this room clearly needed an upgrade too.
The Breakfast was average.
We understand that this Hotel is in the middle of being refurbished. We're hoping that when it's finished it will be a lot better, as it has potential to be a very nice hotel. If this happens, we would try it again.

Room itself was newly decorated so was nice & clean.
The room was cold & took a while to get warm. In the morning we had no hot water to have shower or wash.

I stay here monthly. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Above and beyond. Willing to do anything to make my stay easier (I have mobility issues)
The rooms closest to the lift are still awaiting renovation but im sure once the work is finished it will be perfect

We went their to celebrate our friends wedding
The 2nd floor we were on the hall carpet seemed old and stained on the approach to our room. The tea and coffee options in the room were very basic. No hooks in the bathroom fur robes or towels

Very good. Good value for money.
Took up the Thursday 'Burger and Beer' offer for a tenner (more or less). Picture clearly shows Burger+Fries+Beer. No fries included. Very misleading. Not good.

The bedroom had been recently refurbished and the bed was excellent.
The en-suite bathroom had not been refurbished. The door was old and dirty, the shower in the old bath with a curtain was a a bit shabby.
A lot of noise late at night outside our room window at the front of the hotel from the outdoor smoking area. A lot of noise and thumping music until after midnight from a ground floor function room in the other room we booked which was on the 2nd floor.

Refurbished room with nice carpets. Bathroom was excellent. Friendly staff and lots of parking. Breakfast met expectations.
One route around hotel to room 145 was not fun with bags.
Corridor carpets dirty due to workmen refurbishing rooms.
Evening bar staff lack basic people skills and politeness.
No barista coffee for breakfast?

Room was very large as was the bed. I was visiting the family so the location is ideal.
There was a noisy birthday party immediately below our room. It was due to finish at 10.00om. By 10.35 it was still going on and we could not sleep. I had to get dressed and complain to reception who then in fairness stopped the noise.
On our second morning the shower pressure was non-existent and we could not shower. The toilet flush was not powerful enough and did not clear paper in a single flush. Room very hot and no heating controls.
On first morning asked for a poached egg and none provided. No berries for yoghurt. No Marmite for toast!!!

The room size was really big and set out was nice.
On arrival the room was Extremely cold and the windows in the room where open! I had to call down to reception twice as the heating was all turned off!! The room took ages to heat up! One sink tap barely ran water, WHICH was cold!! The hot tap ran NO WATER and NO RUNNING WATER from both taps in the bath! I realised this in the morning as I didn’t arrive till around 11pm. When I told the lady at reception all I merely got was a half hearted apology!

Should have started with rooms closest to reception as you walk through the rundown ,, grubby bit to get to decent rooms
Need a windiw cleaner inside and out .
