Modern and comfortable, definitely recommended

The staff was available and very helpful. There was a lot of space in the dorms and they were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were also clean and modern

There's only a microwave and water boiler in the kitchen, so you won't be able to cook meals. There's also little shared space to socialize

Clean, safe, quiet and zen

This is not a party hostel. This is a place to get a break from the noise. Clean, safe, quiet and zen. Still a 20 minute walk to the beach and 45 minutes to the old town

Not the hostel’s fault but the paths to get down to the beach and Old Town aren’t great to navigate

Wouldn't not recommend

The receptionist lady in the afternoon/evening was friendly.

It's was cold at night, was only given a very thin blanket. The blonde hair receptionist lady in the morning was extremely unfriendly. There were two other middle aged men hanging out at the reception making the entire vibe felt so uncomfortable and awkward.

I recommend this place

The staff is exceptionally pleasant, the rooms are very clean, and the beds are quite comfortable. Additionally, you will have a spacious individual locker for your belongings.

It would be quite convenient to have a small electrical stove, even with the existing microwave and kettle.

Friendly and comfortable

I had a wonderful stay at Free Bird Hostel. The service was excellent, and I especially appreciated the warm and welcoming attitude of the receptionist, which made me feel at home right away. Thank you for creating such a friendly and comfortable atmosphere—I look forward to visiting again!

Well-located, clean, and spacious with friendly host. Dorm has an en-suite bathroom, though ventilation could be improve

Milana was very nice and helpful. The location is great—close to the bus station and convenient for reaching the old town by bus. The female dorm was spacious and had the bonus of an en-suite bathroom. I would’ve given it a 10 if the beds had curtains!

I hope they can improve the air circulation in the bathrooms, something that definitely needs fixing and a proper solution

Not good value of money

Good location being in the middle of the bus station & old town. 30 minutes walk to the old town but b us stop is conveniently located in front of the hostel

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay did lots of steps back and forth to the hostel 😃

Everything was really well laid out and spacious. It’s only small but had everything I needed. It was clean and had a fridge in the room. Staff were friendly and amazing views of the sunset. There is also a supermarket just a couple of minutes walk.

The only thing I didn’t like was the mattresses were hard and there were no curtains on the bunks for privacy.

Great location for seeing all of Dubrovnik

Very social hostel in a great location. The staff were very helpful with buses and maps. The hostel itself is incredibly clean, and near a lot of buses to get all around Dubrovnik. Nearby supermarkets and restaurants made for a very pleasant stay

Great hostel and nice price during the high season

The receptionists are super friendly and ready to help with anything. I really liked them! AC in the room was a blessing during the heatwave. There is a small kitchen with microwaves and kettle, coffee and tea for free. Enough fridges to leave your food. They don't have a stove to cook, be aware of that. The supermarket is just next to the hostel. Showers are very nice. Also, you can leave your luggage after check-out.

Everything that I didn't like is related to the roommates and not the hostel itself. Cleaning ladies did their job in an excellent way, but because of people, it was dirty again very soon. Also, the noise and lack of respect to sleeping people. Again, the hostel has nothing to do with that, just be ready for this kind of situation. The hostel is located on the hill, so you either have to use public transport to get to the old city/beach or train your legs.

Highly recommended for solo travelers to discover Dubrovnik

I like here everything! Plenty of showers/toilets, very clean, small terrace, air dryer for clothes, little corner to prepare tea, big fridge, good internet, air conditioner in room, provided towel , private light and socket, comfortable bed, huge locker with key and super friendly staff and guests 😃. Also great location, close to buses, shops port, supermarket and great value for money.

No hob for cooking, buts it’s nothing.

I had an incredible stay at Hostel Free Bird in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Every facility was absolutely on point and spotless—far exceeding my expectations. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, offering a cozy and relaxing atmosphere after long days of exploring. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. Communication was smooth and easy from the moment I booked to check-out, which made the whole experience even better. The location is amazing—perfectly situated for exploring the best of Dubrovnik. On top of all that, it offers excellent value for money. I highly recommend Hostel Free Bird to anyone looking for a clean, comfy, and convenient place to stay!

Good hostel

The location is near the bus station (about 18 minute walk) which was important for me. It is located a bit far from the old town though and uphill. It is clean, the mattresses are comfy. Staff very friendly and self check-in is not a problem.

It is a bit overpriced for a single bed in a dorm, given as well that it is quite far away from the old town. The communal area is really small.

Excellent Accommodation - Shame they tried to scam me.

Room was clean, as well as modern and well-designed. There was a large table in the middle and all beds had a curtain that block out light. It was close walking distance to public transport.

The hostel was initially a little difficult to find, it was down a bit of an alleyway. The front desk hours were very short so I did not interact in person with any staff during my stay. I was contacted later that day to settle the outstanding payment and they attempted to charge me double the due fee. They were evasive about why they attempted to charge me twice, not responding to e-mails, and required a follow-up from my end to explain they attempted to charge me for two nights. Fortunately I only provided card details for an account with just over the exact amount due. My concern is if the first transaction had be processed without issue they would have taken my money.

The property had a great energy about it. It was very clean and well looked after. Although not near the OLD TOWN it was in a great area for bus station and for tours leaving for the islands.

Great hostel to stay!

Clean, spacious rooms, free towel, super kind and friendly staff/owner. Location is also few steps from the bus stop and close to some convenience stores. Common area is small but sufficient for basic needs. Outside seating area is also nice.

Shower room remains wet most of the time, toiley and urinals are quite small. Wish there is more ventilation/exhaust fans.

Rooms are big as depicted

There is no common area, just a sofa where 3 people fit and the terrace which means that when it is cold, it will be difficult to meet people. Afortunately, when I was there it was still warm enough to have a chat in the terrace and make friends so I ended up extending one day Staff is slow, maybe they were just new and not too friendly.

The beds were very comfy, there’s a well equipped kitchen and the lockers were big and felt secure (they are locked by a key so we didn’t need our padlocks!)

The ladies bathroom had a very strong smell of damp, although it seemed clean.

good value for money

location is decent . very clean. the all female room has its own bathroom,you get good size lockers to store your stuff ,and there is air con-so it is not that hot in the room. plus every bed has its own socket to use for charging of phone etc ..in the kitchen you can help yourself to some hot drinks. i arrived in the night (after 1am) and the receptionist left me a note with the key,so they do take care of the late travelers

i came in the night and my bed did not have a sheet to use as cover and I did not have a towel, not sure whether someone took it or the staff forgot to put it there,but at that time it was quite upsetting especially since you come so late and just want to wash up and go to bed. i did have my own towel so one problem was solved and as for the cover,I found some blanket on the extra bed and had to use it. staff was apologetic in the morning,and the owner of the hotel was very kind to give me a lift to my next accommodation (very lovely lady)
