Hotel De Spiegel

The receptionist was very friendly to receive us even though we arrived at midnight. Thank you very much for that, otherwise we had nowhere to sleep

There was no towel in the rooms. We ordered them the next morning, but we wait almost an hour without success. We had to dry using what we had because we couldn't keep waiting

Really enjoyed my stay

Hotel with old equipment, but everything is functional. Nice location right on the square. Suitable for undemanding travelers.

The location is decent, in the middle of the centre of Sint niklaas. Parking underground is also very nearby, so thats good. The beds looked clean and were okay. Dont expect much for what you pay.

Local criminals have noticed this hotel is not very well managed. I was at the back-door of the hotel at night to check in, and a man started asking me if where i was standing was "hotel de spiegel". There were stickers on the window that it indeed was, so i was confused. He was arabic. Just that moment the receptionist luckily came down, as I had called him, to open the door (which is apparently always unlocked, you have to pull the door). The weird man walked away... He tried to lure me to the front of the hotel, which faces the center? So I'm not sure what his plan was, but be very wary late at night here. Sint niklaas is not the greatest city in general wrt criminality. Also there were a lot of mosquitoes in the room so I just bailed at 4am as I couldnt sleep anyway. No idea where the mosquitoes kept coming from as I killed at least 6...
