A perfect, peaceful retreat in the countryside, not too far from Cambridge.

The Stables was exceptional. The chalet itself was lovely - but the setting was what I loved the most. It was rural, and so peaceful. We were able to sit quietly and enjoy watching the falcons swoop and the pool and surrounds were just beautiful. It was a perfect way to end our trip before heading back to the city.

Beautiful overnight stay

Loved the location. The host was welcoming, and dogs were even more so. Decor throughout, and the place in general was stunning!

The Stables in Cambridge is gorgeous

We loved our stay here. All the little touches made it special. From the fresh sourdough with creamy butter and condiments, yummy muesli and fresh yoghurt for breakfast with nespresso machine, to the comfy beds and beautiful linen and not forgetting the waterfall shower. Penelope is a lovely person and a super host and she was very kind when I accidentally broke a glass a spilt some wine on a carpet. Thanks so much, we will be back. ♥️

Hideaway Retreat

Beautiful peaceful surroundings- nice for a few friends to have a night or 2 away. Comfy beds, great fireplace and linen etc. Just have to eat out for dinners.

I think it would be best to point out there was no cooking facilities at all. No hob or microwave - not just no oven. A little more privacy between the main house and guest house would be good too. We could see straight into their living area, as they would be able to see straight into ours, and therefore the pool etc. I didn't realise the main house was so close - so we were careful not to be too loud etc.

The most beautiful place to stay! We absolutely loved being away from the city and having a quiet place to relax.

Disappointing stay

Good views overlooking the swimming pool.

No cooking or food warming facilities. Strange decor and furniture all seemed to be recycled. Towels and sheet not changed in 3 night stay. Pillows too soft giving no support. Had to supplement with bath towels. Incongruous dated pink and wobbly pedestal wash basin in shower room as you entered the unit. Metal bath situated on decking outside the unit.

Great location and the loaf of bread was a nice touch. Enjoyed the owners dogs as well :)

No microwave or washing up facilities - this was a big issue for us, but it woukld be a nice to have along with some bench space for prep of food.

The perfect base for a long weekend in Cambridge.

Loved the rural outlook, the hills in the distance, the view over the pool and outdoor bath - even in winter the accommodation is light and serene. Loved the interior design and styling - lots of thought and detail has gone into the space. Penelope was a fantastic host - really helpful with recommendations and info on the area. We had everything we needed.

Location beautiful. Country but close to city. Pool glorious. Lots of towels supplied for pool. Owners lovely 💕 warm and friendly. Chickens 🐓 chatty but cute. Fresh organic milk perfect.

Have chatted to owners about some cutlery and crockery which they have already introduced .
